I really like the guy in the top right of the photo doing the l for loser sign to the other side of the table. No doubt I will be informed which denim legend he is.

the band from manchester that i thought really blagged it were the charlatans
The Charlatans were from Walsall although the singer was from Manchester I think.

dkatz - there were no subcultures back then, just hair, guitars, feedback and DMs. Oh and the Neds had two drummers.

Aah the stourbridge scene. Happy days. First albums by neds and wonderstuff were classic. That scene produced some of the best band t-shirts ever. Never really did forgive my mum for returning my PWEI 'sample it, loop, fuck it and eat it' t-shirt to our price records on the grounds of decency.

A little bit off topic but Kiya is following an interesting selection of late 80s/early 90s west midlands indie bands on twitter. Somehow, I never associated Kiya with Ned's atomic dustbin. Great band though.

Agreed, it is scandalous but it has to stop somewhere. That is way too high for a fairly unspectacular brogue nowadays. Would rather spend same-ish on a pair of Alden colour 8 longwings.

So, I haven't bought new pair of nice jeans since like 2006. I've bought a couple of pairs of Uniqlo, but am ready to splurge again on some proper denim.
I have a pair of 1947s that are on their last legs. I've had them for years - they're from back when Sugar Cane was still putting the Levis-looking tags and logo on everything.
I'm thinking of buying a new pair (despite the fact that prices in the US have gone up about 50% since I first purchased them) and was wondering if the quality is still as good as it used to be.
If not, is there anything new in the game that I should know of? I know I'm not going to get another pair of Sugar Canes for $160, but perhaps there's someother brand I'm missing out on?
I would like to hear about the quality of current 1947s too. They can be had for dirt cheap now and it is the sort of cut I am after (rather than the 2009s).

Yes I got a 36w in the xx-type from 2009 and I should have sized down one really. Please hurry up and buy something though!

The cream drover blouse is definitely the one, the blue one is a little bit like the blue chapparal blouse (until you look at it up close of course). Looks great on the MF site pics with the model wearing the brown/orange flannel underneath.

I'm really edging towards a pair of 634s' for some reason at the moment, just a good cut and I can live with the needlessly heavy weight.
Mega - are you buying either the jeans or the jacket? Im not sure about the model's Jimmy Corkhill styleee!

Denim looks nice and dark on those jeans.

Not a bad deal at all. Of course no 34s otherwise I would have...

I knew it would be one of the top men!
I dont see much about the 0105 cut anywhere, are they as tapered as some places suggest or just a good 50s cut?
