  1. It's been a while since I came here last time.....In the meantime, I finally bought a new B-15C and it's amazing. Now I'm planning to go back to Japan in November - December-ish later this year. I'll indulge my shopping spree there:p - probably I'll buy a N-3B.

I'm sorry to hear that your zip was ripped. According to Buzz Rickson's, the zips they use are so delicate and fragile because they have to use the same zips, in order to reproduce flight jackets with exactly the same specifications of old vintage USAF jackets. In my point of view, it's still worth sending it to Japan for repairing even at your cost. Regards.

  2. Oh! Someone has mentioned my name.....

My Denimes (Kyoto & Tokyo) are slightly different from other Denime's jeans. Normally, the lengths are fixed 34inch with all Denime jeans, but only Kyoto & Tokyo have various lengths. This means that you can find best silhouette jeans which fit you perfectly.

To make a thing easier, here's the chart of Tokyo edition.

    http://www.denime.jp/item/jeans/jeans/tokyo/tokyo.size.htm

In total, there are 82 different type of Tokyo editions available. My waist size is 30inch, so I could choose a pair from 7 different lengths of Tokyo editions (L30 to L37). Personally, it was so beneficial that I didn't have to worry about having my jeans hemmed.

Looking back, when I went to Denime Sendagaya branch in Tokyo, I was quite impressed with the fact that they had all 82 Tokyo edition samples which had been already washed once and shrunk. To me it was good because there's no such a point in trying non-washed jeans on in order to make sure whether they fit me or not.

  3. Also, I need a bit of advice. I'm a 37" chest, but these jackets seem to run a bit large, so I should order a 36 Long (i'm 6'0"), yeah?

You going for 36  ?

    Even I (170cm - 5' 6") am thinking about getting 36 (Small).

Please make sure before you order.

    N.

P.S. I recently bought two Buzz's sweatshirts from Japan.

    I'm glad I went for medium-sized ones. They're smaller than I expected.

If I had bought small-sized ones, I would have had to face the palaver

    to exchange them.......

  4. I'm going to buy a N-1 Navy deck jacket this year. I initially wanted to buy B-15C, but N-1 would be more versatile for me to wear. (Does anyone like N-1 jacket here?)

To be honest, I would like to purchase N-3B, but because real coyote fur is used for around the hood, I a kind of hesitate to buy. Perhaps I should go for United Carr's (budget label of Buzz Rickson's) N-3B, which uses fake nylon fur.....

  5. Hi there.

I have read an article in Red Moon magazine before, and they said.....

"you don't need to oil your wallet very often as long as you use it everyday - when you touch your wallet, that's as if your hands give your wallet natural oil really".

That kind of makes a sense to me.:)

I only oiled my wallet twice - the first time was after sun-tanning, and the second time was when I had a sudden shower and my wallet got wet!:( It was touch and go when I applied the oil, but looking back it was really nothing. I assume those who are against mink oil or neatsfoot oil, might have applied too much oil on their wallets like putting butter on a toast, or didn't wipe off the excess oil and let it dry? Too much oiling also causes trouble (i.e. colour changing etc.)

  6. those look awesome, denime fades very evenly in my experience, need to get them hemmed for my xx type, but my 66's look decent but i havent worn those in months

Hello and how do you do? Thanks for your comments on my Denime jeans.:)

It is being told (in Japan) that most Denime jeans are dyed stronger than other Japanese brands' jeans so that you might need patience to get a good result - no washing at least for 6 months or so. I know many people fail on Denime jeans because they wash too soon! But I must tell you - from my point of view, of course, the quality of the Denime's denim is second to none - probably one of the best Japanese denims available today.

I am very lucky because I can wear jeans while I am working so I could get the result quickly. Othewise, all I can say is; "be patient!"

    Good luck!:)

  7. I have to win too....would surely take a trip to Tokyo....:D

I'm trying. The best season to go there would be in March, April, May and from late September to early November, but the cheapest season is in June to mid July and December, Janurary or Feburary except arouond Christmas and New Years Day. Why? Because the summer is bloody hot (39C in Tokyo this summer) and the winter is bittery cold there.

  9. I think that what I like about RM is their natural leather tan, it makes them special IMO...

Yes, natural (saddle in RM) colour is the best choice if you want to enjoy to see its aging process. However, my friend showed me his black RM wallet and it made me "slightly" change my mind. His also looked cool:cool:! And he said that he didn't have to worry about any dirt or water stains, which I understand:p.

I'll have to win a lottery.....

  11. i've been reading all sorts of bad stuff about mink oil, neatsfoot and saddle soap, so i won't go near that stuff now.

I've been using mink oil over the years, but I personally haven't got any problems at all so far.

But then again, I only use a very, very small amount (this is very important!) of it when the wallet is really dry - probably once a year. I've heard that too much and too often "oiling" could change the colour of leather completely or even worse the quality of leather though.

Seeing is believing, my Silverman had mink oil twice before, but no problem at all.

    Hi again!

I tried to find any picture of my RM wallet after the last post and I've just found a picture of RM which I took on 11/July/2005, almost a year ago. Unfortunately the picture on the left was taken after sun-tanning (I somehow don't seem to have taken a picture before that), however, we could see how my wallet has changed for a year.

The silver snap button gets shinier and so does the wallet - much deeper brown. The indigo transfer from my jeans is inevitable but that's fine with me.

The only con was that I didn't like the wallet rope at all. It's so thin and used to be tangled when I was walking, so I picked up the different one from the other brand. Otherwise, I'm still chuffed with it.
