  1. Paul T ,

Thankyou for this great link !!!

In an post a few days ago I mentioned the allure of denim to myself , ie US 30/40/50s workwear and teen culture . Seeing such vivid pictures of the clothing that so many of us go to great lengths to find , afford and discuss reproductions of is incredible . I am not a US citizen/resident so my only exposure to the culture which was idolized by my parents and passed onto myself (40/50/60s American rock'n'roll , blues , c+w) has been through tv . Geuniely inspiring pictures (not tv / mass produced Americana) which just cement my affinity with the fashions from those era .

You gotta love those original Levis popping up in so many pics . One other thing , how many of the jeans are dark blue !!

  2. just wear them, and wash them when they need it. if you are looking for a certain result, youre fucking up already. i dont buy 300usd. jeans to get a certain fade, i like quality items, and nostalgia. i love them when theyre new, and when theyve become my linus blanket...

With you on that ....part of the allure of denim to me ,be it jeans/jackets is the nostalgia around 30/40/50's workwear/teen culture . I enjoy wearing this type of clothing . Any fading results I have had have been as a consequence of constant wear brought on by me enjoying wearing these items . I wash jeans/jackets when they need it but that isn't too often as i tend not to wear them hard but if you pay the money do what you want to them in my opinion....as long as you like it and enjoy the results .

  3. Posted before with crappy pictures. So let´s make a second try:

    LVC 505 ´67

11 months wear, though the last three months i´ve worn them more or less every day. Planning first wash in 2-3 months.

Love those 505's !!!! starting to show in all the right places and the contrasting colours are fantastic .

  4. Not really a Lee buff , but have bought plenty of their jeans and Levis/Wranglers from my teens (1980s) . These are a Lee Euro 101z (internal label should state 101z)reproduction from early to mis 90's . There is a thread about this model from a few weeks ago started by Li'l David . Paul T contributes some good info on these . Fantastic jeans made from high quality denim . I have had two pair of these in the last 5 years and recently pulled the trigger on a 1966 replica made by Lee Europe from japanese selvage . These are currently just in at www.aeroleatherclothing.com and also at www.oipolloi.com , pricey but worth it .

  5. And these are some full selvage Lee 101z. I didn't fade them, (found them in a charity shop), but whoever did, did a nice job. They're too short for me really so I have to wear 'em low. Like I said I didn't fade them but just thought they were a nice example.

Sold a pair of these a few weeks ago that helped fund purchase of a new pair of dry 101z 1966 replicas . Looking at these makes me wish I had kept them . Are these made in Malta Lee 101z repros ? Mine were of ebay and used when I got them over a year ago , not as much wear as these , but if I'd kept them........

btw , these go for a good price on the bay (if advertised well) , i scored £51 for mine , looking out for another pair in 34" but this model isn't made anymore !!!

  6. I'm 5ft 7" and 180 , blocky build , prefer regular cut jeans in a 34" L32/34" (love big cuffs) Something like Levi 1947 501XX or Lee101z dont look really slim but are not loose fitting . Being shorter slim jeans can look a bit ott but regular cuts like these will produce a more balanced look . My two cents anyway , best of luck .

  7. Forgot to mention that the good stuff is on the www.lubys-tokyo.com US VINTAGE/MILITARY tab .

Might give the Edwin/Lee 1952s a try , but I am concerned as to wether the leg length may shrink or not . I wouldnt like to have to hem them and screw up the cut and leave them like clown pants :D The 1966 at 34" leg are slim and cuffed look great , even with short legs , but the 1952 come in at 36" and the shrinkage/non shrinkage bothers me .

Anyway , will try to get some good pics sorted and post them .

  8. I have considered purchasing the Edwin/Lee 1952 101z from Aero but any pictures I have seen of these they look a fuller cut than I want (if anyone could prove me wrong please do) At 5ft 7" and 180lb a 34" waist the Levi 1955 501xx is full enough for me . The 1966 101z repro is similar to a 501xx 1947 in cut which suits me fine . I have always been a fan of Lee jeans and have had a few 101js also but again the short length of the jacket dosent really suit my shape .

If anyone is looking for comparisons to 1960s 101z try www.lubys-tokyo.com . They have a stack of vintage Levis , Lee etc..which are really cool , even just to drool over !!!

  9. My pair arrived this morning . These are really neat jeans and a good repro of a mid sixties 101z . The denim is quite dark and heavier than the gold label 101z , close to the Edwin repros quality. Will post some pics later when i get a chance .

As for the Beatles connection , no mention of this on the box or any of the accompanying paperwork or wrapping .

  10. Paul , On the question of LVC 47s cut vs origional cut what is your opinion (if you dont mind answering) ? I have fall 2006 and they are slim . Others have cast doubt on the authenticity of this yet pictures in you book , particuarly of 40s bikers seem to show both loose and slim cuts around the late 40s . My LVC 1955 are very loose in comparison to 1890s ,which i initially thought would be loose . Mind , the 55s (ss 06) are the most heavily dyed inigo jeans i have encountered (four cold / one warm washes and still very dark) Thanks , Mike
