  1. Talisker's OK, but... it's a Diageo brand, they now do their malting centrally in Glasgow, for all their brands, Caol Ila, Talisker, it's all done in the same place, then once the whisky's distilled, it usually goes off somewhere else to age .What's happened is a crime, on the level of Lev's moving most of their production to Mexico . But I did buy my best man a bottle of the 30 year old when I went to the distillery, which was amazing... I hope he hasn't finished the bottle without me.

The 18yr old Talisker is nice and smooth and rich I've found, dont care much for the younger stuff, its nice but smokey peat with little complexity in comparison. I bet the 30 yr old is a treat!! Interesting note about the distillation - That go for Lagavulin too?

  2. thanks mate! no more olives now, just a bit of laphroaig, want some?

btw, anyone has seen the champions league tonight...Atzec? hahaha

and thanks, Paul your kid is amazing.

Laphroaig? I posted a review of the 10yr old on my blog.

    http://oenophiliaandbacchanalia.blogspot.com/2010/05/laphroaig-10.html

Couldn't really get to grip with it, much prefer an old Talisker.

    Congratulations Dude.....

Im off to find the whisky thread....

  3. I was doing 200 a month before I got kicked off and blacklisted. when you're on the dole you're not suppose to discuss the numbers.

Sup sid, nah man I dont expect you to read all my crap - its just there if you want it....

200 a month is pretty good going dude.

How'd you do that? High conversion for good ads or just shed loads of traffic?

I think mine are to specialized to make money - not in it for that anyhow.

  4. I actually just read Less Than Zero for the first time a few weeks ago. I actually thought it wasn't written that well TBH. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.

Brilliant, disinterested ambivalence - just what Ellis is all about. Meta.....

  5. I have a few blogs, some are updated more than others.

    Firstly

    http://amerkaji-meme.blogspot.com/

Heres my blurb about the site

Amerkaji Meme is a blog about denim, workwear, and quality garments. Heres the blurb about it:

Bit of a shameless plug post however the main theme is linked to an area of interest i've mentioned before. Namely the growing vintage workwear/Amerkaji aesthetic that is proliferating within modern mens fashion. The history of the aesthetic is beautifully simple and well conceived, think post WWII americana meets neo-Levi Japanese artisanal practices via japanophilian fashion geekery. The actual causality, and social/economic shifts that have incubated the phenomena are perhaps much more complicated. Amerkaji Meme will:

    1) Showcase, review, critique and generally enthuse upon/around the ever expanding plethora of brands/labels that align ( obliquely or directly ) with the Amerkaji Meme.

2)Track the histories and cultural/social geographies that have brought the aesthetic and the market to the realm it flourishes in today.

3)Contain influential/inspiration images from the fashions of vintage inspired workwear and denim.

Although I have an awful lot more to say about this topic, for now I will refrain. My musings and theories based around the various social complexities and webs of aesthetic semantics involved with the paradigm will be saved for Amerikaji Meme. However I'd like to clarify the appeal. Fashion design is often fickle, and the very mechanisms that support fashion harbour an innate strata of voracious consumerism - quadannual or biannual titillations for fickle, myopic consumers. But the natural want of something that will last is within everyone. not just this particular phenomena. Everyone wants an item of quality, something that reveals a depth of qualities and characters as it ages with the wearer. This unorthodox quality is not often the driving force behind a fashion aesthetic, I know often quality and materials are focused upon and that only the best is used but rarely do the garments character, construction and heritage govern the overall silhouette of a whole fashion aesthetic paradigm.

  6. I think Less Than Zero isn't the most disturbing of books, American Psycho is pretty bad. But the difference between a piece like American Psycho and Less Than Zero is that the latter has an intrinsic poignance and heartfelt sensitivity that mixes the melancholic power of existentialism with the chronic desperation of nihilism - and all in a contemporary setting. Sheer imagery and capacity to disturb is not what make ellis great - these qualities can be found in many writers ( palahniuk ) - but its the subtleties of his realism and the entrenchment of nihilistic existential torments within his realism that create such devastating effects.......

Ill write more after a good read of it on my blog.

  7. I've been using YSL Live Jazz this past S/S, and love it but it's not a winter scent at all, so looking for one that would work in colder temperatures but versatile enoguh to last till next spring at least.

Currently tossed up between Guerlain L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme EDT and Givenchy Vetyver. I've tested the former and like it but not the latter, which I've only just discovered and seems good.

Anyone have any experience in these?

Didnt know there was an extreme version of Guerlain L'instant. Ive used the original for years, I think it has a lovely balance between sweet feminine notes and masculine animal notes. Cardamom and Cum! It also has a great staying power and develops well into a smooth smell. Seriously you wont be disappointed by L'instant.

If you want a summer scent Chanel pour monsieur is quite fresh but smooth too....

  8. Bill all this detail is fantastic.

The button is great, first thing I thought when I took it out the pack was it looked kinda aztecian, which is cool as it echos the indigo you use for the over dye!

I cant wait to see some pics of the finished belts, they'll be great.

    Keep it coming....

  9. One of my all time favourite books from one of my all time favourite american author

Book is amazing. On some biblical, miltonesque tip..... Brutal.

    Its my favourite McCarthy.

Im currently reading Rick Perlsteins Nixonland.

Looking forward to BBE's Imperial Bedrooms - pre-amble here

    http://notesfromthevomitorium.blogspot.com/2010/05/bret-easton-ellis-imperial-bedrooms.html

Going to be great, cant wait.

  10. cool idea...any chance of a pre dye pic ? don't really see the brown ...

dont have one saved on my hard drive, maybe stored elsewhere.... will keep looking - may well have posted some pre dye evo pics ages ago though. I did the same with my apcs - its a nice thing to do when you get a bit too used to the jeans...

  11. cheers man - im surprised they aren't sold out already seem to be what everybody wants, the 811 but slimmer.

Hows the rise and hip flare? From the details im guessing the rise is quite a bit lower than normal eternals?

  12. TBH, i wouldn't recommend eternal for a summer jean. i personally like wearing old worn in jeans during the summer ---HOWEVER, I got this pair of 883s right around spring time and i haven't been able to take them off.

i say hold off on eternals until september-october maybe for the contest? they're a moderate weight jean and that isn't so fun when it's balls hot outside.

fit pics of the new 883 would be nice, look to be a nice jean.

  13. Supersonic - doesnt really make much difference, you could argue that the raws have a darker colour but by the time you soaked and worn to get em to fit the difference will be negligible.

Dont Iron jeans, cowboys dont iron.
