  1. i have always remembered a large amount of coats, trenches being worn in sydney anyway.. including peacoats...

Haha, you just reminded me of the Sydney trench phase after The Matrix came out. I remember seeing trench coats and overcoats, but don't remember seeing any traditional looking double breasted peacoats.

  2. I've seen double polos or polos over long sleeved shirts and even a popped collar but never a double popped collar. I think it's that a lot of people don't have warm clothes in Sydney so they layer like crazy in winter. Are our winters getting colder? A lot of scarves and (pea/millitary) coats came out this winter when you wouldn't have seen many a few years ago.

  3. First time I saw the Anne Demeulemeester hightops from a couple of years ago in person I drooled on myself a little bit. Everything was leather, even the normally rubber band that runs around the shoe on chuks was leather. They were just beautiful, and at over a grand completely out of my league so I just put them down and pretended like they didn't exist. But now everytime I see hightops, even the CPs, they just doesn't do it for me.

  4. The less you baby them, the better they will come out in the end. They are tough so it doesn't matter if you hot machine wash or just hot soak inside out. They will come out good either way, but do one of the two to get the shrinkage out of the way. But if you just soak, most of the starch will stay on the jeans so they will feel tougher than if you wash. The legs aren't that skinny and they have long inseams so you will probably have to hem or they will pool around your feet. I had mine hemmed but still have a big break. Wear it for a few weeks unhemmed to see if you like it, they won't set creases properly around the ankles for a long while so you have plenty of time. The only thing that will set a permanent crease pretty quickly is if you keep wearing jeans cuffed.

  5. Hey can anyone recommend me a photo lab in sydney, i've got a whole bunch of 120mm film i need to get processed (the cheaper the better!)

Can't recommend one, just call around. I use (or used) a local place, I haven't touched medium format in over a year. They process the b&w film and print small sizes locally and ship the colour film to some place in the city for processing.

  6. Sydney needs a kristallnacht for military jackets.

Take every peacoat, trench and anything with epaulets and burn it.

That's rough. The peacoat and trench are classics. You're right though, I'm seeing quite a few around this year when nobody had one last winter. Still not THAT many. I'm seeing a lot more blazers and sports coats too. Everything seems to be moving to a more traditional look. Anyway... I'm one of the shit eaters. Bought mine for last winter, and wearing it again for this one.

Can anyone remember what people were wearing last year to keep warm? I can't remember anything outstanding, I think it was lots of shitty generic oversized M65s like every year.

  7. our prayer just been answered

You beat me to it. Got the email too, very very surprised. The only disapointement is that every time I've been there I didn't like the materials of the DH suits they had, but at least this should bring the price down to a level matching world wide prices.

  8. These just seem way too small and i'd feel more comfortable going up to atleast a 32.

Just a warning before you sell, they are deceptive in how much they will stretch. If you go up a size they will drape differently and have more noticable hip flare and may even end up being too big. Since you're not willing to wait I would stretch out the waist by hand and try them on again before selling. Grab both ends of the unbuttoned waist loop and stretch the waist using your knee or your heel, and put effort into it, they are tough. You will feel it stretch a little as you do it. Do it at different points along the loop. That will get almost all the stretch out in a couple of minutes and this is what they would eventually stretch to anyway. If you still don't like them after that, sell them.

  9. i bought some tagged sz 31 5000vx hoping they'd stretch to a 33. they measured 32 raw and are 30.25 after a 45minute soak and drip dry. are these going to stretch out to a permanent 33 ever? or should i sell and size up?

the fit throughout the legs is fine but the waist isway too tight, can't even button the top2

what size do I need for a measured 33 waist accounting for soaking/washing and stretching

They will stretch to that. I posted stretch measurements on 31s in the how do jeans fit thread a while back... http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showpost.php?p=847895&postcount=1967 Samurai 5000VX Lot 9, Size 31". Hot soaked twice when bought and hemmed. ... Now stretched to 34" (87cm). Even if the lot 10's are an inch smaller, they should stretch to 33.

  10. For example, most people I know have bitched about how everyone shops at General Pants and ends up wearing the same shit and how everything there's generic etc.

But let's face it, at one point time or another, we've all bought something from there right? Personally I'd be very surprised if no one ever has, but maybe it's just me. ;P.

Bought a belt and Chucks there. Chucks are the same price everywhere.

homme.homme.. since you asked... a GP sales chick was pushing leather chucks when I was there. This was maybe a year ago but I'm sure they should still have them. Go on.. buy something at GP.

  11. bought a pair of size 30 black dukes off someone who wore it only 3 times. they seem awfully soft, so soft that i think they're not raw. i rubbed a wet tissue in multiple places and no dye comes off. is this just how the denim is or was my pair washed/soaked when it shouldn't have been (the buyer said they're raw, unwashed, unsoaked).

Sounds normal. They are very soft and smooth when new. The fabric is sanforised so it feels different from typical raw denim. Black is a different dye from indigo and doesn't rub off, at least with the fabir used by Imperial.

  12. and oh yeah, i say that 'cos justice is the best french electronica/whatever group after daft punk so...

 ... What happened to Cassius, St. Germain, Kavinsky, Etienne de Crecy, Laurent Garnier.. and everybody else?

  13. kpnv+homme, thanks alot! that was definitely what I needed to find out.:)

Don't forget to do the usual tourist crap. Look around circular quay at night, all the way from the rocks to the opera house. Look around darling harbour, the botanical gardens area, chinatown / haymarket to get a feel of the city. Take a ferry to Manly and have a look around there. When you go to sury hills / darlinghurst / paddington / newtown, don't just walk the main roads, take a look at the side streets, they are quite nice areas on a nice day.

  14. whats tg pose?? should i make a thread about it?

youre doing better than me,, i go "yi know a movie with you know :waves hand: that french dude init.."

At last... I'm not the only one. I have a really good point to contribute, so I start talking but then I can't remember the name of the flick, but then I can't remember the actor either so I do exactly the same... and the idiots around me can't tell what movie I'm talking about from my hand waving... and then my point dies. It's so sad, people don't even try to help me out anymore.

..oh and YES PLEASE to the first bit.

  15. samurai s710xx 32 lot 10

    presoak / postsoak / 6 months / 2nd soak

    waist 16.5 / 17 / 18 / 16

Wow, that's a like a zero denim stretch. BIGs pre-soak waist measurements show 17, close enough. The waist on yours didn't move after first soak but stretched 2 inches.. Good to know. This is the kind of info people should be posting, I could buy based on that.

  16. Anyone else getting strange looks from copious amounts of stacking or otherwise? It was a first for me.

I've only ever noticed having my clothes checked out once. It was one of those blatant, start at the shoes and slowly move the eyes up judgemntal looks. I still remember the expression and I still don't have a clue if it was approval or disgust. And I could count compliments on one hand, and one of those was for shoes that would have sufuers spitting at me across the internet. Appart from that, it's snide remarks all the way down.
