  1. Sorry I haven't posted anything, I've been really busy. I did manage a soak on the night of Nov 1 and another hotter soak the next night. No newspaper though. I haven't gotten them hemmed either, but I did take them snowboarding today. Left some indigo stains on my boots and bit and pieces of the inseam have faded slightly. I like the stacks but I'll definitely get them hemmed at least a couple of inches.

  2. I doubt afford-ability has much to do with it, as the market is flooded with expensive jeans. I think the North American vision of premium denim is skewed towards consumer demand, which unfortunately happens to be an uneducated consumer in most cases. A lot of my friends are either into designer denim like Diesel or R&R, or will wear anything they find comfortable for less than 80 bucks. Even when discussing Japanese repro detailing with my friends in retail, they still don't get it because all they care about is what looks good, what looks expensive, and what sells. If anything you will see the purity of Japanese product become filtered by American/European companies by offering high quality japanese denim, complicated washes (or more recently one-wash), and modern-cuts. You shouldn't really care whether it's niche or not, do you actually wear it for what it is, or because nobody else wears it?

  3. Maybe she's just being nice because everyone's been so patient. I dunno, I'm fine with soaking today, tomorrow, next week, whatever. If I go home and there's a paper sitting on the kitchen table, that's my cue to hop in the tub.

  4. Okay , than... May the fun begin !

1 year - it's actually frightning....all those jeans that we'll buy = and not wear...this is so mad....

I'm actually glad that I have a solid excuse not to buy any denim for a year. I might actually have some money in my pocket for once.

  6. I just picked up this jacket about a month ago and I can't wear it with any of my jeans. I'm not the type to wear denim on denim, but i don't think it's a fashion crime. I might not be the best person to be talking about it though, cuz i tend to wear the same things casually as I do to go to work...

  7. Looking much better. The puffiness is also due to the thickness of the denim, and the fact that you had so much stacked at the bottom that it was puffing out your thighs and crotch. Once you break them in they'll drape a little more. It's still a very relaxed-looking jean so if that's what you're going for, then good choice.

  8. Looking good Beatle. I think I'll still stick to my own AA shirt (if I choose to make one). I think I'll also put a samurai logo or graphic on there as well, possibly just a red-upright rectangle with the word samurai on it, with the 'A' upright.

  9. I'm betting twelve am used more than just starch, the area is just too white. I didn't know they came rigid, I thought it was just raw one-wash. Next time just spray with starch and blowdry hot whilst in crouched position. You'll hopefully get a little bit of shrinkage and tighten up the honeycombs. Don't be surprised if the front-side and profile look fucked up at first.
