  1. exactly aho, could have bumped into you. is it snowing heavily when you were there? though i only experienced tiny flakes of snow and the park area looks very tranquil and nice.

i must agree the staffs there are really polite. especially flat head & dry bones. but i really had a hard time communicating with them, language barrier. yes, not to mention, the evisu stores there are really amazing, nothing like what we have here.. i nearly got myself a pair of evisu too!

super purchases from you i guess, must be a really fruitful trip!

  2. Ok, finally have some time, so...

not exactly a wayjdt post since it has been weeks.

i'll try not to bombard the thread with everything but these might be interesting to some:

Reached Osaka late on the first day, headed to the hotel area to check in and explore around the area, only to know that namba & shinsaibashi are really near to each other. so here we have the famous glico man.

    Jap12Album1159.jpg

and the original giant crab? Shinsaibashi has really got nothing but FOOD. amazing.

    Jap12Album1168.jpg

so was at Yotsubashi area for shopping and visited some stores.

2 levels of fh & rjb goodness.

nothing much in warehouse, they just finished their huge sales days before i arrived. small shop btw.

Sry. too excited to visit, no pictures for dry bones and LEE.

but around the corner is where dry bones & LEE are at. Dry Bones store is a pretty impressive. we were offered some godiva chocolate when we entered, generous much? db really stands out in terms of their store theme (which was to me very 'primitive japan' inspired, and a few pieces are very old-japanish-rock crafted)

And to mccoys (another amazing store, packed with leathers jackets, bombers, flight jackets, uncountable A2 jackets, and of course the staple essentials; henleys, basics etc... a must visit)

    then..

    Jap12Album1153.jpg

thats about all for osaka that is suitable for this thread, no fit pics (but i was wearing denim throughout the trip), no in-store photos, my apologies.

  3. ^Indeed. Material isn't really thick though. It's zip fly btw, since I don't consider them as a pair of jean, it doesn't really matter.

pretty sure wgmds will get an awesome fit since (I think) he is quite tall.

  4. I got a pair in cream/white color, I can't find free time to put up pictures yet but they are unsanforized (length shrinkage for mine was an inch or so) and the fabric is really superb. I wouldn't call them jeans because of the bedcord material. they run a little slim. Easily my fav pants!

The black ones are really dark in r.l, very black and glossy surface. You will love them!

  5. just sharing my purchases from the kapital stores (i regret not buying more!) I wish i had read through these 8 pages of kapital thread before my trip, so i could have collected some of the shops tokens, i actually got one from one of stores but i think i left it in the hotel, (it is a picture of a singer sewing machine) crap.. nevertheless, i really enjoy visiting the kapital stores, particularly the one in kyoto and ebisu.

quick shots: a hat, a red tab jacket which that in said that its a deadstock because they dont use red tabs anymore.

    Kapital001.jpg

some shots of elder. which i have absolutely no idea what fabric it is. No. 1 or No. 2?

    Kapital008.jpg

    Kapital009.jpg

    loving the rivets.

i strongly suggest visiting the stores, you will be rewarded! Else, pick up a catalogue from Jon and get yourself started on kapital. its a really remarkable brand&co.

  6. Ok, so today I was at roppongi hills for kaptial, for info, they are the two roppongi stores are the only stores that do tax free for non jpn residents.

The guy there told me that 007 with the elder tag is an old release. This cinch back tapered straight does actually skip sizes as what I was told, he mentioned that the sizes are 29, 31, 33 and so on. It's a non selvedge model.

    Here's the leather tag.

Got myself a ds jacket in the roppongi store today.

  7. ^i think the Elder comes in only O/W. Jon should be able to shed more light/advise on this, he's the expert :)

    anyways, fit pics soon?

Still currently in jpn, cheap ass hotel only has wifi access in the lobby. Prolly could share sometime next week. Planning to take some time out to visit kapital ebisu.

Kapital really doesn't do raw. Denim is O/W except for one or two jackets. Sizing depends on the fabrics. Standard items always have full range of sizes. Special fabrics and wages tend to be only even number sized, cuts are usually altered to include the odd sizes though.

A lot of the elder cuts are special fabrics the only way you'll know is if you look through the catalogs.

    That's good info, thank you!

Yes you are right, there aren't many raw denim around, cept for a few Raw jackets. I have seen many brands out that but from what I see, kapital jeans have got really interesting hardwares.

  8. ^thanks. That is pretty helpful. Damn language barrier. I was told that The next size is 31, and since it's cinch back, and the fitting was ok... I procured it anyway. i feel that the denim is a one wash, and the new 007 has an N behind the tag; 007N. Same construction but different leather tag.

  9. I was around at Kyoto kapital that day, and couldn't ask much about the sizing for a pair of old 007. Denim and hardware are simply amazing. But they do not have size 30? Due to language barrier, I couldn't check if there is a size 30. I put on a size 29, then asked for a 30 since it's a tad tight, the next size I have is size 31.

Poor us, we could only communicate via hand signs! Can anyone clarify on this?

  10. I have hot soak my r436 twice, the first time it shrank considerably about a size in the waist but eventually expanded because of the fabric (not the same denim as 400 etc, those are 17oz I suppose).

And the thigh got almost an inch smaller. Inseam probably 2"+

I remember reading from the Taobao site that one of those 17oz can shrink up to about 2" in the waist, but from my experience it's not true.

Apologies couldn't be much of a help, probably gregornz can help. He knows his jeans well :)

  11. Machine washed once. Prolly about 2 days per week! I don't know why. Maybe I'm bad at capturing the evo? Need to take better pics :(

But There is something happening on the backpockets. They are really soft. I doubt they'll have any nice fades.

  12. i'll be visiting jpn in late feb, shall take this chance to contribute a little.

I have always hear about Umeda, amerikamura etc.. but i discovered that in osaka near yotsubashi station, there are a couple of staple stores to visit, these are the shops that are really close to each other. (walkable)

Then again, it will be my first time going to osaka, these are all that i have extracted from the google maps. i hope it will be helpful to some.

    clip_image002.jpg

Moving along the stretch of road from A to B should be able to discover a few of the stores listed above. They are all within the area to be precise. Good Luck!

  13. Hi gregornz, im not very sure myself, I'd try to give it some wear whenever I can, prolly twice a week. And usually on hot weathers! Because the fabric is quite light.

I can upload some detailed pics of the jeans when I can. But no impressive evo yet..

My only regret is the leg opening. I couldve wanted a L.O of 8.25" instead.

Btw the color of your 403 looks a tad similar to mine now..

    interesting..

  14. I have here some fit pics of my altered 436 RC, which was, previously totally not my size.

    1401027.jpg

    1401030.jpg

I had my neighborhood tailor altered them to as of a OG roy measurement (since i have been dreaming about the fit), what i can say is that the tailor did a pretty decent job. then i got it chainstitched at our local one and only union special @ OGL.

pardon the lighting, not the best. I'll find time to update more on the jean itself.
