  1. I'm doing some illustrations of London themed interpretations of some traditional tattoos so I was browsing flickr for inspiration and found this, which I think is awesome.

Who did this and is there another unsettled side. I might have to get something similar to this on one leg and the unsettled on the other.

  2. anyone have the Hori Smoku DVD? worth buying?

Got it from Netflix when it first came out a couple of months ago. I can say that for someone who had no clue who Sailor Jerry was or no tattoos for that matter, it was an awesome documentary. Lots of good interviews and information about the man and how he changed the world of tattooing. If you get a chance to see it or pick it up, I recommend it.

  3. Something I started working on last night. It's still rough and needs a little work, but it's coming along.

The Strand Bookstore. During the day, hundreds of thousands of people pass through the doors and millions of books pass along with them. I like to call this place hell, because of the way that the customers treat me. Granted that my right arm is completely covered in tattoos from my shoulder to my wrist and because of this, I discover that that this was the only place that would hire me when I came east for school. Being an English major, I jumped at the chance to work here, thinking that all day I would be discussing the greatness of Joyce, Palahniuk, and even Burroughs with the customers that came in and out of the store. As it turns out I was wrong. Most of the time I’m either stocking the shelves with new trade ins that out lovely customers bring in, going through said trade ins, making sure that there’s nothing such as condom wrappers, book marks, or other various things that can be found in between the pages, and getting bitch at by the customers, mainly because they can’t find the book in the 2.5 million books that they are looking for. But it’s better than being a broke college student like most of the kids on my floor.

  4. they are sanforized, so if you're looking to shrink them, a soak isn't going to work. if you are just looking to get the starch out, then go ahead.

Yeah, I kinda figured when I read a few posts back. I just want to get rid of the stiffness that they have initally and also get rid of some of the excess indigo that is on them so that my legs don't turn blue when I wear them.

  5. Finally got to go to the NYC store yesterday, the first time in over five year that I stepped foot in Uniqlo Store since the ones in Jersey closed. The place was a mad house, as expected, but that god I got what I was looking for.

I managed to get a pair of selvedge S-001s and it was well worth the price. I'm going to start sometime next week wearing them, after I soak them first.

  6. Does Uniqlo still make a slim fitting chino pant? I'm probably heading down there to pick some stuff, since I haven't been to a store since the three in Jersey closed in 05-06, and might be interested in picking up a pair. Also, they still make a selfedge jean right?

  7. my thoughts on the first two episodes of How to Make it in America:

    - i dont really like the latino character, i dont know if his acting is bad or if thats just how his character is

Are you talking about Luis Guzman? I think he's acting that way, because his character is some kind of hustler or something.

  8. i doubt this show will turn into entourage

its younger, hipper, more real, hopefully will stick to the street huslting vibes. we'll see tho

This is what I hoping for. I really like it because it's a little more realistic than Entourage in a sense of the "real world." I really hope that they don't get cheesy with the dialogue and keep the vibes of trying to make it a big. Also, Kid Cudi needs more screen time desperately.

  9. RobertRyanRobertRyanRobertRyan

I kind of figured out that this was going the be the answer. Come March I will take a ride down and talk to him about getting tattooed.

  10. I JUST GOT TATTOOED AT ELECTRIC! weeeeiiirrrd.

You can park on 4th (the street at the end of the block that the shop is on.)

no metering... but lately the beach towns have been BUMPIN', so good luck finding parking if you go at night. Otherwise, it's free!

Alright, thanks. Now if I can ever find the time to get over there. I guess that there's always spring break

Tom Yak is the man, I hope he's your artist at Electric!!! So I just got a schedule with Duke Riley last night... he's inking my ninth tattoo in March.

I'm debating between him and Robert Ryan. Both of them do the classic old school style that I like, but I'm leaning more towards Ryan, because of the odd stuff that he's done. Any personal choice or reference?

  11. My dad wears nothing but 505s, but he beats the crap out of them and wears them until they are falling apart and almost white. They're tattered and have holes along the back pockets, but he will never give them up until the are falling apart.

  12. Hey MyAcademy or Yardbird, maybe you guys can answer me this question.

I've decided to get my first tattoos done at Electric. What's the parking like in that area? Meters on the Street or is there some kind of lot? I know it's a little off topic, but I need to know.
