  1. And here I thought it had something to do with the mad fade lines that would develop below the pockets...I think we should all be thankful of the fantastic pics, (Fantastic quality, fantastic items) she has posted here off all the items. I dont know about the rest of you but I am tired of all the pics of dudes on here taking fuzzy pics against the mirror of their items - its like, why bother - you cant see the item any sense.

Anyways, Thanks Madeline for all your pics, keep em coming.

  2. (SOAPBOX MODE=ON!) Little off-topic but here goes anyway.

    Hi all,

Sorry but I got to wade into this one as well. Seems to me that the collective we in North America - US and Canada spend or have spent too much time trying to blow each others brains out when it comes to internal competition and not worry about the big picture of what is really happening. It happened in the denim industry and almost all of that has been moved overseas. Take the car business for example - the domestic automakers were all trying to outdo each other instead of realizing what was happening and taking note of the smaller more fuel efficient vehicles coming from Japan and Korea. Now they are suffering. It also has to do with perception in the media - they harp that one product is better than the other ie. cars from Japan are better than US cars - 15 years ago I would agree, but now quality is all the same no matter where it comes from - just like your tv, or lawnmower, stuff works. Everyone in N.A is obsessed with #1, biggest, most etc. RIGHT NOW instead of watching for developing trends. Although I think it is contagious because Toyota is thinking the same way now and if they keep it up they will end up in the same boat as GM.

And soon all cars, tvs, toasters, and DENIM will come from China if ppl keep putting price and quantity in front of quality, and when I say quality I mean quality design and workmanship - because the stuff coming from China will be quality - but in a non-descript cookie cutter sort of way.

  3. Hey Paul, dont some of the recent run of the mill 501s come with 501 stamped on the top button? Im pretty sure I have a pair somewhere. As for thai fakes, I am working on a site containing info from the old sites that have gone down over the years about 501s, and am devoting a whole section to thai fakes and how to spot them. Esp. since eBay seems not to be doing a damn thing about it. The site is only in its most basic stages and although it is live I am not ready to unveil it yet. I want to get all the data keyed in before I start making it into a 'fancy' site.

  4. I am sure Levis would have better sales numbers if they sold the stuff here in North America that they do in Japan. They are not against having a premium line like capital e or lvc, but for the most part that stuff(not all) is definately below their Japan line. And I disagree with the argument that there is no market for it when everybody here, of whom I would guess there are many North Americans are clammering to order Jeans from Japan.

  5. They are still out - and no its not the lighting, its the actual fade. Im guessing it is how the light comes down through the trees as I have moved them from the origional open area and moved them into the woods - hoping for some abrasions from the twigs.

Still thinking on how to do the ATV thing. Maybe put sandbags in them or something

  6. Well - after everyone prob. writing this experiment off here are some pics.

    They have been :

Soaked in a stream for a couple months

Left out over the winter under a shed

Been hanging up in the same area now for the last 2 months

  7. pretty much, def. beats sewing and as long as the stuff can soak in a bit , it holds really well. Eg. putting a denim patch behind a hole in the knee, if it is traced around the hole it keeps it from unravelling more. As long as you dont use too much and it dont saturate it has little or no effect on the 'feel' of the denim. its latex based i believe

  8. I have not seen this stuff mentioned here - It really works! I bought a small bottle off ebay to try and used the whole thing making repairs, I bought a large bottle which will last years if it does not dry out. It will even keep a leather levis patch stuck to the waistband. It is like a white runny glue that sticks within a couple minutes. great for patching or reinforcing denim. You can even use a dab of it on the denim to kind of 'seal' the fray and stop a small hole or hitch

def. worth picking up a bottle

  9. hey chuck, Have you seen/got a pair of red flannel 501? The fade patterns on the 517s are awsome I would imagine 501s would be spactacular! I have 2 pairs of 517flannels, faded pretty good. Post some pics of 501s if you have them
