there are a ton of people on this board that are better schooled than i am, but i am still pretty positive that your jeans are not STF.
the denim used for the 600 series (646, 684, etc) is a different type than what is used for 501, 505, etc.
just because they are raw, doesn't mean they'll be shrink-to-fit...i'm pretty sure the denim in 646s is sanforized
can someone else confirm or deny what I've said?

as far as i know, 646s are NOT shrink-to-fit. they are preshrunk.
i'm sure they'll shrink a little bit with a wash (maybe 1%), but not to the extent that STFs would.
the warmer the water you soak them in, the more they should shrink, but don't expect too much

i got one from an army/navy store in downtown nyc...the label is "camber"
made in the usa, very simple and VERY warm...i can wear it in the dead of winter with only a t-shirt underneath and it does the trick
and i don't think it cost me more than $35-$40

i rock my 506xx with a pair of 501xx's all the time...both started out deadstock and i'm trying to get a similar wear on both...sometimes i even throw in a vintage western shirt underneath...haven't gone so far as to don a pair of cowboy boots or a hat to complete the outfit though

here's a great shirt i came across on ebay:
i think this particular type of levi shirt is rare...i've only seen two or three come up before...the fabric is cotton but it's heavier than most...almost like flannel. i have one (though with different colors and the snaps have painted stars on them) and it's by far my favorite. i'd bid on this one too but it looks way to big for me.
anyone have any additional info on this particular style of levi shirt?

i decided to check out your claims and measured a pair of the 'newer' deadstock '47s i just bought...you're right, they do come out to around 15.5" across the waist (tagged 32")
however, i also have an older pair of deadstock '47s, and they measured just about the same...actually a bit smaller.
i did the same with a pair of the newer deadstock '44s and they are right at 16" (tagged 32" as well).
my guess is that there's quite a bit of slight variations in all of these jeans from all eras.
i must admit, however, that i have yet to wear a pair of the 'newer' LVC, so their overall cut might be a bit smaller than those of the past

i thought this was interesting since lvc just released a similar item (it's a sweatshirt though) in the uk

i'm thinking about getting the 1905 model...check them out on the RW website...they also have a store locator on their site
RW dealers should be able to special order any style you want

has anyone tried ordering from them the 'hawaii' jeans everyone's raving about?

i'm in the states, historypreservation.com has both brands of denim, but the buzz's are much more expensive.
are they that much more superior?
plus, has anyone ordered a rickson sweatshirt or work shirt from historypres? if so, how are they?

this season's US LVC is certainly having trouble getting into stores (even more so than usual). it seems like they shipped out a bunch of rigid '47s very early (like june/july), and are very late in getting the rest of it out...i know that they've dropped at least two items that were part of the collection featured in the booklet, but i've also been told that everything should be out "within a month"
who knows...i never seem to get a straight answer from anyone at Levi

the shipping price wasn't stated in the description...i'm not trying to bargain...it just seemed high to me and i wanted an explanation...if he has a decent one, i'll pay it no problem...it's just that he hasn't responed to me at all since i askedQuote:why do people bargin with shipping/handling. it drives me nuts. what is stated is what is charged

no, i haven't paid yet...the price wasn't in the description
i've sold a lot of things on ebay, such as jeans and sweatshirts, and when shipping within the US, i've used the flat rate shipping method...there's a box from the post office you can use and shipping priority is a flat rate of $7 or $8.

i bought this '60s levi cord blazer on ebay and the guy wants to charge me $16 for usps priority shipping...i figure he could just use a flat rate priority box for $8, and i suggested this to him. i added that it was only a suggestion and i would be happy to pay the $16 if that's the best he can do, but i haven't heard back from him...it's been 5 days since the auction ended.
was it out of line for me to suggest something like this? how much longer should i wait before a pursue it any further?

check the number stamped on the back of the top fly button...if it has three numbers ('555' or '554'), it's most definitely a repro...if only one number or a letter, it's most definitely an original...no number or two numbers could be a little more tricky
sounds like a good buy either way, but obviously MUCH better if they turn out to be originals

i guess you can buy directly from levi
3 lvc items but nothing impressive

i prefer essential oils over cologne...
kiehls 'musk' or 'pour homme' are what i use

are there any websites that carry their products?

yeah...
it's pretty impressive hoe clueless everyone is about the status of this collection...
another thing, don't bank on anyone at the levi stores contacting you when the item you're looking for does come in...even if they take down your contact info

I know for sure that stores are carrying the rigid '47s...try the Levi store in SF or American Rag in LA...I know the Levi store will do mail orders. As I've said before, an associate at the Levi Store told me about the production problems, but I e-mailed Levi and they said that everything (less the Wool Shirt and the t-shirt) was going to be available, but then proceeded to give me the runaround when it came to providing specifics about where and when these items would be available.
It's been pretty frustrating and confusing trying to get a straight answer from anyone.

I spoke with someone at the Levi Flagship in SF and they informed me that they only had the 'Menlo' leather jacket, the 1975 trucker denim jacket and the deadstock and finished '47s in stock. He said that they had expected to receive the whole collection by the 18th of August, but there have been 'production problems' and the rest of the collection probably won't be available at all.
pretty disappointing if you ask me...

yeah...the levi stores in nyc and sf i'm sure of...i'm pretty sure barney's does as wellQuote:does any stores in the us do phone orders for these?

i'd say the next pair of sneakers i'll buy will be 'no sweat' canvas hi-tops

they should be available in some of the stores that carry LVC here in the US...they've been part of the past few collections here...but availability is limited
i don't think they're available elsewhere in the world
