  1. Little e redlines still fetch a premium on Ebay, as long as they are described properly and have a good fade/size. Small (30 or less) or Large (+40) can be had cheap.

To me looking at the pictures those are double stitch redlines #6 Button, which advertised like that on Ebay and a good size could fetch 50-60USD

  2. The tag has the silver thread - shrinkage 10%, Tag is paper V stitch near front button

Dont think anyone knows anything about these. If they are fakes, they are the best fakes I have ever seen - quality wise I dont think they are. Seems like Japanese denim to me as well

  3. no - The top 2 lines (rows) of stitching along the top of the pocket on outside (pic 2)

Part where your hand goes in, flip it over and see if there is a single stitch on both threads or if it is chain stitched with several layers of thread. chainstitch is newer

  4. Rivets look good to me - If these are fakes, I would be very surprised. I have 2 pairs of thai fakes, not near the quality of the ones pictured above. I put the buckleback up in the loop like that cause it was scratching stuff. The tag on the inside is identical to a more modern levis tag - no sp. mistakes, made in the usa wpl 423- selevedge on the inside of the coin pocket. Maybe a sample piece? I have never been able to find any info on them.

    Paul T?

  5. I checked those ones in the pic. They are US made Levis - 501-4589, cant find any info on google about them - anyone got any ideas. They look legit to me.(real levis tag, v on top button correct, 501 stamped on top button, etc)

  6. Thats me....

Hey Paul - You are correct in that there is a pair of fakes in the photobucket. I have a couple thai fakes. Those above are Levis Japan if memory serves, but I will have to get them out in order to make sure.

As for the captions on the picture -- I did them up as an 'acid test' of vintage for someone a while back. Used those jeans because they contained most everything we were talking about at the time - even tho they are repros. As for the tag someone was making reference to the famous blank tab as if it ment something in terms of vintage, which as you said only means they were made after 71, meaning they could be made in 2006!

  7. Hey Paul - These may not be fake - Look similar to the garbage Levis used to pass off in Canada as authentic. 'Leather' labels were common in Canada on orange tabs, as well as some red-tabs. I have a pair of both. The red tabs were 505s and made in france(Awsome jeans - would love to get another pair) and the orange tabs 619s

Authentic Levis, but different than the usual ones available in the US.

  8. cool! I wonder if anyone knows how to 'decode' the inside tags as well? Levis will not release it because it is proprietary, but someone on this board might know.

  9. 1983 The red ear model / it divides, sewing model For mass production, because the one which is judged from the cloth whose width is wide is efficient, the denim was adopted widely.

Until recently, as for the part where the ear is utilized, it could apply the lock,

I have seen 83 and 86 quoted in numerous places, so I am not sure which one is right.

I have seen it so many times I would need a ruling from Levis on this one. I say 86 cause of the above site, dont think anyone knows exactly, but if you can post something on it I am all ears....er all eyes!

  10. Yes, the inside stitching is what is being refered to -this indicates a jean made in like mid 1970s and before, with a Big E Levis Red tab dating it before 1971. Redlines were made before 1986, with a denim made on a narrower loom. The model numbers (501-0117) were used upto 1986 when they changed from a 'typewritten' style on the patch to a printed 501xx or 501 in red or black. 0117 refers to indigo color. I am guessing that you have a couple of Double stitch Redlines. Would need pics to be sure tho.

Another dead giveaway is on the corners of the rear pockets. All of what I consider 'Vintage' red tab Levis have Black stitching on the top corners of the pockets, just a quick 'acid test' when looking.

  11. The denim are still in the wilderness, I checked them several weeks ago, believe it or not they are still cardboard stiff, with only slight fade marks. So I now have them soaking in the stream - they have been outside since aug 1. Pictures will follow when I am done!
