  1. I skimmed the site and exited immediately without sticking around to read about their "tech."  If it looks like bad office casual I dont give a fuck what its got under the hood

  2. been searching around for a mid-layer and i think i found something that might fit the bill. klattermusen frode. it's not overly expensive, a good balance between function and form, and the black one has a bit of an acronym vibe to it. anyone with experience on klattermusen gear? i assume its decent shit judging by the price and their descriptions.

I'm gonna try and make my first post in this thread helpful. Swooc and a couple others have inquired about Klattermusen, so I figured I'd jump in...

I have been the owner of a charcol grey Einride (1.0) for the past 2.5 yrs....

Here's a little review I pasted from my old, now-dead thread:

"After a month long wait, i am now proud owner of a Klattermusen Einride jacket, Charcol, Size L.

It cost a pretty penny, and we will have to see whether the dough turns out to be worth it.

In the meantime let me help you guys out a lil with a review.

    First impressions:

-Really original and interesting design: From the short front/long back, to the slim cut that somehow also has extra room across the shoulders to allow for movement without tugging on the jacket, to the sort-of-weird-but- cool hat/hood thing. It is definitely unique.

That said, I think it could use a bit more of a "neck" between shoulder yoke and hood in order to suit those of us who have longer frames, and/or wear ball caps. I hate when I put a hooded jacket on and feel it tugging the whole thing up in a way that binds and is not comfortable. The einride doesnt do this too much, but the hood def works better sans hat

-The fabric has a really nice feel to it. Like, It is the slightest bit "waxy", but nothing like an oilskin. It's sorta strange at first when you put it on,prolly cause I am not used to technical outerwear being made out of cotton.

-Stitching on the body of the coat looks pretty bombproof BUT I am not 100 percent sold on the pockets, nor what they call the "reinforced" areas at the cuffs and hem. Seam taping looks pretty standard--it will probably start to peel after about 5 years like all seam taping does.

-Diagonal zipper works and looks fantastic, as do the pocket zippers. The left pocket is narrower, to accomodate the diagonal cut of the zipper, but it still allows for a hand in it.

Ultimately, this is a good jacket, but there is one VERY DISAPPOINTING factor I should have expected, but was somehow still surprised by: it is MADE IN CHINA.

"But, so is most other outdoor gear in this day and age" you reply! And you would be rite. Except I was under the impression that Klatermusen wasnt "most outdoor gear". I guess in that sense it is. Oh well.

so yeah man. My new jacket. Boom."

To follow up it has held up really well over the past few years. It's not a jacket you wear in a torrential rainstorm, but that's not what its designed for. I have notice several people in this thread judging jackets by whether or not they stay bone dry in a downpur ignoring the particulars of that jackets functionality . The Einride excells in drizzly windy conditions and in the event of powdered precipitation. It is remarkably breathable, and the organic cotton ETA proof fabric feels much lighter and more supple than older more traditional Ventile weaves.

The construction has proved to be solid in spite of my initial skepticism , and though their are a few design tweaks i would make (the absence of velcro or draw cords at the wrists is mind boggling) they have mostly been addressed on the 2.0 model.

All in all i have been really impressed with the jacket and the brand. They make functional outdoor gear that is creatively designed and uses interesting materials and tech. It is also frankly some of the best looking clothing i have seen produced by a traditional outdoor gear manufacturer and i look forward to acquiring more of it when my wallet allows...

  3. like a lot of more pedestrian websites, i think the fit and colors look way worse on Gramicci's than they actually do in real life. least I hope thats the case.

I like the dark blue, black, and "hawk" (grey?) But the japanese 30th colors are def better...what's new though, right?

No fly is kinda wack, but with the easy integrated belt it could be worse...

  4. Got a few choice pieces from my Camo Collection for sale HERE. Is this spamming? Sure I guess so. But It's been a while, I was a contributing member for long enough, and I'm actually interested in connecting this stuff with some good people of similar ilk. A few teaser/contribution pics below

  5. Man the "Urban Tech Wear" thread totally fucking ate my thread's lunch.

After a 2-3 year hiatus I am back and no one posts here anymore. I have thought about why that is, and have a few good ideas, but I will save them for another day, for now, support me and my new baby boy (!) by purchasing some outdoor classics:

    http://supertalk.superfuture.com/index.php?/topic/148421-cftgo-vintage-outdoor-gearcamo-paraphernalia-yardsale/

Yea, I'm spamming my own thread.

