  1. For good beers, try the local tap house in st Kilda, and definitely go have dinner and beers at the little creatures dining hall on Brunswick st

seconding this, you'd be hard pressed to find a better selection of beer in Melbourne than that in The Local Taphouse.

as for bottleshops to go to, Slowbeer in Hawthorn is the best. I ship a case of beer from them every few months, great prices and best range.

  2. Fat visited our showroom during RAFW

Ah man. Copped a _7 suit last week - was shipped with EMS but it looks like it got lost in the mail? should've been here by now... tracking number comes up with nothing either.

luckily seller is willing to refund the full amount... but fuck i want the suit -_-

sorry to hear that Melv. was it the FW09 suit? does the tracking number not turn up anything on both sides (export/import country)? that would be strange if it didn't.

  3. And apparently, there's won't be anymore Julius in EM, so, see it when you believe it, guys. Same as LUC.. will see it then I will believe it.

not that surprised about Julius, so I take it even FW09 is not likely to arrive?

but quite surprised about LUC. from what you mentioned it seems they don't have problems selling it.

  4. *** Potential Employment Opportunity ***

I've been informed that there is a potential opening for a sales assistant position in Sydney CBD for someone who is a fan of labels like Julius, Viridi-Anne and Diet Butcher Slim Skin.

Position could be either full time or part time (3 days) the prerequisites however are:

    Bilingual - english and mandarin

    Strong appreciation for Julius/V-A/DBSS

Great steez & outgoing personality - sullen gothninjas can rep the brand, but can't sell for shit.

I don't have all the details like expected start and etc yet, but I'll be sure to update it when I get them. Sydney sufuers if you know anyone who might fit the description refer them to me. I'm only doing this as a favor (if I were bilingual, I'd already have gotten the job) Please get the word out.

  5. grats man. you have to buy stuff you can bang around because you'll need to be rotating them quite often so they last longer. SAA seems nice, maybe Adam can chime in since he's been using it for a few months now. and I feel even if you buy online +J shouldn't be bad for you because of standardized manufacturing = sizes don't vary that much.

  6. Calvin, there was a comment from the owner of Eastern Market that they would be receiving Julius FW09 soon, but if I were you I'd treat it like Santa Claus: only believe it when you see it. I'm hoping it's true though, and would be happy to even check it out and perhaps buy something if the price isn't too crazy. Ben how was SS09 priced again?

  7. lol no I'm not mad or anything, I thought it was a humorous reply when I typed that out. calvin if you ever visit Sydney you can try Julius here, but the arrivals are about 3-4 months after Japan.

yeah Damien things like being waterproof and warm ought to be the main considerations when faced with a scandinavian winter, aesthetics be damned! although the fur on that parka hood >_> like the Lad tones for FW10, nice brown shades, the only minus point is that lipstick red.

  8. yeah the leather puffer thing is a bit streetwearish however I was thinking something like that would be useful in the scando countries during winter. a lot of DBSS is weird, there's usually quite a few solid pieces though but nothing I can see really working for me this season. kinda liked the look of this however the fit is a bit boxy on Marc and not really digging the shoulder seam detailing.

going to a scando country soon? function over form mang :D if you were caught by snow I can't imagine the leather puffer holding up very well after that.

eh, the detailing is kind of meh on that, I don't like the vague n___n face formed by the shoulder and collar seams. I thought you were over hoodies?

Could anybody tell me when the Julius FW10 hits melbourne and which particular shops stock them?

sorry to be a wet blanket calvin, but if you want to check out Julius items within 3 months of its release in Japan and you live in Melbourne, you're up shit creek without a paddle. do not pass go, do not take $200, do not play the tactile experience card.

  9. watched that yesterday, looks sick. icon14.gif

kinda disappointed by the new DBSS collection, no pieces I would cop. the only thing I was interested in was the leather x puffer jacket but looks to fit quite large, guess I'll have to cop more _7 then haha.

