  1. i need to measure my true wasit as i think it has gone done. i would measure your RRDS right and then get a pair of kings that are one inch smaller than that measurement. trust, they will strech at the waist within days....

I don't know how true it is with the blacks about stretching. I've had my dukes for over 6 months and even though I don't wear them that much I would have expected them to stretch a bit more in that time. They haven't stretched much at all and are still pretty tight around the waist.

I'm really happy I sized down but I'll need to take some side shots while crouching to show what I mean by tight waist, it's as if the waist is shaped by the denim more than the denim by the waist.

  2. the only consolation for living in a jean desert like Australia. I was out in the city and counted 8 pairs of Ksubi and countless pairs of levis. At that moment I was truly glad I had my sexihos on. Just to be wearing something different...;)

I'm seeing a huge variety of jeans in Sydney. I can't recognise most of them but I've only ever seen one other person in Imperials and he was browsing in Another while I was buying mine. And I've never seen any Japanese brands on anyone, even Evisu. You can be 100% sure you won't be seeing sexihos on anyone else in Sydney.

:( This board has caused two things to happen to me. One, I've ordered expensive jeans without first trying them on, and am now sadly contemplating buying another pair. Two, I'm now staring at everyone's butt especially if it's covered in denim; both male and female. I'm not sure which is worse but I think I now understand the term supergay.

  3. before i do that... just wanna know if they will mark item as a gift and declare a lower value.

To makre sure, cut and paste the translation to mark item as low value in your followup confirmation email. You can find it earlier in this thread.

Mine were marked correctly but whether it was because the value on the con note was hard to read or because customs didn't care, the package went straight through.

  4. I got my one pair of super slubby jeans (Eternal 868). ... I was impressed, but not "this is the jean for me for life" impressed. I wear them every now and then for variety, but my everyday jean is my Imperial Dukes and Ande Whalls.

Anyway you look at it you can't buy anything like the Japanese type stuff here, even if you define it as low quality. I've always wanted a nice pair of jeans but every time I tried on a pair I didn't like the way they sat and always end up settling for generic 501s. Was in NY last year and tried on a *LOT* of different jeans in different stores, including tsubis and Imperials and I liked the Imperials the most. I was floored by the price though. Obviously didn't buy them because I could get them at home and probably cheaper. Bought them from another inch in Sydney and after a nice chat with the owner, really cool guy BTW, was told about superfuture. Came here, had my eyes opened to all the variety, and been mostly lurking looking at fits and everyone's boasting about the quality of Japanese jeans but didn't want to take the risk ordering online and couldn't find any Japanese denim with the detailing of the Imperials. But lusted after something rough and heavy :D . You know, a real man's denim! Got the S5000VX and I love the material. I thought the Imperial's were tough denim but this is something else completely. It's rough but suprisingly comfortable. The details aren't nearly as good as the imperials, the stitching isn't as good, and the fit is very traditional in comparisson but I really like them. The difference in material is huge, putting on the Imperial's right after the Samurai's, it feels like the Imperials are made of fantastic thin silk. You just can't get anything like this in Sydney that I know of. They are both just plain good in their own way.

  5. I'm borderline on Dior denim. I don't like the fit on about half the people I've seen here, but they like it and my personal style isn't the greatest in the world so some people should reconsider.

This has been said but I cringe at the high tops with skinny/tapered jeans pictures. The taper makes the shoes look huge and overwhelming. Same goes for skinny jeans and large hoodies or large jackets, and the obsession with hoodies in general. Some people are getting dangerously close to NED/chav look.

Don't kill me for the next one. I think the the majority of WAYWT pictures are of the same few expensive brands immitating a similar look but in very bad fits for the body type. And too much of the same look in general.

To end on a positive backhander :o , this place is a great resource for denim, and all those pictures.. just seeing what works and what to avoid is great. Sometimes you need to see a faux pas on somebody else to realise the truth, the mirror often lies.

