  1. Those boots are interesting. Do you do custom orders for your customers Tom, or did you order a number of boots?

I thought some might be interested in this video, the process of making a pair of Dehner boots. The video is a little dated, but the process is still the same...

Also, does anyone have experience with nitrene soles? If I'm walking on snow covered sidewalks will I fall on my ass? Vibram is probably a better option, but I like the vintage look and low profile that nitrene offers.

  2. Thanks for the pics. That cut does look nice, is it the dungaree fit? After giving it more than five minutes of thought it is a horrible idea to try and buy big ones and cut them down. What are the pants in the top pic you posted? They look like the same color and material as the double front which I really like, but I can't find it on the Carhartt website. I think I'm also going to try the Carhartt Hamilton pants, I just wish they came in the double front colors.

  3. SuperBobo, I do love the Carhart's, but I am really trying to find something without the belt loop / ruler pocket (?). I think I might try out the Cabela's version since they are super cheap. The problem I'm finding with other brands now, is they all seem to have a vintage / weathered finish which I'm not a fan of. I was thinking of buying the largest Carhart's I could find, like a 50" waist, and then cutting and sewing them down to a 32" to get rid of the carpenter details. I think it will probably be more trouble than it's worth though. Oh well.

  4. It looks like they are still working the bugs out of the website, I can only get to it through google cache. There are a lot of items I was hoping to see that are missing from the website, mostly winter items, so I'm assuming they put them up later in the season. The button up windbreaker looks nice, it's too bad they put that embroidered logo thing on the bottom though.

  6. Sorry for bumping a super old thread, but I'm looking for some cotton duck pants exactly as superBobo described in his original post. I would have loved to pick up the Iron Heart's, but it looks like I missed out. Did anyone end up trying out the Cabela's or Bill's pants? Has anything new come out since the last post? Thanks for any help.

  7. Hey Jimmy, I went through www.yque.com. We had a long conversation about using waterbased ink over the phone and they said they would try a mix? I just assumed this is what they meant, because they said they used either Plastisol or waterbased inks. I don't really know anything about screen printing though, so I'm sure you are right. I don't know what mix they would be talking about though. Anyways, I'm not even sure if I was talking to a printer or just someone who answers the phone, so they might not have known anything either. It does feel lighter than most band T-shirts I've bought though, maybe it's somehow a watered down ink? I don't know. I didn't ask too many questions because they were kind of a pain in the ass to deal with, but I guess that's understandable since I was only getting six T-shirts printed.

  8. I've decided to make myself some T-shirts, but since I'm having them done at a print shop, I'm going to order a few extra to make it a little more cost effective. I will update this thread with stock and new T-shirts as they come in. Currently, I'm only able to accept paypal. Please send me a PM if you would like to place an order or have any questions. Thanks!

Printed on white American Apparel 2001 T-shirts. The print did not turn out as well as I would like, but I can't really complain since it was a very small run.

New T-shirt in a few weeks...

  9. In case anyone is interested Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) asked Alan Flusser a couple questions regarding Thom Browne a couple years ago. I don't think he's a fan...

SS: New York is at the beginning of a menswear revival. Michael Bastian, Cloak, Barker Black are creating collections with a level of sophistication we have not seen here in years. Thom Browne is the lighting rod of this group. His designs are based on the classic work of the Brooks Brothers/ JFK 60’s, which I know you are a big fan of, so what is your take on Thom Browne?

AF: Those are the most irresponsible clothes I’ve ever seen in my 30 years in fashion. To charge that much money for a coat that is deliberately short……the whole thing is like, childlike. I understand the sensibility; believe me I understand, it but if you want to sell a customer that, that to me is… I’m sure the allure is that is “new classics†but that is as “fashiony†as Dolce & Gabbana.

SS: But don’t you think that is the customer who is buying it?

AF: As long as people understand that - it's ok. As long as they understand it is of limited longevity, that is ok but I don’t think they sell it like that. Thom Browne doesn’t wear like that. I think it is irresponsible - if I was Bergdorf I would be out of my mind.

  10. i really like this one- it doesn't even particularly look like they're all gazing at fireworks. I see it as an explosion, and everyone is just watching it loom over the city

Thanks Dolly. Technically it's a pretty bad photo, but I'm glad it doesn't look like fireworks. I like it because it looks like either something really amazing or terrible is happening.
