    Levi's Vintage Clothing

Makes sense that the sleeves are wider in a 60’s version. The 557(xx) for example also has wider sleeves compared to the later 70505 iteration. I actually prefer it. Now that I think of it: Levi’s had a sort of comeback of ‘White Levi’s’ in the 90’s with a product line called White Tab Levi’s. Part of that were also the jackets with a label that looks similar to the older 60’s versions. Here is an example: https://www.carousell.com.my/p/levi’s-denim-jacket-white-tab-vintage-213741456/ No big E, but it did have a white tab. Here is the commercial:

I have had a couple of these in different colours and still have one in light brown. I collect vintage and once and again I stumble upon one of these. Almost all of them are big E (at least the ones I had). My gut feeling is that these were made in Macau in the early years of overseas production and possibly also Hong Kong. Made for the Asian market and Europe. Nice and cool vintage looking jackets. Mostly in coloured corduroy but have had them also in a lighter denim fabric. The Slim Fit label also had a version made in USA, but I think it was specified on the neck label. So, these were vintage, made around late 60’s early 70’s. The Japanese stores probably had leftovers. Check out my Instagram @michielstax to see a few of these jackets. Nice that you bring these up!

What are your jeans doing today?

@julian-wolf Wow man, I am already in awe of those photos alone. Truly wonderful and amazing. Boy do we have a beautiful planet when you think of it.

    Vintage Denim?

@Facini Thanks for sharing that jacket, so cool to see you wore it since deadstock! That washing process is also nice to see, I always enjoy washing something that old and see how it comes out. Let alone something deadstock. Value wise it’s a little bit difficult to tell I think. I collect and sell sometimes as well and the stuff I sold went for reasonable prices. Nothing high like some eBay sellers are asking. I also don’t think eBay is the best place to sell (though I don’t have any experience there so please correct me if I’m wrong). A network of fellow collectors or denim enthusiasts would feel better I think. Maybe via social media if you have the followers ofcourse. You have a good size though, slightly large but that’s better than too small. If I would give an indication I think anywhere between 300-600 is reasonable based on what I experienced. But, it really all depends on what someone wants to give.

    Levi’s 501 and Cone denim question…

I’d say the cooperation between Levi’s and Cone Denim gradually became less after the shift to non selvedge denim made on wider looms. Just a thought however. No idea if before that all 501’s were made of Cone Denim but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because you’d want a consistent product, in this case the known 501 jean made of a specific denim fabric.

Yep, that’s what I meant! Interesting, I had a S506xx Valencia street and it was poly stitched, found that peculiar.

^ Thanks for the comparison! Too bad LVC put an R on that red tab. Out of curiosity: what’s the stitching on the LVC, poly or cotton?

Damn I need this one. Looking to replace the orSlow I have which unfortunately had poly stitching that I didn’t like.

That’s a nice pair you’ve got! Cool that it’s your size. I’ve got a 605-0217 in that same font style, sadly too small for me. Great denim. So we have two fabric types here (both selvedge): 0117 Shrink to fit 0217 Pre-Shrunk

Nice! Do you have a full fit pic? 0117, is that selvedge?

Yeah but seems more than a rumour from what I read. Anyway LVC does not have much good things to offer if you compare them to the Japanese repro brands. Gone are the days of Cone Denim and the Sawtooth and Sunset shirts (those were great). They might blend it in with the main line, who knows. Time will tell.

Anyone else heard rumours about LVC shutting down after next season? Not sure if this is true.

    Vintage Denim?

For me the most cool about that jean (or pants?) is how wearable it still is and how f*cking cool you’ll look in it : )

    Vintage Denim?

I removed it. I wore it unwashed for a day and it was not comfortable with that patch. Thick piece of plastic. Figured it would damage the fabric as well if I would leave it on.
