  1. Jungmaven

    Made in U.S.A.

60% hemp and 40% organic cotton

Can come in short sleeve, $20, or long sleeve $31.

You almost had me buying some.. BUT.. they are 40% cotton and 60% viscose. It's hemp viscose, but it's still viscose. Might be more sustainable but I'm not a fan of viscose in tees.

AA V-necks fit me fantastically well but their crews not so much.

  2. I guess I should update. Not much change since 07. I gave in and copped the Shiny Sharp Notations, and recently pair of FOB 151s to have some fresh looking denim in rotation.

S5000VXs are now very well worn in.

XX-005s are now my main pair and nicely borken in but not there yet.

F151s are the crisp clean new ones.

Dukes (black) don't seem to get much love and still look newish.

Sharp Notations get rarely worn, but love em when I put them on.

That's it. I'm only a weekend warior so it takes me years to properly break in a pair. Next I want something in 21 ounce.

1 Pair of very skinny fluffy slubby straight blue ones.

1 Pair of thin straight creamy black ones.

1 Pair of loose straight heavy blue ones.

I know I don't need more but I'm seriously thinking of skinny very shiny black ones.

  3. Nobody has mentioned it in this thread yet but has anyone else noticed where the side loops are sewn on at the bottom? The loops are not sewn into the thick seam like on most repros but just bellow it. I thought it was a bit of a defect on mine until I saw this picture. You can see it on the very bottom right. Has anyone had one the side loops rip off because of this?

In case someone finds this useful... I've had a chance to try on a few raw pairs in person and in terms of just waist sizing, 32 FOB F151s fit the same as 33 Eternal 811s, fit the same as 32 UES 400Rs. I really wanted to try on a pair of R.J.Blues with the leather pockets but didn't find a pair quickly and ran out of time.

  5. anyone have experience with tailoring in parramatta? I need to get some oxford button downs slimmed and was thinking of going to 'Looksmart Alterations'.

I had some suits fixed up by Sam Disano based on recommendations on SF. The prices are good. Not sure if he does shirt alterations. You should be able to find his number online.

  6. For any Australian sufu'ers out there; Kinokuniya at TGV, Sydney has two volumes of Lightning Magazine in store, and multiple copies of each, in the Japanese magazine section. One is the Denim Indigo Master Vol 47 that is an instant classic, and the other is Denim Style Book 2 Vol 28. They both retail for ~AU$20.

I virtually live in Kinokuniya so I'd be happy to proxy these for people for the cost of the book, postage and legwork.

You're a champion. I just grabbed the last copy of denim indigo master. Couldn't believe they still had one.

They have multiple copies of the white cover Denim Book. I don't think it's the denim style book. They are all sealed so I can't look inside. Can anyone shed some light on what's in it?

  7. Hi,

I was always curious...why is it that some raw jeans that guys wear create hip flares?

When the top block and upper trouser leg is a loose you'll get hip flare. It depends on the cut, your build, and how you wear your jeans.

It's not as obvious in real life anyway. What looks like hip flare directly from the front when you're standing straight will be invisible from a different angle or will look like another fold of fabric.

  8. one thing you may not know is that the trench is made from a wool/cotton blend (very soft btw), with quite a noticeable white speckle through the fabric.

I saw the fit in the AW09 collection pictures. The speckle and texture closeup in the liftout turned me on, well that and that they wrote "wool trench." I was hoping it wasn't going to be a blend but wool/cotton is better than the usual wool/synth stuff you normally see.

Waiting on their response on any Sydney stockists.

The S2A trench looked better in the liftout but epaulettes turn me off.

  9. Was walking past a Jeans West store yesterday and noticed the full window ad for authentic Japanese selvedge denim. The distressing looked pretty awful in the picture but it will probably be cheap and might be ok if they have anything in one wash. What are their cuts like?

  10. I would kop for $150.

I think their lasts are pretty inelegant. Stuck somewhere between a utilitarian last and a dress last. Not working for most of the line.

The dip dyes and waxy finishes are nice, but Paul Smith does the same thing with better build quality and nicer lasts.

If dollar didn't tank I would not kop.

You can't compare these to US$400+ Paul smiths.

I like the round flat toe minimal look of the napoleon in black. Is 150 the standard price and are they leather sole?

  11. Ha yeah it's flipped back to being a bit better for you Americans. Someone was telling me the other day that the Aus dollar had gotten quite strong against the yen wish I'd known I'd of gone here and here now only if I could read japanese...

I wish. For the last few years until about July this year you would get more than 100 Yen for the Aussie dollar and buying anything from Japan was still expensive. It's now 65! I don't even bother looking at rakuten or zozo anymore.

  12. such a depressing night. nearly every single man i seen is in either a billabong or dc or some other lame teeshirt or ghey tootight or tentlike buttonup. fucking disgusting. definitely the places i went...what is everyone else seeing?!?!?!

There is quite a big range of what people wear in the evening in Sydney and it makes no difference which part of the Sydney you are in. In general I think people are dressing much better than they used to. There are a lot more people wearing properly fitting shirts and jackets than before.

That still leaves a lot of awful stuff though. At least a t-shirt looks casual, but when a lot of blokes in Sydney think they ought to dress it up a bit, they just put on jeans and a dark untucked button-up with rounded tails. I think a lot of them do it because their girlfriends tell them to wear it like that.
