I have a pair of ultimate Indy's on the way... but that's another story....
Nice smoke jumpers by the way. I'd like to own a pair of whites...

what's with the two holes on the heels?

Well Digups inspired me to search and I found..
Vintage Florsheim Imperials

to be honest judging by your photos...
I do like the wingtips and the cap toes very much.
I do not like the zippered boot, or the black ones with the white bottoms. The zippered one is just wrong. The point of a zipper is to make the book easier to put on, but when it's only 5" tall what's the point? And the Black ones are way to bent upwards. They look clownish.
Because I'm sure you'd rather have an honest answer than just they all look great...

well I got my spectators back today and have to say I'm 100% pleased.
Almost got all the "past" owners toe indents out and now have brand new half soles...

chicken,
that's an aweful story!
I'm so sorry about your boots and your mag.
I have a really good feeling about the guy I went to on those spectators. I'll let you know how it goes.
One of the good things was all the equipment in the shop was at least 60-100 years old.

dropped off the spectators to get half soles. The previous owner's toes didn't match mine and bugged me when I wore them. Hopefully this will fix them plus I get to keep the cat paws heels...
Should get them back friday.

Just got these in the mail.
trying to find the maker. The only thing that I can still read inside is what looks like Dupont then Cord.. or Copd..
Can I have them resoled with new foot beds inside but keep the cat paw heel?

Here's a great review on a pair of Redwing GT's... Not a good review on them though...

But I'm into browns these days and am toying with this idea. What do you all think if I got some brown Corcorans like this:
And shortened them to 10-hole boots, so they would look more like work boots like these '34 style ones. What do you think of that?
So you want to take the wwii brown jump boots and make them into work boots? Interesting... The jump boots run about 100+ what would it cost to cut them down? At least you already have the proper sole... I'd say go for it. Should look pretty close, except for the ankle support strap...

Amen to the thread. Now, these custom Wescos... Like Chicken said, you don't really have them till we can see them!
They were my boss "James Dean" I've posted them before.

First Wesco's take forever to break in and will kill your feet... now that said, they're fantastic boots and once actually broken in are well fantastic... So hang in there.
I also called Whites the other day and asked about custom. They can/will do what ever you request. The guy I talked with said he actually was wearing the semi dress in black roughouts! He went as far to say if I wanted blue lizard they would make them in blue lizard...
So keep that in mind. That's one reason I do enjoy this thread. It shows you, you don't have to have what everyone else has. You can customize. That's why I love wesco, I had an idea for a boot and they made it for me. It wasn't on their catalog or website but they did it just the same...

LVC makes them in 40 also.
I have a pair of 55's in a 40 inseam
Plus they made a 55 in an extra 3" called a mistake or something line not sure but look for it.
I got a pair in 36x36 but they measure out to a good 40 inches for sure in the inseam
.

Bill, what's the difference in price between ordering through you guys or going direct through the White's website?
Also, what's the status on mine?
white's site on semi dress and prices.

Bill:
I'm considering the semi dress. I might have to stop in and try on the 11's when you get them. I'd need a C instead of a D though if they're similar to 405's...

what.. no 11's?

those cigars got me looking and a there's a pair of 405's on the bay right now that are what looks like the older version of the indy's in a 8e I think.
In case anyone's interested (these are not mine I just saw them) if you were looking for the older version 405...

It wasn't bad. I really didn't learn much though. Mostly fluff.
But of course I (we) probably know a bit more about denim than the average joe...

watches are a sick, sick hobby. A pair of good shoes runs you about 3 hundred, a good watch about 5 grand.

Shoes that look better with age...

so I'm wearing my new to me Florsheim Imperials with the metal V-cleat and nailed heel and turn a corner at work on the just waxed smooth floor and ...yes you guessed it. "Wham" and not the George Michaels type. Flat on the floor in 1 second flat.
I love the vintage-ness of the shoes, but I need something else there. What can I put over the metal so I don't wipe out again?