  6. Fantastic looking shoes, the leather looks so soft. I've been looking around a long time for something like this but with a slightly longer toe tip. Couldn't see yours too well because of the lighting but if they look like these but longer then kudos on an awesome find.

shoes are vintage, look very similar to the yohji san x repetto (image under) but with a toe -section detail to balance the shape a bit better (not brogued though).

    cheers

  7. Buying from 2ND was just too easy. The Samurai's were ordered on Sunday morning, dispatched Sunday arvo and arrived this morning (Wednesday). As you can see I wasn't the first to get to try them out, but if you look closely I got a pleasant surprise. The stickers and mouspad gifts from 2ND were a nice surprise too. ;)

I'm a little scared, they fit just right around the waist even before "the hot soak." I guess that's the danger when buying online without trying them on. Maybe I guessed right in sizing down from 32 to 31, maybe I'll be in a lot of pain.

  8. I just had a fairly painless and very quick experience dealing with 2ND. Immediate automatic reply and order confirmation within the hour and final confirmation half an hour after that, on a Sunday morning! The confirmation email has a small english section that says they don't speak english and to please use simple english and online translation. It even provides a quote to just cut and paste back if you agree with the order. 「全て同意します。発送して下さい」

I started the order using the second method (don't want a rakuten member account) and google translate, but it got messy at the payment and delivery screen, then I remembered seeing the english guide, thank god! It wasn't exactly the same but close enough. I swear you could ask to have the order delivered via courier pigeon at precisely 3:45pm, 13 days from now via the west window, and pay in bulk only after you order the 5th item, if you live in Japan.

Only thing that worries me a little bit is that according to google 2ND keeps ending their emails with "The impoliteness it does." 「失礼します。」But I'm sure I was very polite. :D

No tax, and shipping was 3650 Yen (AU$38) to Australia.

  9. I'm after some heavier & rougher pure indigo denim, like the samurai s5000vx, or the skinner pure blue xx-005 (bloody hard to find, I've learned to google for 正藍屋"correct indigo house" xx-005  ). Looking at the WAYWT threads they both look great on people but all the shop pictures show lots overlocking instead of felled seams and more overlocking near the buttons. Can anyone suggest other jeans I can look at with that kind of detailing? If there aren't better alternatives I'm still considering the s5000vx, there are a couple of shops that look like they still have stock in my size.

  10. Bought these black dukes several months ago and really like them so far. I'm a 32 in everything but I was told to buy these so they'd be hard to button up when bought because they will loosen up, so bought them as 31. As you can see haven't got much wear out of them yet, it's just been too hot to wear them all the time. The high back doesn't worry me, I don't wear shirts in, and it lets me wear the dukes more slouched normally (pics are just to show what the jeans look like). The highish front is good too, it crunches down to look lower and you get the folds around the front waste. I'm hoping they will still loosen up a bit more and wanted to have some stacking at the bottom but when I unfold them, they stack all the way up to the knee not just at the ankle, and I don't like that look. Oh and I'm around 6'2" / 150 pounds or 186cm / 70 kg

These things need a wider belt but I haven't found anything I like yet.

  11. I just bought a pair of black Imperial Dukes a week or two ago so I'll try to post some shots. To me they have a bit of a blue tinge.

The owner of an: other mentioned a web site of denim fanatics so I've come to have a look. Didn't take long to find a supersomething site about denim. He wasn't wrong. :D

Normally I wear a comfortable 32 in almost everything but I was after skinnier jeans and thought the Dukes looked a lot better tight so I bought them in a 31. I'm 6'2" and skinny if that helps anyone. At first they were pretty tight around the hips because of hard tops on the front pockets but I was assured the matterial was preshrunk, and they are loosening up with a week of wear. It's just too hot to wear them ATM to take a picture.

I love the way they look from the front and profile but a bit too hight in the back above the wedge for my liking. But because I wear my shirts out when I wear Jeans that doesn't bother me, as long the rest looks good.
