  1. @ grundletaint: definitely the right size, anything larger would have been a loss. You have a lot of hard work ahead of you...

@rvoe 30: I like the butt fade a lot. Good starting point to do much more.... I refer to Slusho's incredible jeans several posts up....

  2. Not in my experience. Probably depends on what format/software/pic server you use. I use tinypic which has a mostly reliable resizing option. Always got the size posted here that I wanted (after very early try-outs where I first had to learn a bit...).

Good luck with your soaking and the little suspense of putting them on again afterwards.

  3. I never understood why APC has this crazy vanity sizing. I also think you'll be fine. In the past when I had trouble closing the top button of my jeans, I simply wore them with a belt and left the darn button open, works fine and is hardly noticeable.

Yeah, I sized down quite a bit. I normally wear a 30x32 and I got size 26 PS. I'm loving the fit aside from the waist so given the rest of them don't stretch too much these should be perfect.
  4. Common technicolor, a little masochistic suffering is what a true denimhead secretly craves.....

Seriously, the more you wear them, the better it will get. And I do think it's very commendable that you still describe them as one of your favourites!

Mine are also very tight, but I really like them that way, plus they are a good reason to stay half-way in shape!

  5. Hey Shoe *grin- isn't that the domain of women, to be so heavy into shoes, and we guys have our denim thing ???*

Only thing that comes to my mind is trying with a larger cuff, as they seem to be quite long and that may at least contribute to that knee bulge. Also wear wear wear, as the fabric becomes softer, the unwelcome bulge will get less obtrusive.

Sleeping in them -while I haven't done it in a long time-I find always cool, in a "rocker on the road" kind of way. Had I been your sales guy, I would have advised one size smaller!

  6. That's interesting, and to me, somewhat weird, Grouse. To me, the feel of denim is very VERY central, and these feel especially nice and true, with their slubby roughage. They are actually the jeans where I enjoy the feel most strongly.

Goes to show how different we all are, I guess...

Anyway, keep wearing them, they look fine, if very early in the day, so to speak.

  7. Freezer works just fine for me. Overnight does the trick, but longer does not harm. I've left some jeans in the freezer for weeks this season (before they were supposed to go to a repair job for heavy crotch damage).

But you can put em in a bag and put em in the freezer for how long(can someone let me know) or let them air out in the night cold inside/out. Wondering it will probably still be dirty but does it kill the smell for sure because i'm deciding on getting new cures or petit standards and i wanna wear atleast for 6 months before the first wash.
  8. Nah, air them, put them in the freezer if needed in case of some odour, a little smell (and usually it's really not half as bad as some people seem to imagine) should never deter a real denim head.

  9. Absolutely second aleopold.

They look way too un-used to me to consider any contact with water. My hunch is that even the 7 month mark may be rather early in your case, but that can obviously be decided when the time comes.

For now, keep on wearing them, and enjoy them , they look great - if, as of now, quite unfaded.

  10. Good heavens, those are the most extreme jeans I've seen in a long time. Sensational. Cool is no word to describe them.

What on earth do you do in them to get the butt that much destroyed? What denim did you use for the repair---and who did it for you?

    I'm impressed! I'm envious!

  11. Yeah, I agree. I'm a strong believer in going commando in jeans, almost always do it myself. Not just for any weird fades, but for the great feel of denim on the skin in general!

    Thanks.

I've them for 8 months now. In terms of wearing them out like 4-5 months. All I did over summer is sit around the house and now I bike with them everyday. I washed it for the first time like 3 weeks ago.

I regret not going commando when I washed it cause now I have weird fades on the thighs from what I was wearing underneath.

Oh and sizing...I measured my waist as 27 so I bought a 25 and now it sits on my hips and measures like 29-30.

  12. Zelah: Yours look nice, a little looser than mine, and somewhat more faded. What size are yours and how much wear did they get? I'm impatient for some more fading...should do more radical things in them than walking and sitting, I suppose.

  13. Hey Vanquish-good to hear from you and nice to know that you're still taking an interest in these!

You have seen Grouse Allergy's entry a few posts up, according to which size 31 is available at Farinelli's? Or you could slim down and re-try a 30 ;o), these should absolutely be worn tight!!!

  14. Thanks guys. Your faithfulness to our little project is appreciated.

Repair: it's not just the money, my mum's really good at it and I feel that no one else can offer the same amount of control over the repair-what gets and what does not get repaired, exactly how is it done and so on. So please do bear with us for some time longer on this one.

I probably should say a word or two about 386, who, like the jeans, also is in some kind of temporary retirement apparently. He has to cope with a lot of things at the moment and I trust absolutely that his commitment to denim in general and to our jeans in particular will be, while shelved at the moment, endure and get back into full swing....

I miss our more frequent contact and will keep trying to re-establish it, but also don't want to get too pushy.

You can all be sure that this thread will NOT simply "fade away", there will be updates, even if it takes long, and no matter what the news are or will be!

  15. Here are my SExSC06 now that I've started wearing them for their second season. I can't say that I'm too impressed with any fades, you have to use a looking glass to find them...okay, looking yery closely will do as well. One slight crotch damage that I'm not yet getting repaired (but advice on what denim to use for any repair job for these already is appreciated). What I love most about them is their feel. Awesome-true stuff for a denim head.

  16. I know it has taken long, and almost everyone will have given up. But (I almost fear I've used this saying here before...) those who have been presumed dead do live longer.....

This is how our jeans look like today.

Their story of the last few months:

They have travelled across the Atlantic again in November, have been worn, then came a very long, very cold winter and they had a temporary retirement period. With the return of warmer weather, back they went into service, with some increasingly alarming damage, as documented here, causing a rather soon new temporary retirement, as they now await repair.

And this now again takes longer then anticipated, as my mum, the trusty repair person, stubbornly refuses at the moment and keeps claiming these are beyond repair and I should stop wearing such ridiculous jeans. Which we all, naturally, know to be complete nonsense, and the jeans only begin to get really interesting, but still, as those holes will increase in size with every wear, I'd rather continue these tricky negotiations, confident that at long last I will get that repair job done.

Jeans are, incidentally, still unwashed, but spent a longish time in the freezer for olfactory reasons.

And guys, before you all boo at me: this is the very first thing I do since I got my camera working again TODAY!

  17. Hello everybody.

A brief update for those who are still inclined to follow our little project, after such a long "news-less" time. Today we've had the first real day of spring after a horrid icy winter. 15 degrees (metric, of course), and a real revelation after all this cold, damp, dark and seemingly never-ending arctic climate. I immediately resurrected our jeans from their hibernation.

They feel tighter than I remember them....I obviously have gained a little weight . But they also still feel absolutely great to wear. The smell is a bit stale, like I know it from 2nd hand jeans. So the topic of washing them will have to be addressed, sooner or later, in any case I reckon before they face their next transatlantic trip.

  18. I think they're incredibly cool. And though I'm always the strong advocate of being daring and wearing jeans ripped, in this case even I would prabably argue in favour of a repair job....
