    P24A-S:

This fits slightly oversized. If you have a mesomorphic/endomorpohic body type, you shouldn't have to size down on these. Let me rephrase, unless you're a smollboye, I don't think you should size down on these. This assessment is purely aesthetic but if you're ectomorphic/built like slenderman, don't wear BDU style pants, it only makes you look even more frail. The waist isn't the issue as much as the intended articulation, if you're sizing down the articulation doesn't look like it'll work as intended (like the P20-S). As a quick recap on features: stotz etaproof construction (functionally waterproof if not certified waterproof); ykk locking fly zipper; press stud main closure; 12 pockets, slant pockets count as four, two detached cargo with ykk reverse coil 5mm zips with autolocking sliders, two raid pockets with press button closure, two back pockets, and two welt phone pockets; reinforced knee and thigh; articulation, that nice nylon seam detail on the inside cuff.

These are your pants if you have a lot of small stuff to carry without a bag. They work well but the pockets have a lot less volume than they appear—especially with the detached entry cargos. For volume reference, I can put a pair of gloves in one side and maybe a hat in the other without the pockets being overladen or bulky. Also, they can fit an ipad mini but not a nintendo switch (s/o Alyxbot). I actually have no idea what really can go into the raid pockets conveniently other than a wallet since the size is so square—Minidisks? Altoids? Ritter Sport chocolate? While these pants seem like the evolution of the P3, I think they're closer functionally to the recent SI:SP combat cargo but they're quite weird since I think they're more aesthetically capable than substantively capable. The placement hampers the use. I think the 16A has the best cargo location hands down, literally hands down the side access without bending over. Back to the 24A, the articulation on these pants seems like an angular iteration of the P16 pattern, effectively. I feel like they achieve the same feel with the severe taper from the knee downward. As to BDU vs BDU, I think the SI:SP combat cargo does utilitarian side of the fashion BDU better than the P24A but I find the P24A to look much better.

FWIW at 5'7" I think I could have sized down to a small and still had the knee articulation work fine, in a M i have to hoist them up but then we knew it was a higher-waisted pattern than most people are used to these days.

I find the raid pockets most useful for keys. They also fit a pack of cigarettes, should one smoke. Love both of my pairs, wish I also had the stotz in black.

I dont know, Maharishi feels the same for me like since I know them (thats like 2010?).

Stone Island (except the money graber pieces like striped longsleeve with badge) feels very good, has its own DNA and constantly brings at least something new/different.

Maharishi has been doing this shit since the mid-1990s.

I’ve been assuming this stuff is basically the “shakedry” goretex we’ve been seeing around—the stuff showing up in mainline arc’teryx and 7mesh—but with a more substantial backer. If that’s the case, shaking it dry makes sense given the name... My only issue is that the stuff can’t be very durable at all if it’s the same outer as shakedry. It certainly wouldn’t stand up to prolonged and repetitive abrasion (from bags, for example).

I think at that Berlin event they made a point of saying that wearing a bag with it would cause a lot of wear, so you are right.

I've used it several times, the weird part of the film out is the fact that when the face of the fabric dries leaving whatever solids were in solution on the face (water marks) It's super prevalent—maybe because of the relative lack of surface area due to a smooth face. I guess you can call it patina but once it gets wet again, it's gone, I guess you really have to shake it off (s/o to T.Swift) once you're under shelter.

Yup, I noticed that on Monday. next time I wear it in the rain will have to remember to do that. It does look so pretty when it’s beaded though. ;)

While we're getting some first-hand impressions, I've been wanting to ask -- the product photos make it appear as though the material could pass for leather, is this true in person?

    Pleather, maybe. Leather? No chance.

Anyone handled the ACR's Goretex Film-Out laminates? I imagine it to be a bit rubbery, though if they break in it would be quite cool. https://acrnm.com/products/J62-PB_NA

I imagine that most people who bought that J62 haven't had a chance to really wear it yet. It's been such a hot summer yesterday was the first day I could leave the house wearing it (and that was at 4:30am).

  7. I am thinking about letting go of my GT-J29A (medium, bag/sheets/etc but not perfect, biggest issue is some delamination between two layers of the gore on the back of the collar) and J44-GT (the first paclite one with the silver zipper, also medium, bags/sheets/etc).

