  1. Sam, does your store do online/phone orders? I was impressed by the repertoire of brands on your site.

We most certainly do take phone orders. I will also take orders through my e-mail listed above or PM me.

Here are all the labels in stock now:

    Denim

    Nudie

    Atelier LaDurance

    Imperial

    A.P.C.

    Edwin Japan

    Kicking Mule Workshop

    Crate

    Earnest Sewn

    Corpus

    Iron Army

    Tops and Outerwear

    Filippa K

    Nice Collective

    Uppercut

    Earnest Cut & Sew

    J Lindeberg

    Band Of Outsiders

    Rogues Gallery

    C&C California

    Le Dirte (local)

    Akure (local)

  2. Not to hijack this thread or anything, but Imperial is now available at CONTEXT.

This means that everyone in the US and Canada can finally get these jeans without having to order dirct from Australia.

Check the thread in Supermarket for all the details.

    Sam

  3. Okay everybody-

Its been a grind, but after 6 weeks of wrangling and spending a small fortune on freight forwarding and customs brokerage, CONTEXT is fired up to be the first American retailer of Imperial Denim.

I know you want ‘em, you know you want ‘em, so here’s what I’ve got:

    Duke Raw Indigo 30w – 34w

    King Raw Indigo 30w – 36w

    Duke Washed Black 30w – 34w

All three are going for $245.00 US.

As usual, 10% off for SF’rs and free shipping in the US and Canada.

Before you ask, no, I could not get any 29s. They just started making them, but had none to ship for at least 6 weeks. As most of you already know, the Duke is slim and fits a bit small, while the King is relaxed and more true to size.

Please e-mail me at [email protected] with any questions and your orders.

You can PM me, but I will be able to respond faster via e-mail.

I have only have 52 total pair, so get at me fast.

  4. Not trying to defend Barney's, but the RRDS U.S price will go up from $265 to $275.

Now that change won't happen for my store till spring, so who knows?

I woudn't be suprised if Barney's was marking them up over regular retail.

  5. ok ok, i'm going to bite the bullet and get the somet 14.5oz basic straight jeans.

differing opinions as to sizing abound here, as usual, can those who already own the basic straight jean please let me know their sizes:

    a) normal size in other denim

    B) size in somet basic straight

    c) size in APC NS, if applicable

also, do you think it is worth asking OWN webstore to hem them for me? i usually take a W30/L32 - but my two pairs of APC (with 36L) i haven't needed to hem, just cuffed slightly.

    cheers!

    I'm usually a 28 or 29w.

I got my Basic Straights in 29w. I could have done a 28, but Somet thought that that would be too tight. Since I have many very tight jeans this strategy worked out perfectly.

    I wear 26w NS.

Have OWN hem them only if they will chainstitch. If they won't, find a good tailor that will.

  6. Viv-

Mine are the basic straight indigo. They are slim, but not as skinny as my NS orCrate James. More along the line of Slim Jims, but with a shorter rise.

These things look great with more of my wardrobe than any of my other jeans.

    Akura-

I have only worn mine 8-10 times and I have noticable abrasions and fading.

Like Snuggs said, black breaks in much more slowly. If you wanted fast break in you should have gotten the indigo. Keep pounding on them and you will see results eventually.

    Apu-

You would have to have absolute skeleton legs for the thigh on the basic straight to be too wide. I have skinny-ass legs and these fit great.

  7. Definitely a lower rise than the NS- about the same as the Ola(maybe not quite as low), although my Olas are a much lighter weight denim. You would think that this would be more comfortable, but not so. The denim on the Somets is much heavier and much more rigid, but they are no less comfy. My boys have had zero trouble residing in them.

    They still are my favorites.

  8. She knows.

She's very interested- gets quite excited each time I bring home a new pair. Sometimes she notices that I'm wearing new jeans before I tell her.

She also knows the Nudie pocket stitch- both me and mom have Nudies.

I showed her the post and now she wants to check the responses - so thanks for all the kind words everyone. It puts a big smile on her face.

  9. False Prophet-

Thanks. The jeans are RRDS at about 10 months not washed.

The belt is the black ALD belt and it is the coolest jeans belt I've found.

    Phrost-

The lack of hand pockets is what I love about this design. Helps it keep a slimmer look (no bulge from the pocket flap) and it's unique.

As for the denim tuxedo debate- I don't wear these together, I just threw it on with what I was wearing to get this pic done.

I agree that you gotta be the right dude to pull off the tuxedo look, and in my opinion it should only be done with matching brands; ie; RRDS w/ Conny, or ALD Royal Pant w/Royal Jacket- thus requiring even more "dudeliness" to pull it off.

  10. sam113's shrank 1.5" in the waist and inseam after a 15 minute soak, that's not very little. they will probably shrink a little more after they're washed as 15 minutes usually isn't a long enough soak time.

I agree. I deliberately did a short, cold soak as I didn't want more shrink than I got. If I would have done a longer warmer soak I'm sure they would have contracted more.

  11. sam113, can you post pics wearing the Atelier LaDurance Royal jacket? I tried it on at a store, but I didn't really get to see how it looked on me. I was definitely digging the Novelty jacket, though.

At long last, here is the Atelier LaDurance Royal Jacket.

  12. Sneaks:

My Vans TNTs are supercomfy. Dunks are good too, but it really is no contest.

    Boots:

My AF60s should be arriving today. I'm fully expecting them to overtake my old Doc Marten ginslingin' 10 holes as the most comfortable boots I own.
