I’m a lil surprised at the hate for the J113-SD. It’s kind of charming! The hood is super cool, with the profile shots almost giving Raf alien coat, and the fabric texture on the orange one looks sick — I’m looking at the shot of the back here. Actually that orange is pretty cool period, I’m glad to see E keeping trying new colors. The coat kinda reminds me of a puffer jacket from like the 90s, except it’s not a puffer jacket. I don’t see riot division at all, with the weirdly off-kilter and kinda sickly looking zips. Also the bottom pockets look absolutely jumbo, and if they hang so as to not bulk out when they’re full as well as every other Acronym jacket I’ve ever owned, that will actually be v useful. Also also they hang in a great spot when the sling is used.

The black is less exciting and the jacket sling change is whatever. Overall the jacket’s not for me, certainly not at that price, but I’d take designs like this over goth spikes or huge logos any day. I hear you about it being totally different from when Acronym was putting out bangers every season ten years ago, but like, he already did that? and isn’t that space is a little played out by now? meh I know we gave this specific convo like six times per year so I’ll shut up.

The amount of whingeing that takes place in this thread dedicated to a brand is predictable for online communities but still extremely annoying. I noticed the discord isn't as bad in that respect. It's okay to not like everything but the tenor here is as if they haven't released anything good in years

    Of the recent releases:

J122-GT, J117-HL-EX, P38-SS are absolute 🔥and something I am actively going to try and add to my collection

J104-WS, J113-SD are not for me but I can appreciate the vision

BK3-PS, S36-PR are something I might consider at 50% off or more.

That's really not a bad strike rate given you don't need that many clothes to get by. A few pants, a few jackets is all you need in a techwear wardrobe

I'm a little late to the discussion, but I just wrapped up a trip to the beach and decided to use said travel plans as an excuse to purchase a pair of SP29K-M.

Comparing to SP29-M, there are a few quality of life upgrades. Similar to P34-E, there are small patches of GoreTex that serve as reinforcement in high-stress areas. And similarly to P24A-E, there are loops on the interior of the shorts that you can hang them up with. In addition to the mesh pocket bags, there are also small drain holes on the lower cargo pockets that are far less effective at emptying liquid compared to the interior pockets, but still help make the shorts more suitable for swimming. Lastly, the (much lighter) fabric has a ripstop weave. The necessity of this is debatable, but a slight surprise as it doesn't show in photos.

The negatives first: The excess length on the integrated belt is annoying in water. The retainer loop does not help much and while you can cram it into a pocket, it won't stay there for long. Maybe a minor nuisance that will affect some more than others, but this is my biggest complaint. Secondly, the pocket array. It's just overkill. I did find some use for it by being able to swim in the ocean with keys to a car (with no worry about loss) but no pair of swim trunks need all this storage. And when you're not swimming, storing any item larger or heavier than maybe wireless earbuds can be pretty uncomfortable for walking around or sitting.

The positives: The fabric used on the "K" variant is much lighter than it is on SP29-M which makes for a much better pair of swim trunks but more importantly a better pair of shorts as well. Whether or not you like the metallic look or not will be up to you, but I'm indifferent and it's not too shiny in person. The shorter length is also much more summer appropriate and in my opinion, comfortable. Of course, they also look cool.

So if you're searching for something to swim in, you can probably look elsewhere. But if you want a pair of summer shorts that can be used for swimming in a pinch, these are great. Especially when you can get them on sale from HBX for "only" $330 USD. Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase and wish I had just skipped SP29s in SS22 and waited for these

Thanks I picked up a pair from Union LA for $368USD "discounted" (still exorbitant) and that is currently in delivery. I looked up HBX and I am not aware of any sale on that platform still seems to be RRP. The sheeny thin looking fabric is what really appeals to me about these over the standard SP29-M. Looks much more summer ready also with the reduced length for the hottest days of the year. I feel like I can just take the cuffs off my P30A-DS on the less hot summer months.

Spent a week in Sardinia with SP29K-M. Hot and humid. Also worn them elsewhere but figured scorching Mediterranean weather was the real test.

They're... OK. Certainly as well ventilated as cargo shorts are likely to ever be, and despite being black I never felt they were warm or otherwise problematic. The length is certainly not too short; I'd feel weird wearing anything below my kneecaps in this kind of weather. But put anything heavy in the pocket and it peeks out through the leg opening which is... not a great look. The flimsy pocket material has held up well despite looking super fragile. Sharp keys etc have not messed anything up for me yet.

