  1. you guys are super helpful :o ill probably major in applied math since I do really enjoy math and statistics.

I know this was a week ago, but I just want to say that applied math / stats on their own will limit you because you'll lack the acumen of whatever field you end up in (unless, of course, you want to be a statistician or a prof).

I notice you said above you thought about actuarial sciences. If that doesn't interest you, have you considered Financial Engineering? Basically applied math models for the financial sector. That coupled with an MBA will open a lot of doors because that is a very specialized and practical field.

@xerrox - keep in mind that IB will require you to work 80+ hr weeks. And that doesn't go down as time goes on. Make sure you love it if you're going to go that route.

Management consulting is just as demanding, especially if you end up with a consulting firm like Mckinsey or BCG (if you end up with the Big 4 to consult, the pay is a bit less, but so are the hours)

@glasses - that's completely subjective. That's like saying a criminal lawyer is better than a corporate lawyer.

Generally speaking, as cliche as it sounds, do what you love before you go for the money. If you're educated, the money will come. From my own experience, everybody that went down the CA route (myself included) HATED audit. Yet we all went into it because it was the thing to do. I'm glad I switched out of it. It's the same with so many professions. My $0.02.

  2. Help me out!

I have an interview at the Tech Museum of San Jose (marketing internship) and I need help with a few things. What to wear??? And what questions you think a museum would ask me. Its a marketing internship and I will be helping out the marketing department with whatever they ask me to do. That is all I know about the internship.

    THANKS

always assume to dress formal to an interview unless you've been told not to

    Suit and Tie.

They'll probably ask you generic behavioral questions and "why do you want to work here"

do some research on the museum and ask some good questions. interviewers love talking about themselves and their job, so ask what you can

  3. I saw that about a month ago but just chalked it up to guys finding another way to be facetious dicks on the Internet.. Matching tee/gym shorts/sunglasses? That can't be actual honest praise from an admiring female..

Asshole even caught me on my running errands around the city day hating everything.

at least yours was submitted by a girl

  4. Note that a 1 page resume is not for a teen that's just trying to build some experience

it's for people that are established and can say "here is my more most relevant experience in a concise manner"

but if you don't have experience that's good enough for that, then there's nothing wrong with a 2 pager

in fact, depending on the job, i'll either send out 1 page or 2 when i'm applying (ex. consulting jobs require a 1 page resume, financial services i'll give them a 2 pager)
