I always wondered what kind of jeans they are... The beltloops are tiny.
Any guesses?

hate to stir up an old thread but here goes:
I emailed this guy with a polite msg telling him that these were thai fakes. Seeing he had 100 percent feedback and I didnt want him to ruin it. This guy emails me back the following:
Just to let you know I work for Levi's in the Design team here in London and you are wrong these are not FAKE & as you'll see from my feedback I'm a reputable eBayer. I would really get your facts straight before you pass your unqualified judgement
So seeing that I have unqualified judgement(!) I would like some more unqualified judgements from here:

Japan Levi's Repros, the J22 on the button gives it away. Quite common, what size are they and how much you want for them?

how bout synthetic indigo? I have seen many a pair of sunbleached jeans, esp. old ones. I have a pair of Vintage Levis that must have been on a scarecrow or something, they are hidden rivet big e types that are at least 40+ yrs old, and are super sun bleached. I am wondering what type of look a pair of jeans would get if they were worn under a pair of cover alls all of the time.

This my be a bit off topic, but here goes anyway.
All this talk about raw denim panties got me to thinkin, what kind of fades would you get on raw denim if they were worn under something and kept in the dark. The indigo would still break off but you would take the "light" factor out. I bet the contrasts would be awsome!!
And yes I am superbored!!! Stitch me up a pair! Boxers or briefs, I dont care!

the high archs on the rear pockets is throwing me, along with having v stitch and not having rear pocket rivets. I picked these up for 10.50 on Ebay. I love when ppl do a lousy job of listing on ebay!

I knew I forgot one detail, no on the coinpocket selvage. I was thinking 502s, but the zip (Talon 42) was throwing me off as I thought it was used on newer models, and it looks O.E. to me, if its a replacement I cant tell.

I cant seem to put a style or model on these. I picked these up on Ebay, and can not quite place them. The patch is not original, although I think its close to peroid unless they had a jerky patch on them.
They have:
-Talon 42, which looks O.E., V-Stitch, Redline, No hidden rivets, 4 on button, 2 tone stitching, single stitch pockets, and rear bartacks.
The cuffs are homemade too!
Calling all experts! Tks MJ

The first pair is a pair of 1955 series 501 LVCs, some LVC experts on here can probably give the year. As for the second pair. These are a pair of Double stitch Redline 501s. These are the last in the line of vintage levis - Made between Mid 70s to Early 80s. They have 524 stamped on the top button

oh dhalgren, could you post that interview? or a link to it

The jeans are 684 bell bottoms, guessing made around 1980 by looking at the tag. Would fetch good $ on ebay or elsewhere because they were not as common as the 646s. These were refered to as elephant bells because they had more flare than the 646s
The big E tab disappeared around 1971, and there are various models of orange tab big e vintage jeans available

Ya, It was pretty good. Got to put some faces to names - Such as Lynn Downey and Even our own PaulT made an appearance! (unbenounced to him, I might add!! from stuff he did a few yrs ago) There were a few items conspicuous by their absense - no mention of lawsuits, japanese denim and the famous thai fakes. I am surprised that they never mentioned the fakes, as I was in contact with the producer of the documentary and mentioned the booming fake business from Thailand and Ebays ignorance or laziness in doing anything about them being auctioned. I guess they were too far along in the production by the time he contacted me. I also mentioned that they should go and check Madelines store and collection, as I consider this probably the best collection this side of the factory archives or some rich collectors in Japan.
Its def. worth a look, but it just a thumbnail sketch of the industry. The highlight for us vintage buffs is stock type footage of Lynn at levis going through their collection and what goes around comes around vintage in NY

This guy contacted me via my site regarding a bunch of sample and prototype LVC and High End Levis that he found at a thrift store. He bought it up and is selling it on Ebay:
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZpost50modern
Seems like this stuff came out of the factory Levis use to design and manufacture their stuff in the US. I am guessing this stuff should have been destroyed or sent to Africa or something
Some interesting and probably valuable stuff
comments?

Anyone have access to this article? I can remember hearing something about this on a crime show on tv where they entered a pair of jeans as part of the evidence and used the video evidence to show the similarities between the fade on the jeans belonged to the accused and the ones that showed on the video - led to a conviction i think

My understanding is that the A,S,F series were used from around 1966-1968 where the factory were selling seconds, where the seconds were the "F" model
A = No flaws, pristine stitching Grade A
S = Satisfactory stitching may be off, etc
F= Failure - Factory seconds
