  1. Hmm, are they lighter? If they are and raw. maybe veggies?

no, theyre pre washed reg ralf original selvedge...for some reason, they charge around $450 for these at barneys and atrium. i dont get it either. all i care about is that they fit me like a glove, theyre the perfect shade of rpe wash denim and they cost me $65.

  2. i usually hate this place but stopped by today to get some stuff for my apt. they had some pretty fucking great stuff for the fall. really nice acne jeans black fall coat...sort of military-esque...was $200 from $700. some actually nice stuff from nicole fahri, margiela, costume national.

but the real kicker were the nudie jeans. i found a pair of original selvedge reg ralfs in my size knocked down from $450 to $65. they made a mistake and mis-tagged it but i think they did it on a few. ive wanted these jeans forever but never felt like shelling out $450. they fit like a glove.

seriously, go check out century 21 since the fall stuff just came in...good shit.

  3. i was there about 2 weeks ago for the second time. i used to hate vegas but its really who you go with. first time was with my boring ex girlfriend who thinks everything is sexist. second time was with my sleaziest best buddy.

food: awesome food off the strip...rosemary's on sahara, lotus of siam was overrated but still great thai food. watch yr bill...they totally try to upsell you if you let them. in and out burger is rare for us new yorkers so that ruled. also, peppermills for all day breakfast is the shit. hash house a go go on sahara is also amazing but huge...split an order with yr friend...everything is massive and cheap.

bar: beauty bar on fremont is awesome. saw the supersuckers in the back. they were great...just a good vibe there. double down saloon is good. i met a chick and took her to fireside lounge next to peppermills...we banged.

clubs: didnt go to any unless they were strip clubs. spearmint rhino is pretty great...go in there with $150, get a drink or two, and get the hottest stripper to give you a private dance. otherwise, enjoy blocking tons of hot ass girls from the sticks as they come over to you.

palimino is far off the strip but very sleazy and all nude...with alcohol...good times...skankier girls...better chance of getting laid here.

  4. where are some spots i need to take my girlfriend too...i know this is massive and broad...but i assume she doesnt wana spend a shit ton on things....she does like uniqlo and the sort....or a good shoe store where every shoe isnt 400 bucks....thanks.

ive spent enough time with ex girlfriends to know there are a lot of places to go to. for cheap and massive, century 21 actually works for women...as opposed to hetero men. there's tons of women's stuff...relatively top names and styles...good prices.

there's a bunch of smaller boutiques that my ex girlfriend bought really nice stuff at...my favorite was noisette in williamsburg...i think its north 6 by kent. really nice french labels...not cheap but super pricey.

just a walk around nolita would find a bunch of womens places. 'find' is a good store as well around there. they also have a find outlet in chelsea...i think on 17th street.

  5. What does Famous Friends have on sale?

famous friends...as usual was pure shit. some terrible 5ep stuff, a few random no name hip style tees in boxes...all shit.

i am killing myself for sleeping on those brown paul smith shoes...i was hoping theyd go down to $49...and now theyre gone.

icarus my friends...flew too close to the sun of warehouse clearance sales.

  6. also, for those of you wondering, there were no $50 KMW's. And if there were, there wouldn't be, because I'd have bought them all

dude, im holding them in my hands...2010...$49. they had a stack early on sat morning in size 30 and 32 only...they werent there when i went on sunday.

i think i lucked out big time at this sale...

  7. whats this 'arrive' sale you speak of?

also, is famous friends closed (9th off ave B)? i walked by saturday after odin and den and they had the place shuttered...on a saturday at 2pm.

if i remember, i didnt see any kicking mule on sunday...just sat...and they only had 30 and 32" waists. lots of engineered garment stuff for cheap...lots of lame trovata stuff, kim jones, surface to air, and nice collective.

as for the email, i didnt get one either...just lucked out in the end.

  8. anyone been to Den in NYC in the last couple days?? Its switched from Cheap Monday to Odin Clearance sale....wondering if it would be worth my time to check out....

i was gonna stop by odin early saturday after sleeping at my girlfriend's place and it turned out it was the first day of the den warehouse sale. there were a few dorks in there but i picked up a pair of japanese selvedge kicking mule dark jeans for $49 and bought my friend a green nice collective jacket for $59. i happened to be nearby today so i walked by again and they had some new stock. i picked up a nice casual nice collective pair of pants for $49.

in short, great prices...hit or miss selection. im definitely gonna stop by a few times before it ends. as for odin's clearance? it sucks ballz. nothing i can remotely think of buying.

  9. eh, wasnt very good if you ask me. i prefer nudie regular ralfs and there werent many in my size (30-31). there were lots of nudie shirts and jackets but to me, their clothing is crap...its for kids.

im not a huge fan of acne...i just dont think its a quality brand for the money. they had a nice suit jacket but nothing i was interested in.

as for prices...nothing outstanding...jeans were $100, outerwear was $200. i just wasnt impressed at the selection or prices.

