  1. I have added offset measurements. As you can see if BIG measured the knee at 14in down instead of 13 they would have reached the end of the taper not just above it, and they would come out looking as true hosepipes.. especially with Samurai's long inseams.

  2. again. WRONGGGG.

did you not read a single thing i wrote? i pretty much wrote an essay on how the 5000 tapers down from knee down SIMILARLY to 0500 and 510. the difference is in overall slim-ness and how much its tapered. but all three are tapered varying by model and size. no shit the difference is in the leg opening...where else would it be? nobody even talked about the taper from crotch to knee, i explained knee to leg opening.

5000 tapered about .25-.5" from knee down to hem.

its standard to measure knee at either 13 or 14" down from crotch (where else would you measure knee...?). this is how they measure and distinguish most cuts basically: bootcut, straight, taper, etc also. from knee down to hem

5000, 0500, 510 are all tapered slightly ranging from .3-.75" from knee to hem.

"dead straight" from knee down would be like PBJ-005's (ie, 8" at knee to 8" at hem) or some other Samurai models like the Jins.

    thanks but, try again.

See what you made me do?! Just because you're in histerics over this, I now had to go take them off and measure them, I'm standing here in my undies taking measurements looking like an didiot, just to prove you wrong.

Measurements starting at hem and moving up 10cm intervals, in mm... all just for you. I hope you appreciate this.

    225mm (0 - hem)

    226mm (10)

    227mm (20)

    227mm (30)

    225mm (40)

    227mm (50 - knee)

    235mm (60)

    260mm (70)

    285mm (80)

    316mm (85 - crotch)

    Happy now?

    EDIT: Now with offset measurements.

  3. 5000VX - notice knee - leg opening difference

    same goes for 510's.

That's because of the way BIG measure. To keep things consitent they picked the knee to be 13 inches from the crotch. The 5000vx tapers from the crotch to the knee (half way down the leg?) but dead straight from there down. The 500 continues to taper from the knee down. No idea about the 510. The difference should be in the leg opening.

  4. Walking home from work today, it occurred to me how many trashy fluorotee wearing, skinny Lee jean wearing people there are around this city.

Was waiting for someone else to say this. Sufu still seems to be really pro slouched skinny jeans but in Sydney the super slouch skinny + fluoro all over print tee hasn't just blow up, it's all there is. I blame tsubi and the nu-rave kids. ;)

Still, it doesn't stop me wearing my pink all over print tee... even after I saw a rippoff with a wrong print on a coathanger in SP1 or Mooks early last year... and for stupid markup. :(

  5. The evisu diacoc(sp?) must be the single ugliest denim design i've ever seen. They are the ones with the gulls going all the way down the leg, and look like some bape/bbc garbage. however, i personally like the pumaxevisu collab.

I've only ever seen them once, being worn by a skinny girl, and they actually looked pretty good. Before I saw them on someone I used to think they were hiddeous. Evisu looks a bit out there in the West but then again the weirder Evisu designs wouldn't look that weird in palces like Tokyo or Helsinki.

  6. Has anyone seen those adds on tv about the presets doing a show at Martin Place or something like that? I can't find any info on it online and it looks like the presets won't be here until June.

Sounds like it will be one of those short breakfast program performances. I can't remember which channel films thier breakfast show there.

  7. Could have turned into a seven.homme.homme.homme meetup.

Anyway, nobody wants to know about zozo shoes, most are a bit out there, and don't like like the quality is there. It's really hit and miss. The folds on the cubisms just reminded me where I saw that detail before and the image turned me off them.

For some reason the Bickle shirt is the one thing I get constant comments on, and most people don't mention Taxi Driver but say flat out, hey thats Travis Bickle.

  9. Within a relatively short walking distance of World Square, does anyone know any decent ramen joints?

Does anyone know of any that are in the city? I only know of one and that is in north Sydney. Well, 2ish if you count the Korean one in the foodhall of Market city.. if it's still there.

I had a look at the CON shoes in southwest trader, last week? or two weeks ago?, and I didn't think the quality was that great so couldn't bring myself to buy.

These ones looked better built and in the pic they look a bit like toecaps but from the top you see they're not actually toecaps but have 3 intentinal folds/crease lines and look like one of the typical styles available from zozo or rakuten.

  10. Nothing is forever...i probably won't be posting away on online forums for my whole adult life, if even in the next few years at all...but i'm here for now. if there's one thing i hope people take away from my posts and general outlook on style is that: no matter what people say about how funny your clothes fit, how funny you look, how awkward you are...fuck all that shit. it doesn't matter. i see people here dressing to be accepted into some kind of inner clique, for acceptance, or people blanking their face out as soon as someone points out their head is too large. Shit people here telling me i'm ugly and i had a meltdown last summer...that was then.

    ...

But this is me now telling you...fuck all the miniscule chitter chatter and voices of this world, if YOU yourself believe you are a fucking rock star, you are a fucking rock star. Now get blowed and go fuck a thousand whores...

Fucken' oath. Except for a few standouts -- who mostly keep quiet anyway -- most opinion on this board is worth fuck all.

  11. ^ ahh, that explains little better.

but didn't it become illegal last year?

I remember reading a while back that in the last 5 years I they somehow changed the rules for national service to reduce the size of their army and reserves. Don't know anything about what they actually did or changes to their gun laws. I bet there's something in google but I'm too lazy and don't care enough

  12. i believe the swiss gun laws were also very liberal until quite recently.

In switzerland, national service is compulsory up to age of 30? and works a bit like the reservists everywhere else, where every year they have to do some ammount of training to stay ready, and they have to keep their equipement (gun) at home. So pretty much every home in switzerland has a gun.

  13. cjbreed i like those xx-005s, but is the stitching on the inside really as light is it appears to be in that first pic?

No, but the xx005s use a very even coarse yellow stich along the inseam instead of the dark orange thread used everywhere else. You can instantly tell what jeans you're looking at from that detail.

  14. Just a bit of a warning to any Australians considering buying Japanese beer here. None of the stuff sold here appears to be made in Japan; at least the stuff from Dan Murphy's. The Kirin is made in Australia under lincense by lion natahn. The Asahi super dry is made in the Philipines. I was hoping the Saporo at least would be imported from Japan but nooooo... it's made in bloody Canadia and only available in huge Cans (700mil ?)... and disgustingly overpriced.

I still like the the Little Creatures Pale Ale, the taste just doesn't get old. If you can get your hands on it outside of Australia give it a go. The Coopers ales are nice too but in general I love my pilsners, the hoppier the better. I get sick of everything eventually so if a pub has something local or unsual on tap I'll usually drink that over anything else.

  15. Bought true to size, I'm usually a 32" and that's what I got. One hot wash, hang dry. The fit is just right. There's a little room up top, defintely not nut huggers, but it's form fitting and slim. Great jeans.

How tall are you? Those look deceptively slim. You have got to be at least 6'4 or 6'5. I swear that on me, even 31s would look baggier.

  16. what's the advantage of buying a fixed zoom lense?

Basically, a shaper picture edge to edge. In general the larger the focal length spread of a zoom lense the more compromises it will have to achieve sharpness across the range, with a sharpness sweet spot at one focal length. The difference is visible at the edges of the picture.
