  1. no doubt Jude is a steezy dude, he looks far better in his Julius leather though haha. relating to what celebs wear, why are you frequenting these sites Rob? :P

lol damien, your search-fu is pretty good as well to dig up jude in _7. the true color of the jut comes across nicely in side profile pic of him crossing the street. the mosaic over the kid's face just made me think of sordid sex offender documentaries though.

and he doesn't have pointy shoulders with the jut. paprik, pinoy and myself (all size 3) all have pointy shoulders =_=

  2. aha, and then arises the question of stylist involvement and the underlying motivation behind the purchase of certain labels to maintain the movie star mystique...

but I digress, so yes, jude law and brad pitt are actors I like and generally, they can even make balmain look good. seems to me via anecdotes that jude does a lot of his own shopping, and he does have a more varied wardrobe in touch with popular aesthetics than brad.

I wanna see either of them in the CCP gloved hi-collar though :D

  3. lulz, then what does that make this jacket? ;) still of the opinion that the only good fit of the fencing I've seen has been on venus in furs, and its hardly a $7K fit haha.

really tempted by the high collar intarsia, love high collar leather jackets. :o

proof that even someone like so-ang can't make everything look instantly desirable? :P

but to be fair, anyone who browses sz would be aware that the leather is stiff and armor-like, I still think the leather is cool, but concede the fact that it'll probably wear most mortals.

the 5000 euro question is whether CCP is supported by people who go out online to research CCP fits/material/etc to inform their purchase decision or the nouveau-riche who does not have any background on the designer and purchases the item solely based on 30 minutes experience in-store?

  4. kuuRob, imho your backzip guidis are plenty versatile given your wardrobe, any more footwear for the sake of more footwear you're just getting less utility per dollar spent.

buy what you need, not what's rarest, if experience on the forums is anything to go by, opportunity to get that missed grail will always present itself to you in the future.

that being said if you're still not sure if you're a leather jacket type of guy, couldn't you go to zekka to try some on just to get a feel of things? I think the FW10 rider is pretty nice for a _7 rider, and your instinctual response to the runway show was "I like this jacket the most out of all of them" I see your opinion has not changed with time. you can either wait for zekka to bring in the jackets or have people post waywts with them before you decide to cop.

unimpressive fit pics vs trying in store: clothes lousy until proven good or clothes cool until proven bad? ;)

edit: and oh yeah, that fencing on jude law is meeeeeeeh. hardly the pic to change anyone's opinion on the fencing, looks kind of big on him since it flares out at his waist so much.

  5. yeah it was there when I looked last night but it's gone now. can't remember the price but did you get hit with aussie customs?

you make them look really good, iirc people have mentioned the narrowness of the shaft but with your height they just go up to the beginnings of your calf. couldn't have asked for a better fit. although your solid go-to tall engineers would start to get a little lonely :D

  6. we seem to have a high standard in regards to food quality and prep over here. i want to see a little shop that can only fit 5 adults max, run by one seedy overweight man wearing a tank top with no regards to cleaniness (a health inspector's worst nightmare). i want to be able to do a massive dump after eating all the goodness from the crap shack.

lol swooc, you should try this place called ria sari in kensington near UNSW. fits your description to a tee.

  7. that looks fantastic Nick. a coworker is leaving for dusseldorf tomorrow, jealous. :o

tell that guy to visit Uerige Brewhouse at Bergerstr. 1 in Dusseldorf for Altbier.

also if possible to enjoy some Ayinger and Andechser beers from the bottle, I can't really find those in Oz and they're highly rated online.

  8. while on the subject of Assin's buys, their prices and arrival times, I don't for a moment believe that Assin orders say, RO FW10 in January 2010 only for RO/Assin to put the inventory away until February 2011 when the goods are available July~September 2010.

the whole setup just seems dodgy to me, no one in their right mind would pay full wholesale price for inventory at the time the inventory is made available only to sit on it for half a year. either they're getting 'old' inventory for cheaper and gouging their customers or they're running up overhead costs for the price of storage, the cost of which they pass on the consumers. either way, the only outcome is a lose for the consumer.

  9. ^ try telling that to people who are willing to pay more than retail for "grail" slimane pieces, hell even the fw06 _7 ram rider sells for more than retail on Y.

Edit: lol, what nick said ;)

fuck, I wish I was as much a fan of brevity as you were Damien.

    I mean, uh...

I'm long winded and you're to the point.

  10. except that for the stuff we see on SZ and maybe sufu sometimes, lots of people are more than happy to shell out big money for certain items based on rarity, design and etc. paprik sold his sz 3 jut for japanese retail, albert bought his grail DH jacket for what seemed to be a king's ransom, so on and so on.

clothes are functional and depreciate faster than houses or cars (as they should!) because they're not built to last as long and aesthetics change faster than those examples but so much of what we pay for is already for intangibles like 'artistic endeavor', and if someone were to want to sell an brand new unused Ann D feather necklace in 2013, how would one determine it's sale price? based on depreciation of a metal chain combined with a feather or of the depreciation of her idea?

as for newer = better, it depends, I don't think I'm going to trade in last year's jut for this year's. haha.

  11. Others would say that you're earning profits from doing unproductive work. Like people who buy and sell currencies.

to that I say... hypothetically if the unproductive work person was someone disabled and wheelchair-bound, would you still begrudge them their risk-free profit/easy work? there's also the blue vs white collar comparison to be made, a miner puts their life on the line while a desk jockey pushes buttons, etc.

I think it's one of life's wonders that there are many ways for us to support ourselves out there, and in modern society the jobs that need to get done will, whether the citizenry wills it or not.

depends. i really cant compare selling clothes to houses nor cars nor as currencies at all.

    especially secondhand clothes.

I curious as to how you derived your opinion on this matter. to me the clothes that get bought and sold on the forums we frequent are basically assets just like houses, cars and currencies are... and the true value of something is how much someone else would pay for it.