I was curious and googled a bit, and it turns out that the CG director for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Mitsuharu Fukai is a Squareenix guy who had a hand in the CG sequences for FFX and the Kingdom Hearts games. I'm pretty happy that a western publisher is marrying the eastern CG aesthetic to their games, even if the best examples from the west can be just as awesome (anything by Blizzard)

DBSS is pretty lolwut after the Strange Birds collection. leather x puffer doesn't seem like your thing mang. I wonder if scott.m is beasting over this stuff tho.

  10. Yeah I kinda have that problem with my _7 leather aswell. The shoulder fits well on my right shoulder but on my left it kinda pops up a bit over my shoulder.

    http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u271/benny_tsangr/IMG_3753-1-1.jpg

Hopefully it moulds to my shoulder better over time coz I havn't gotten too many wears out of it.

Also I tried Mamasitas last night, had to wait in line for around 40 min before getting to the bar and then another 15-20 min to get a table.

comforting to hear that Ben, I've gotten a lot of use out of my jacket but given that it is washed leather, the shoulders are more obvious than on your nubuck. are you also one of those 'special occasion' leather wearers? :D

40 minutes to the bar and an hour total to the table? bloody hell man! at least the food seemed worth the wait. how was the bar? margaritas and such?

  11. RE: leather jackets - am I the only one that dig this doma SS10 leather? I would only cop it if its on sale though... and please don't show me the oki ni dude wearing it coz he just makes everything look shit. Thinking of emailing Frol from DD about it...

Oh and - check out this dude in red, and our sftm rafw runway :D:D We didn't know until after the show... such a champ - asked him so many questions about the DD show and how it was working with him etc.

but where else on the internet would we be able to view the leather but oki-ni :D

looks like there is a black version on antonioli and atelier, I'm not sure if its the exact same jacket though, there is the large round neck opening but the pockets aren't as prominent on the earth colored jacket. I think the round neck is a very DD detail but not really my type, the texture of his washed leather works better in the earth colorway than black imho.

nice melv, any interesting anecdotes you can share with us?

  12. hmm I should really pace my replies ~_~; I misread your post heh.

well, lots of leather x fabric pieces have equivalent all-leather versions. not that IS (the all-fabric is nice though!) - it reminds me of the FW08 damir doma leather. but come to think of it, I think your gravitation towards leather x fabric jackets is signaling a preference for perhaps a certain type of silhouette or cleanliness of design.

as for issues of CCP pricing, authorship, etc. I think I need to mull about it for a while.

ELSCOOBIEDO is a lady? I'd never have thought it from the sales items. I saw her fingernails in one of her sales threads, just thought it was a guy who likes to pick his nose a lot.

  13. That leather looks bad ass.

and I sent a PM about the bag...

yeah, ELSCOOBIEDO always has a super-wide variety of stuff, let us know how it goes for you mang.

Can anyone recommend some slim black high tops? I've already got CP Achilles mids and Chucks.. But both are worn to the shits now..

shilent, why don't you try SILENT's black high tops? lol

Do you guys like it when people buy you clothing...? I feel like I can't get rid of it years later cause of sentimental value even if I'll never wear it.

Rob, I didn't mean "go to Zekka to try on stuff and cop from other stores" but more like going there to try different leathers and perhaps inform your future purchase decisions. I think it's perfectly fine to do so.

I think you should at least consider that maybe you just aren't a leather outerwear person. there are lots of people who don't own leather jackets that still manage to build a great wardrobe, e.g. wire.artist (I dislike his aesthetic immensely, but I respect how he is sticking true to his personal sense) and jogu. I think it's kind of weird for you to say that you're not a leather and fabric fan when all you can think of is leather + fabric, like you're holding onto an ingrained perspective that leather + fabric is bad, you seem to like it well enough.

as for clothing from others... I kind of hate it especially since most people tend to gift what they think you would like, rather than invest themselves into it, they pour their biased perspective of you into the gift. however everything I wear at home is almost inevitably some kind of christmas present from aunts. :D