  10. im going to be in london in may for 6 days and kind of lost touch with whats going on. the last time i was there was in 2003, and i was much more into going to all of the clothing shops and going out.

this time around, im 26 and planning on eating more than shopping (especially with the $ sucking so much). id still like to get some advice on what to check out...namely art galleries, good pubs or nightlife, and some other stuff i shouldnt miss.

anyone have a website that lists london concerts?

    thx

  11. i went around 11:30 this morning...skipped out of work. glad i didnt go at 8:30...i figured itd be mobbed.

crowd wasnt too bad...no line to get in...just had to deal with dudes trying to act casual and calm as they snap up clothing.

as for the stock, not as good as their previous sales. i always find a few things to buy. im actually a big fan of the steven alan line so i was pleased. im a small and unfortunately they have no decent pattern shirts in small. the ones they had were pretty ugly. i did buy a navy blue blazer for $99...regularly $350. i was kind of bummed but went downstairs and actually spotted matching steven alan navy pants for the jacket for $25. they need to be cleaned but $125 for a navy steven alan suit in my size is fine by me.

bought a button down shirt for my girlfriend...i figured at least one of us should have a nice one.

ill go back on sunday probably...though, i dont remember if they lower the prices at the end.

the engineered garments stuff was ok actually. lots of that, lots of large sizes, lots of levis, and trovata...

  12. didnt realize some of you guys were from hardcore...kinda funny how people evolve.

i used to go to every show back in high school...from 93 to about 97 or so...in nyc, i guess it was the 3rd wave of nyhc. was in the pit with ray beez from warzone, saw sheer terror, no redeeming social value, crown of thornz, 108, leeway, murphys law.

i was more straight edge in high school which was dumb as shit in retrospect but it did keep me out of trouble. i was pretty turned off by the chuga chuga metalcore/gangsta stuff like madball and skarhead but it was all pretty fun.

all the nyc clubs closed down and so did the scene. i kind of hated that i missed gorilla biscuits at cb's last summer but spending $200 to see them just doesnt seem right.

  13. im short (5' 7") so unless its a custom suit, i have a hard time finding a good suit that fits. im also something like a 37 or 38 short.

for me, agnes b suits are perfect. i have 3 of them and they all fit very well.

    next suit is mr. ned.

  14. I'm going on a trip with the girlfriend in a few weeks to the above places. I've only been to LA before...I printed out the maps for San Fran on superfuture but it would be awesome if any of you guys listed your favorite things to do in each city, favorite shops, favorite restaurants (casual cheap grub like bbq or korean or fine dining), and assorted art stuff or stuff like that worth checking out.

I've lived my entire life in NYC, my style is more Steven Alan and APC than Good Enough, and I dig music and art...and all food.

I'm particularly interested in Las Vegas as I'm not too big on the bullshit normal stuff...any cool country bars or something original and not a joke?

    thx in advance...

    old school superfuturer.

  15. depends on yr style.

misshapes @ don hill's on saturdays

    fat baby sun-thur

    happy ending sun-thur

    subway inn

    john street bar

  16. im thinking of going to montreal with the girlfriend. if not, a nice dinner and a quiet night with friends.

i fucking hate nye...always shit and you get charged wayyy too much to be in the company of utter wankers.

  17. niche brands came to soho because regardless of its ties to art in the 60s to the 80s, it was still rife with cash. same thing with the west village...both areas were the first to get the chain stores and designer shops...not the lower east side. despite the income profile change of the people in the area, the east village to this day doesnt have any major chain stores east of 2nd ave. aside from maybe starbucks.

in the defense of the 'old days,' any new designer or store back then would have tons of hurdles trying to make that rent check and stay in business but now its just out of reach completely. you still see what are perceived to be 'successful stores' closing down in the east village or soho cuz they cant afford the rent.

all across the city, the landlords and real estate developers are killing all chances for independent stores to survive. i have a distant relative that had a bakery in the west village for 40 years but had to close because they raised the rent just too much. so some new shop comes in paying obscene rent, closes in 6 months and the landlord does it over again.

but this thread isnt about rent...but they have killed what was great about nyc...just take a look at the new crap bars opening in the LES...not the small, mom and pop places that there used to be.

  18. there was a piece in the ny times a few months back on...sobro...south bronx.

showed artists renting lofts there cuz they got priced out of everything else.

i doubt itll get popular but id totally live south of 125th and the west side.

  19. ill also add that everything was a lot more spread out...very little concentration of stores. i remember walking 8x around the entire village from chinatown to soho to the LES to the east village to the west village to union square.

you'd hear of a store like alife or recon opening and you'd walk all the way east to check it out and then check out some thrift store on ave a and 12th street...and you wouldn't think twice about it...not even in february...

antique boutique was the first store i remember going to...back in like 92-93...and then when they added new designer stuff like nova or mandarin duck, it was the best men's shop in the village...especially when they had a sale and i scraped together some money.

there werent many places to hang out in soho per se. there were a few clubs like spy bar and stuff but it was still the hot places back then...not for young kids.

    ah, the good old days.
