  1. i have a few suits for work but my favorite is this all black suit from agnes b that i got a year ago. fits like a glove and is cut well. slim-fitting. only cost about $600.

my next suit will most likely be mtm or bespoke from seize sur vingt here in nyc. i remember hearing of a tailor that makes custom made suits for $750-800 for wes anderson, jason schwartman, et al. anyone know who im talking about?

  2. i went afterwork on friday...pretty packed as i expected...my girlfriend got a t-shirt and pair of jeans that were nice...i bought the katan jeans size 31...nice shade of denim and they fit great. and i ran into my model friend from high school which was fun.

only stupid thing was a changing room that was unisex where there were like 10 men and women in their underwear changing. if 10 people were changing together, its not much of a changing room no?

jeans were $80, tees for $20, button downs for $75, and some other stuff. there definetely were a lot of stuff there so if you go next week, i think you'll have no problem finding something. though, i wish they had more hooded sweats.

i think the sale lasts until next weekend.

  3. im gonna go tomorrow afterwork...didnt feel like getting the shaft if they were strict on friends and family.

im a size 31...do rogan jeans run big or small?

are there a lot of jeans there? lots of shirts and sweats? any women stuff for my girl?

    thx

  4. favorite meals at favorite nyc places:

katz's deli - extra lean pastrami, little mustard on club bread with sour pickles and a big glass of dr. brown's black cherry soda with ice...as good as it always was.

corner bistro - bistro burger, side of fries, pint of mcsorleys...preferably at 2am on tuesday nights. note that the burgers arent as good as they used to be.

tomoe sushi - sashimi deluxe...hunking plate of the fish...all hella fresh...all hella good...worth every cent.

fresh - kobe tuna, order of pemaquid oysters on the half shell, glass of white wine...amazing, underrated seafood place in tribeca...unbelievably perfect tuna treated as if it were kobe beef.

bubbys - garlic burger, cooked medium with bubby's margarita (rocks, salt), with 2 sides of macaroni and cheese...followed up with a slice of sour cherry pie a la mode or chocolate peanut butter pie.

cafe habana - corn on the cob with cheese, garlic shrimp with yellow rice and red beans with a dos equis...just perfect.

chip shop - fried scallops and shrimp with chips, pint of old speckled hen...if you dont die of a heart attack...try the fried mars bar for dessert...walk home crying.

brick lane curry - fried garlic cauliflower appetizer, chicken tikka or madras...fuck, everything is amazing at this place.

bouley - black sea bass in a sea scallop crust, glass of lagavulin (neat), chocolate frivolous for dessert.

beso - saturday brunch...glass of strawberry juice, cafe con leche, latin eggs benedict (or crab cake empanada).

  5. doesnt APC have some huge ass warehouse sale in Williamsburg? i went there like 2 years back and it had tons of awesome stuff.

i figured the sales wouldnt really start until this week...i better get my ass in gear.

  6. ive been too busy at work and with the girlfriend to have any time to check out the local shops...im gonna be free most of the week and figured id see if any shops were having any series sales since it's january.

i know opening ceremony is having a sale and so is famous friends...anyone else? how's union lately?

  7. im gonna be there myself for a few days next week...im pretty familiar with london but was hoping you guys would have some new recommendations.

i remember floral street had some good shops...duffer in shorts gardens, slam city...near carnaby i liked the red dot shop but that stuff is getting tired fast...also liked that shop nearby with the alife stuff among many other things (forgot the name).

i think the ape and hideout are in golden square? there were some good shops nearby. size was good for sneakers...

if anyone has more restaurant recommendations...id totally appreciate it. also, any good bars?

  8. i actually disagree with you guys on that point. one thing that's been turning me off is the glut of t-shirt labels sprouting up in every store. its like electronic music...it used to be good and then everyone realized they could do it and now you have a ton of it in the stores and its hard to find the good stuff.

while i like the idea of the little guy getting his piece of the pie, ive rarely found anything exciting by the smaller labels that pop up out of small apartment studios, etc...

  9. yr totally spot on.

ive been interested in this stuff since duffer really broke big in 98/99 or so. these days, the only things i like are from noah, prps and the occasional something from red dot...but its more about the quality and fit of the clothes than design or graphics for me...it always was.

in nyc, there's always been this dividing line between hip hop/street clothes and more designer, cool stuff...i was always in the latter so stuff like recon and bape never really did much for me. bape is really the new evisu for the mainstream hip hoppers and to be honest, im hard-pressed to justify spending all of this money on a shirt these days.

rogan is okay but sort of got hijacked by the hollywood/LA crowd. duffer has some nice suits but their casual stuff is crap for years. i liked aurora borealis and hel is (whatever) from the oeuf guy but im not sure what happened because i cant find it here.

  10. saw their stuff at nom de guerre here in nyc and liked the quality...any info on the label? what do you people think of it? just good quality stuff.

  11. i like this place but its too expensive for the stuff...

but the noah sweatshirts are nice and heavy...the rogan stuff is good (rogan always fit me well)...and they have prps which is nice.

surprisingly, the guys who work there are pretty nice.