Would also consider a trade for a medium J16+some cash.

I like how if you wear them high up above the waist I can pull the hyper tapered cholo ninja look. If I have it sit at the waist I can do a more relaxed baggy samurai look.

The main thing to size for with some of the more recent trouser patterns is the knee articulation. P17s work fine on the hip but P24As are verging on proper old man belt line status.

Gotta say I think the J64TS-S is one of the strongest pieces by Errolson in recent memory. Feels like a spiritual successor to the EJ4-TS in some ways, but just so many different ways to wear this one. Aggressively Acronym at it's heart and with styling possibilities that echo some of the best by Lang & Raf.

E4J-TS is a lot more grey man than the 64. There’s no reason anyone else would ever know it’s covered in molle webbing when you’re wearing it.

That is so unbelievable, as a 'german' brand with a showroom and company headquarter in Germany, dropping the only local retailer is nearly treason. Sorry for being that dramatic, but I am really upset about this right now.

They weren't the only local retailer. Andreas Murkudis also stocked ACR, although @henrisan says they also got dropped?

I am in the exact same situation, was hoping to get a S size. Was stuck in the Hanon site jam at the start of the drop, went to the acrnm site and only M size P23A-DS left, so I copped that. I also have a P10TS-DS in M but it is a little loose so I have to wear it with a belt; so I'm a little worried at how much leeway I can actually push that draw-cord waistband of the P23... anyway, I received shipping notification from acrnm. We will see in a few days time...

    Buy a belt.

  12. It's a little fucked up for a store like 18Montrose to state that they'll declare values for international shipping so you have to pay import duties, but still charge you VAT. You expect me to give the UK government £215, and then pay USG another $525? AYFKM?

Is anyone familiar with the fw16 anode pants? Im thinking about grabbing one but I haven't had the ability to see one in person and Im also unsure about the washing process...

I can double check the washing instructions later but I haven't had any issues with mine. I am pretty sure they're machine-washable on delicate; will report back.

  14. Who: Jonathan

Where: DC (before that: Lexington KY, San Diego CA, London UK, Johannesburg ZA)

Work: automotive editor at Ars Technica. Used to work in science policy at NIH, before that I was a scientist. This latest career is a lot more enjoyable.

Why: Among other things I've always been a streetwear nerd. Used to be a denim otaku. Resisted getting into ACR for a long time but peer pressure from Kev and others at 5thD eventually got the better of me.

Why: Where to start hmm, as a kid i've always been into futuristic stuff especially the military side it. Ive been a huge gamer my entire life and as a kid i played games like Megaman, Halo, Gundam, etc. As i got older i got into different games, anime, movies and discovered Metal Gear and the plethora of cyberpunk themed stuff which just poured gasoline on the fire. My dad worked in the fashion industry for years so naturally i always been around/liked it. Fashion really started for me with shoes in middle school. Then i just bought normal off the shelf dunks and other random nikes. Of course that led to exclusive sneakers (jordans, SBs) and then that led to clothes. (not afraid to admit) I got into Supreme, Bape and a bunch of other high end street/designer clothing before i got into acronym. The first time i saw it was on a facebook group about 3 years ago and someone just randomly posted the SS14 Jitsu video and i probably watched it at least 20 times lmao. I finally found a clothing brand i genuinely liked. I could go on about all the different reasons i like acrnm (materials, look, battling against shitty michigan weather) but it would be extra tldr. Also Without acrnm i would of also never got into sewing and DIY stuff.

Etc: Ive been building gundam models for 7 years on and off and its one of my favorite hobbies. I love to build and paint. I use an airbrush for most of my kits. I also collect Retro Video games, cards, books and other useless shit that i love.

Ok thanks a lot for the info @drgitlin do you have any in olive? I'm a bit hmm about that colour things tend to look a shade different in pictures than in real life might give those P9s a miss

L-R: P24A-S (washed a few times), P9-S (washed quite a lot), P14-S (not washed yet). The Stotz they used for the P9 and P14 is a lot greener than the Stotz they used on the P24As, which was always much browner.
