Any photographers frequent the board?
I'm undertaking a photography unit as an elective this semester at uni and a great deal of the unit involves film, not digital SLRs. I've been told its best to learn on film SLRs before converting to the digital camera anyway so one can get a better understanding of how photography works..
Anyway, I'm thinking of picking up a cheap film SLR off ebay or the like, but really have little idea what I'm looking for. If anyone has any advice or recommendations, they are welcomed. Is it even worth looking into buying a non-digital SLR? Are they that redundant?
Other option is to start out using the crappy uni film SLRs to get my feet with then just buy a nice digital SLR some months down the track..
Any input is appreciated..

Call me ignorant, but I've always wondered what sort of money can be made in the fashion industry, individually speaking.
I can only begin to imagine that the likes of Hedi Slimane, Christopher Bailey, Marc Jacobs and other high fashion directors live more than comfortable lives. Does anyone have any knowledge of what any distinguished designers get payed/earn? I can only imagine that these guys/girls would be living lifestyles akin to those of Hollywood actors and sports-stars.
What about your mid-range labels such as the Acne, Tsubi, Filippa K, April 77, You Must Create, etc., etc.? Are these guys raking it in? I'm beginning to believe that profit margins for such companies would be smaller than I once thought.
I know it is a bit of an open-ended/rhetoric question that I'm proposing as I understand that every label is of course different, and their profit/loss margins are dictated largely by exposure and accessibility within the market. Having said that, I'm sure a lot of you guys may be able to provide some insight and anecdotes into the aforementioned issues..
Cheers.

Looking to invest in a pair of joey overdrives (standard indigo) but I'm a little unsure as to what size to go with.
I wear 29 in Nudie Slim Jims (snug fit), 28 in most Cheap Mondays, 30 in Tsubi Van Wikles (these run small). I would probably say I'm a true 29..?
Anyway, should I stick with 29 or size down to 28?
Cheers guys!

Read the other threads just then, decided that I will probably go with a film SLR to start out with.
So far looking at the Canon AE-1, any others I should look out for?
Also, as I'm looking for a second-hand camera, are there any tips one would give for seeking a camera that hasn't been thrashed? Any tell-tale signs that a used camera isn't in good nick (other than any obvious aesthetic deformities)?
Cheers.
