WTB: P46-DS, Medium

Sorry if this topic has been discussed to death by now, but I couldn’t find a similar discourse with my searching. What would make you choose a more expensive trouser like P38-DS, over something more substantially “cheaper” as P44? Is it purely hype / quantities that are affecting the price here?