The belt fly works, but offers no real advantage over a regular fly. The little loop to put the strap through is a bit stupid since it's hard to tighten through that loop (I feel like I'll tear it off?), so I end up taking the strap out, tightening, and then often leaving the strap hanging more in the front. Threading it back through the loop feels like letting a mediocre design dictate my behavior.

The material is very easy to brush or wash off if you spill food or whatever, and remarkably they didn't pick up any smell over a full week of intense groin sweat. But not sure how it'd feel in longer pants, definitely feels like something primarily for shorts.

Are they worth the cost? Unless you desperately need this exact pocket configuration, I think not. I don't really regret buying them but could live without them. Probably using my veilance stuff more for the rest of the summer, but keeping these in rotation.

One thing I’m really interested in these shorts for is whether the FC3 can dock into the little loop for the belt fly. Can you confirm this works okay? Also how are they as swimming trunks given the mesh pockets

If you think you ned to wash Dryskin every time you wear it, you probably don't own any. I own the original LA6-DS from SS16 (I'm actually wearing it as I type this), and I've probably washed it a couple of times a year at most and it's still in near perfect condition (just a little pilling on the back) after regular wear over the last 7 years. It works perfectly for both informal and formal occasions and is one of those pieces that always gets a few comments. The way it's going, I'm expecting it to hold up for at least another 5 years of wear, hopefully a lot more.

I own the P10-DS and P30A-DSKR-BKS which I only hand wash if ever. The issue is that a button down is close to the pits which sees sweat throughout the day so I think I would feel weird owning that and not washing it

  6. After seeing the LA6B-DS sell out again on the mother site it’s got me curious. Does this garment in a technical fabric hold up to hundreds of washes like I expect all my other button down long sleeve shirts to? Also I don’t understand the appeal of a utilitarian workwear item like a shirt being only owned in one or maybe two units. For those who own this piece would you be willing to get to a full set of 5 to cover a work week if it was available to purchase at retail?

Gotcha but I already got both colors of the FC3-GT last year lol

That’s awesome, could you do a comparison post about whether GT is worth the premium over WS? I’m weighing up between whether to get WS or maybe wait for a sale on GT but that seems more and more unlikely

I ordered J105 with both colors of FC3-WS from the mother site but only received the J105 without the two hats just now. Have no idea what the ACR is doing......Having such a crappy service at these prices doesn't make any sense.be3620377fd17180a639bea4ee78cfe.thumb.jpg.72ab37f970d0248c1f533289842de818.jpg

Why not get the same hat in multiple textiles rather than the same hat in multiple colours? One of the cooler parts about Acronym to me is the product codes allow you to experiment with what fabrics work in what conditions

  9. Selfishly I was really hoping the J29 restock would have been the J29U-PX. The J29-WS is a sick jacket that was sold out and slept on but it’s like the J29U-PX is so rare that even on this forum it’s hardly mentioned as being owned by anyone. All I can see is a couple of people in Asia managed to get a hold of one in the entire world.

J29U-PX doesn't have Alpha Direct insulating fibres lining the main Pertex Quantum fabric. They're the same otherwise, minus the addition of two exterior pockets to the U version

Do you know why it’s basically impossible to find out more about this jacket? For a long time I thought it was either fake or a typo except that I saw a glimpse of a spec sheet in some video. Apparently it was released a year or so ago but I can’t see much trace of it online

  11. How small of a run did the J29-PX have? I’m looking for one size M to buy but like all the other J29s they come up rarely. Also I’m wondering if there is also a separate J29U-PX or is it the same as the J29-PX?

I bought the coevo p30s.  The pants seem to keep falling and I have to constantly adjust the belt.  I have a similar belting system in the p31 (which I never have issues with).  I was wondering if anyone else was having issues.  Is it just that the drape of the pant and the weight will constantly just drag them?  Or do I have a defective pair? Any help would be appreciated.

Hope you don't mind the off topic question but did you have trouble ordering from Coevo? It is going to be a few weeks time before I am able to buy my own pair of acronym p30a but I thought people had trouble being able to buy from the Korea storefront internationally. I thought worst case scenario I would have to look for a freight forwarder like when I ordered the p10-ds from buyee
