  1. Unfortunately, as it has been stated, NA distributors are bound to the new pricing structure as of Aug 1st, so we in the US have little choice but to pay to play. I got my pair for $265 with 10% off from Denimbar in the DC area last month, but I can say that the purchase was well worth it.

The jeans are at the top of my rotation and look phenomenal with anything that I wear. Of course, I'm bitten by the dry bug now and I'm starting to eye some other jeans...

For those on the fence, here are what mine look like after 1 month:

  2. It all depends on what you do for a living and what point you are in your life. I'm a 31 year old husband and father that works at a research company in DC... and while I don't have to wear trousers and shirts every day to work, I wear them 4 days a week out of choice. Fridays... I'll throw on my Nudies or Evisu (Japanese, for all you nitpickers).

Truth be told, if I wasn't a senior manager, I'd be wearing jeans and polos to work every day, but image is everything in corporate America. Plus, most people that look good in jeans look just as good dressed up once in a while.

  3. So I was helping my wife find a new pair of jeans, and lately I've only felt the dry denim or dark washes, so I steered her towards a pair of Earnest Sewn Hefner in the Maz Dark 3D. It's technically not a dry denim since the manufacturing information on the inside shows that it was "wet processed", but it strikes me as being fairly unwashed.

The jeans need to be altered, but I wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience with the shrinkage of Earnest Sewns. Should we expect 3-5% shrinkage in length or more? These jeans are 100% cotton, so I'd imagine they'll shrink more than jeans with some form of elastane in them.

I'm leaning towards cold washing them and hang drying them off the bat then getting them altered.

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

  4. They might as well call this board the Superdrydenim board.

Lau... I'm a recent convert. Well maybe convert isn't the right word, but I hail from a skate/punk background, so dark (namely black) jeans have always been a staple in my closet. At a certain point, I moved away from skate brands (used to have 3 pairs of Stussy jeans in the early 90's) to more Euro brands (read: Diesel/Helmut).

Being that I'm not an uber-denimhead (although I do only wear jeans when not wearing work clothes), I usually buy 2 pairs of jeans every 2-3 years. Well, it was that time again this year and I went looking for jeans... only to find that the market had been flooded with what I call "Hollywood denim" - i.e. stuff that celebrities wore and seemed to mostly hail from California. I had a hard time sifting through the glut of denim brands... but I did know I wanted something dark, not processed (distressed), and clean.

My (sometimes zealous) research led me to Nudie and I ended up getting the dry RR. Fact of the matter is I couldn't be happier with them. They're clean, cut just how I like my jeans, and I love the investment needed to nurture these jeans. It takes that obsessive jeans mindset to a new level. If I had to nitpick, it would be that I might have liked the stitching in two colors rather than just the bright orange.

I'm just going through the process of "aging" them now. I'm one month into it and hope to wear these for many years to come. For other dry RR owners... I know the waist stretches through wear and will shrink slightly (3%?) after the 1st wash. Would you say the waist ends up larger or smaller than its shipping size after the process? I normally wear a 31 in Diesels (and trousers) but ended up with a size 30 dry RR... and think I could have stood to go up one size. Might be an excuse to get a second pair.

  5. IMO, Diesel and Helmut have been "heat" for longer than many other players out there. You have to respect Diesel for that. I myself have no reason to not wear my 5 year old kratts or even my 2 year old rabox, other than the kratts have the ultra-distressed look that seems to be back in vogue this year... which I'm not feeling right now.

I am feeling the unwashed, dry denim... and coincidentally so are a lot of editors out there it seems. But who cares right? I'm extremely happy with my dry Nudie RR... they just happen to be selvage. I picked up a pair of (Japanese) Evisu 2017 from the Aoyama store earlier this month just because I've got to pay homage to my ties with Japan (went to HS there in late 80's/early 90's). I almost asked them to not paint the gull on the back pocket... but I like light blue. What am I going to do?

It seems a lot of the brands that SF people are shying away from are the Hollywood born brands, since the exposure and distribution runs counter to that underground vibe brands like APC/Nudie/ALD give. And I don't blame them. Would you buy a hybrid just because Leo has one? If you don't like it, you don't like it... and a lot of the PDC/Seven/True Religion stuff seems uninventive.

    My 2 yen.

  6. Maybe off topic, but I'll ask.

Anyone know where to get older Vans? I'm specifically looking for the first Salman Agahs (circa 1993). My searches have been limited to the web, so if anyone can guide me to some stores that I can call, it would be much appreciated.

  7. Hey Mauro...

I'm the guy that bought the Nudie RR earlier this month. Can I bring them in after the 6 month break-in & wash to get them hemmed, or am I on my own?

Also, can you get any of the Nudie jackets? I'm digging their Conny & Marten in dry.
