  1. really good to know..didnt bother with a soak but was caught in a rainstorm today and now they're even more stiff

    Hilarious.

I too was caught in a rainstorm in mine a few days ago, and man did they get stiff. I worried about shrinkage, but had none.

These jeans are absolutely my favorite.

  2. This looks like a good spot to post the specifics of the soak of my raw Sorahikos this past weekend (thanks Rirawin- these things rule!).

I soaked them in cold water inside out for 15 minutes and hung them to dry.

These are a tagged 29 that felt about 1 size too big new.

Here are the before and after numbers:

    Before - After

    Waist 31 - 29.5

    Rise 9 - 8.75

    Inseam 37 - 35.5

    Thigh 11 - 10.5

    Knee 9 - 8.5

    Hem 8.25 - 8.25

They shrank exactly as I hoped they would; to a very tight fit that will stretch out to perfection.

  3. Here is an excerpt from the last e-mail I received from Mami Akasaka of Somet:

"The denim we always use in SOMET Jeans is not sanforized(as only guide), so

lengthwise the denim shrinks about 3% and broadwise shrinks less than 1%

after first wash. As you said, it will become softer and stretch again after

daily wearing, but just a little."

Perhaps we need to re-examine the effect that Sanforization has on shrinkage.

  4. The thigh is quite slim.

I have no muscle on my legs and these fit me snug.

If you have bigger legs they will be very tight, but then again they do some stretch in them so you may be able to deal with it.

  5. I have dry black slim jims and have yet to put a dent in them.

    Copy that.

My SJDBs show nothing but some honeycombs, and I've had them over 6 months.

All the Nudie dry black denims are lighter weight and not as rigid. Combine that with black rather than indigo, and you've got a jean that is much more difficult to break in.

My I.A. Hiro Ito's are breaking in better than any other black raws I have had, and they have some stretch which also usually slows the process. Suprising.

  6. I have a pair of the Hiro Ito, worn them at least 20 times(sitting a lot), and the fabric really does maintain it's shape. I also have a pair of Thin Finns that contain a bit of Lycra, and they bagged out after just a few wears.

As far as fading goes, my Hiros are showing better wear than my other black denims(still nowhere near as much as indigo, though).

I'll try to post some pics soon.