    And what.

  6. An finally, one of my grails:

    Gerry "Crazy-pattern" Half-Zip Fleece Jacket , Sz. L (Fits S-M); $100.00 OBO Shipped

This is one of my favorite pieces in my vintage climbing gear collection hands down.

Before Gerry was diluted into a shitty ski-wear brand and sold several times, they made stuff like this Fleece

The color is deep gold, purple, and red. It has a half-zip top with snap-collar and a leather patch logo in the middle of a two-tone square on the chest. The patterning is incredible and speaks for itself. The two asymmetrical zips lead to an internal kangaroo pocket. Condition is flawless with no holes, tears, or smells.

I want this to go to a good home hence the high price. Haggle if you dare :-)

  7. Black-on-Black Patagonia Hardshell Jacket (circa 2004), Sz L: $75.00 shipped $60.00 Shipped

This Hardshell has been to Alaska and back and still has quite a bit of life left. Not the most technically advanced, nor the lightest, but if your looking to stay dry in a minimally branded, well-designed shell for a bargain basement price, than look no further.

Some delamination on the interior as pictured. Seam tape still solid. And best of all, take this to any Patagonia store if/when it fails you and they will give you a new one NQA. I've done it several times. In fact that's how I got this!

  8. Eddie Bauer Down Bomber Jacket with Quilted Lining; Sz L: 85.00 Shipped 75.00 SHIPPED

This is a real find. Made in Seattle-era Eddie Bauer down bomber jacket in navy with quilted mustard guts! The fit is a pretty classic bomber fit without being overly wide like modern shitty versions are. The quality is awesome and this thing is plenty warm. The color combo is icredible as you can see and believe it or not I have rocked this inside out for that very reason.

Talon Zipper, 2 hand-warmer pockets, and wool trim on cuffs, neck, and pocket slashes.

Small tear on neck near collar (pictured) could use 2 or 3 stitches, but great condition otherwise.

  9. Ducks Unlimited x Bob Allen Sportswear Insulated Vest, Sz XL: 50.00 SOLD!!!!

I really love this vest, but sadly, it is a couple inches too wide on my skinny frame.

An awesome take on the classic duck hunt camoflouge with several varieties of duck Silhouette making up the pattern By Bob Allen of Des Moines, Iowa. Tough cotton twill outer with poleyester fill and sturdy YKK Zipper

Hope this goes to a good home and gets some wear!

A nice camo piece from Ranger who's motto "to help you get lost in the woods" is inscribed on the inner tag.

What is there to say really? Awesome, classic, pattern, and a nice arrangement of pockets Speaks for itself...

  11. Band of Outsiders Shirt, Size L: $125.00 (OBO) Shipped in Continental US SOLD!!!

This is a beautiful BoO Buttondown shirt from several seasons ago ('08/'09?). The color was listed as black and cream, but the "black" has a sort of deep brown look to it that I have always loved. Get's lots of compliments. Classic BoO Small chest-pocket styling, with button collar and the shorter-than-average hemline characteristic of their designs. The cotton is a super-soft weave and feels light yet cozy when wearing. perfect for spring evenings out.

Shirt is Missing bottom button. This was a problem with alot of their shirts from what I understand. Both "extra" buttons (one for placket, one for collar buttons) are still intact on the inner tag though so replacement with the appropriate button is quick and painless.

Wool/Alpaca Blend coat from the designer's 2009 collection in a classic olive green hue with a black and white checked lining. Nice pocket details, solid construction, slim fit.

In excellent shape since it was a gift that was not really my style and seldom was worn. I met Hyden on the N train several years ago wearing this coat. He was a super nice guy.

Great deal on a solid, timeless coat.

BStore Captoe Shoes, Size 44: $75.00 Shipped in Continental USA SOLD!!!

Simple, Black, Captoe lace ups from London's Bstore. Leather outer, insole and sole all in good shape. Didn't wear them too often as they were a back-up for my Allen Edmonds. Still lots of good wear in these. Monor scuffing on both toes as pictured. Some spit and polish would shine these up nicely though I prefer them as-is.

I am an 11.5 in US size and these fit me perfectly with standard dress socks
