If you're going to sandpaper, make sure you've got a really soft-grade sandpaper available. Using any old sandpaper will cause not only a grainy-looking fade but higher, sharper contrast than you would like. Also, consider rubbing sawdust, sand, dirt & rocks on your jeans as an alternative or in conjunction to sandpaper. I did a whole whack of shit to my RRDS out of lack of patience (including tea/coffee stains) and in pictures you can't really tell a major difference between artificial and natural fading, but up close it's a different story. Just be mindful about how much your jeans cost you and whether or not you can afford to make mistakes with it. They're just jeans after all...

doin it doggy style would only fade your butt if YOU were the one........too gay.
Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer rightt? You actually think I was being serious? Have you seen the caliber of questions being asked on this board lately?

So should we just be going with tag size, instead of sizing down?

I honestly think if you're of an only slightly slim build, you size one down. 2 if you consider yourself quite skinny.

maybe wiggle it more in your seat, although you might get skid marks, I don't know.
How 'bout doing it doggystyle?
Is it just me, or will I remember the title of this thread for a long time?

Of course you want high quality denim, that's a given. That doesn't necessarily mean selvage. Like you said, it's a niche market, and those who prefer selvage more often than not would prefer raw as well. Same goes for hidden rivets, button flys, felled inseams, vegetable indigo, anit-fit etc, etc, etc.

I wouldn't spend the money to buy selvage if it weren't raw/one wash anyways. Anyone looking for a good washed/distressed jean probably could care less about selvage, the jeans are already faded!

Well, Nudie makes only two models in selvage denim - Regurlar Ralph (slight bootcut) and Straight Sven. Assuming that you want your jeans raw, I would suggest you get the selvage ones. Nudie's selvage denim comes from Japan and fades differently than their Italian non-selvage denim.
BTW, how much are RRDS in Oz these days?
Baggy Bjorns are orange selvage too, and left-hand twill.

When I fisrt bought my sugarcanes, I thought i messed up on the size too. Did a hot soak and everything was relatively fine. The thighs are still kinda on the big side, but the waist is perfect.

Fourth. I want me a pair of kings real bad.

I sized one down to 27. I hope that does the trick

I definitely think that a tighter jean will produce MORE fading, that's not to necessarily say it will be better. The type of fit will change the whiskering, honeycombs, etc.
I'm still undecided, though. The picture helps somewhat as I have bigger thighs (at least in comparison to my calves). The 28 measurement definitely helps.

I think I'll change mine down to a 27 as well. Once they show up, I'll decide whether or not I'll do a warm or hot soak, and hope for the best. The 'slightly bigger thigh' is what changed my mind...

Only if you wipe out as a result.

Yeah you're totally right. Sawdust over sandpaper.

Why not just buy dark predistressed jeans? Same difference. This is all part of the trendiness of raw denim, people don't know what to do with them. They probably buy them and say...."ok now what?" People get bored with the slow processand want to speed up the process via sandpaper, starch and now paper clips!!
Well, i was guilty of being bored too. You look at all those great pictures of jeans and think to yourself, 'man, I can't wait until my jeans look like that.' Then you sit there, and you wait, all the while, looking at more pictures of other people's jeans. It's pretty monotonous.

Price is fixed, let's focus on other matters, like the proposed website, some rules, payment arrangements for Beatle, and what the hell size we're all getting.
I'm still undecided. If they are anything like my Premium Edo Ai's, I should possibly size down, but from what I'm hearing they're slimmer, so my big concern is rise. I sure hope we hear some answers on that soon.

It would have been too easy to be mean. "Paperclips? On your honeycombs? Word?" He could keep trying, but I doubt he would get anywhere with it. It's just too much work to apply paperclips to your jeans everytime you take them off. It's ridiculous. "You know how hard it is to catch a monkey... and then fuck it?"

Well no matter what the numbers and prices end up being, I think we can agree the Beatle's done a pretty stellar job thus far.

Why don't you just sleep in them? Problem solved.

God damn am I regretting buying a new pair less than 2 weeks ago and being broke (in the very near future) for a myriad of reasons.
I'm almost sad too. I'm going to NY in 2 weeks, and I'll probably walk out of BIG empty-handed.

I'm in favor of the individual blogs as well. The only drawback would be if they weren't updated regularly enough and remained bare for the most part. There should be a rule about that.

I'm going to drink Mountain Dew and throw myself down a Mountain...dew.

I think we should let the folks over at Samurai dictate the rules. Starching could be considered cheating by some, and for others, it's part of their daily routine. Clips and sandpaper are obvious, but going out of your way to get better wear could be considered cheating too. It's just like that stupid "Go to the gym in your jeans" thread.
is cheating allowed?what i mean is, y'all should clearly specify:
no hand-rubbing
no starching
no sandpapering
no clips
no performance-enhancing substances
no dogs
no shoes
no shirt
no service
or whatever
clear rules, i mean
