  1. if it's a head cold with lots of nose stuffiness and mucus, i recommend using a neti pot. it clears up sinuses like no other.

if you use it on a regular basis, you'll be less prone to head colds in general.

  2. i believe it is bill clinton, along with al gore with spock ears. probably a formerly 'republican-hive-mind' comic.

anyway, more details from BiG's site about the denim:

    Detail Updates:

    • Warp threads are dyed black prior to weaving.
    • Weft yarns are white as is common with indigo-dyed jeans
    • Fades like a pair of indigo-dyed jeans.

    • Topstiching thread is same gold color as on indigo version XX-005
    • Rivet and button colors have yet to be decided.

i think i might preorder a pair, oh my.

  3. I'm thinking about picking up a pair of PBJs, but I'm a bit torn - I don't know whether I should get the 003s or the 005s. Right now I have a pair of Calis and Slim Jims, both 30x34, and was looking for something that was maybe a bit fuller cut.

I was originally thinking about getting a pair of 003s in a sz30, but now I am considering getting a pair of 005s and sizing up to a 31. I'm just a bit worried that the 005s might have a similar silhouette to my other jeans. Opinions?

  4. deathmullet: i was looking at the 2006 site, i didnt know that they had a website for their older collections. i see it now, and the detroit is not what i was expecting, i suppose. they are a baggy anti-fit look, which i guess i should have expected, coming from JR

synthi:i know that JR isn't the pinnacle of denim in terms of quality, but in my limited experience of jeans, they are by far the nicest pair that i have owned. the detroits don't really seem to be my cup of tea, so maybe i'll end up getting a pair of pbj xx-003s instead.

thanks for all the info, guys. it looks like i'll be picking up something else besides these in the future.

  5. I'm looking for some denim that has a bit more of a relaxed look than my current pairs. Right now I have a pair of Nudie Slim Jims and a pair of JR Calis, both raw. I like them both a lot, but they're both rather skinny, and while I like that asthetic, it get olds after a while.

The construction and quality on my Calis has really impressed me, on it's own, as well as compared to my Nudies. The selvage denim is top notch, and I am seeing some impressive fading at only 2 months in. This has made me consider getting another pair of Julian Red jeans, and particularly the Detroit model, since I have heard it is a more relaxed fit than the Calis.

Unfortunately, I have not seen a lot of pictures of these jeans, nor can I seem to find a lot of information about them. Julian Red's website has a picture of a pair, but it seems a bit misleading, as it appears to be slimmer than the pictures of the Calis that they have. Does anyone have a pair that can take some pictures, or provide measurements? I'd really appreciate it.

  6. AA shirt - got it for free

    nudie slim jims - $150

    leather chucks - $40

    under $200...not bad.

most outfits that i wear at any given time are roughly around this price. my jeans are roughly 75% of the cost of my outfits, and i find that appropriate considering i wear them so much.

  7. i saw a tribe called quest give one if, if not the, hypest performance i have ever seen. it was an amazing show, and i feel sorry for any atlanta heads that missed it last night.

was crazy, even p diddy was there - he came out on stage during the very last song (which was "award tour", in case you were wondering).

  8. i would get them true to size, as opposed to sizing down. a 34 sounds like it would be best for you.

you have to remember, also, that besides the waist fitting, the thighs may be too tight, especially if you size down. having a 34 waist, i would most definitely advise against sizing down two, and go only as low as a 33, if you must.

  9. i wear a pair of straight leg (slim jims) and a pair of tapered (jr calis) jeans pretty much exclusively. i would consider these both 'skinny' jeans, at least by most people's standards. i couldn't see myself wearing anything much baggier than this, because i am a pretty skinny dude.

i guess thats the thing, though: if you're skinny, then why not wear skinny jeans? i'd rather people look at my clothes and think that my clothes fit me, rather than me wearing baggy jeans and people thinking that it looks sloppy.

  10. i have a pair of slim jims that are not selvage and i must say that i am a bit underwhelmed with their quality. i mean, i like the cut and all, but the denim just isn't up to par. i dont have a lot to compare them to, but i have a pair of jr calis no wash that are selvage, and the difference in quality is just striking to me. the stiffness and feel of the calis just blow the nudies out of the water imo. the nudies are rather 'flimsy', and do not crease very well, which takes them a long time to break-in and fade.

the new dry japan slim jims, however, seem a bit more promising. the weave on them look different than my current slim jims (rh twill v. broken twill, respectively), and of course have the advantage of being made with japanese denim, as opposed to the italian (i believe) denim used in the older slim jim models.

im not unhappy that i purchased my slim jims, as they are still a very comfortable jean to wear with a great fit. it's just that im a little disappointed with the overall quality.

  11. 1MX dress shirts on sale for $20 are the only thing I would really consider buying from there. I have to get them tailored to fit, regardless. The quality of the items do not justify the pricetag at all.
