Thanks Lance. They're amazing denim. But I wish I'd bought a size down actually. I have to hot dry them to shrink back to a great fit. Then the denim stretches out and they start to look a little baggy, especially around the hips.

That’s interesting. I was considering the FW 51’s for my next pair. Did you go with your normal waist size? I thought they seemed to f pretty TTS.

  2. Damn, those are looking good. I really like the frequently washed look. Reminiscent of a pair of vintage levis.

side note, does anyone know why/when tcb changed their patches from the one above to the newer one on my pair of 50’s? Was it a copyright issue with levis?

Same denim - different dying and thread types.

Frankly if anyone can tell the difference between any of the 601 (excluding war denim) without closely inspecting them side by side is doing amazingly well

Thanks for the knowledge duke. I’ve been eyeing freewheelers for a while and don’t really have any tapered jeans in the case closet now, might grab the 51’s.

  4. Hi all, have a question regarding the differences between the 1947’s and the 1951’s.

I originally thought the difference was in fit only but I’ve recently heard the denim is slightly different between the two despite both being “601xx”. I’ve also seen the 47’s being typically priced a bit higher. Anyone know what the specific differences in the denim or details are, if any? Thanks.

Black 50s are smaller in the waist than indigo. I'm a 33 in the indigo, 34 in the black.

    IMO if you're a 34 in Iron Heart, you'll be a 34 or 33 in TCB 50s. Definitely not a 36, no way.

Yeah I spoke back and forth with Ryo. I used to wear a size 36 in the 50’s but that was 30 lbs heavier ago. He says the denim is capable of stretching 2-3 sizes in the waist easily. So I’ll go with the 34’s. Thanks

  6. Do most people tend to take their normal size or size up in the 50’s? I’m between a 34 and a 36. I had a pair of the 50’s in size 36 a couple years ago but I’ve lost like 30 lbs since then. For reference I’m a 34 in roys and iron hearts.

I know tcb website says to size up, but I’m wondering if I can just go with a 34.

I’ve posted a slew of photos from longer hikes elsewhere around the state & country, but a big part of why I live where I do is how much access there is to nature just outside town

Went for a nice walk this morning before the fog burned off, just around an ~8 minute drive / ~30 minute walk up the hill from my house in one of the regional parks

@JohnnyUtah247 I have the 800's and typically wear a 34 in most brands. I had to size up to a 36 for the 800xx, however in older models I was able to fit into a 34. If you're getting the pair from either SxS or Self Edge, i'd recommend sizing up. It does seem like the main difference is the inseam for the Self Edge models, hopefully this helps.

Helps a lot mate. According to S and S measurements 36 looks spot on while self edge measurements come up so small, which I found a bit bizarre. Perhaps I can shoot an email over to either for confirmation on that.

another question , do the large sizes have 5 button flies? Thanks

  9. Hey peeps. I’m looking for a pair of 800xx’s for my next project and looking for some guidance. Located in the US so would purchase from either Self Edge or Standard and Strange. I was wondering why there was such a price difference. (50$ more at self edge) As far as I can tell, the Self Edge pair just has a longer Inseam but are exactly the same besides that. Is there something I’m missing here?

The sizing is also kind of all over the place. I’m typically a 34 in Roys and iron hearts, and a 36 in ooe’s and flatheads. According to some measurements I find the 36 in 800xx would be fine, but if I go by Self Edge’s measurements I would need possibly a 38, or a 40, which seems crazy. Anyone have any size comparisons to other brands?

     Cheers.

The Iron Heart BSPTIII22oz Overdyed Jacket & New Runs of Every Other Imaginable Thing

The Iron Heart BSPTIII22oz overdyed jacket is here!  This is a limited edition overdyed denim jacket made out of a base 22oz Japanese denim with an indigo warp and dark beige weft.  These jackets have been overdyed black with a fugitive pigment dye which is an unstable and un-permanent dye that fades to later show the indigo denim underneath.  The jacket itself is based off a traditional Type III denim jacket with added hand pockets a slight bit of length added to the body so it can easily worn with untucked shirts.

Along with these jackets we've received new production runs of left hand twill denim jackets and the 633 straight tapered, 888 high rise slim, and 777 slim tapered jeans in various denim weights in both indigo and overdyed versions.

You can find all these items now at all stores and online.

Looks awesome kiya. I know the OD process tends to shrink the fabric as much as possible and the measurements show that. I’m normally an XL in all iron heart flannels. Waivering between an XXL and XXXL for this, what do you think?

Iron Shop Provisions currently has the 3005 in stock. AFAIK they're the only shop in the US that has them in stock. I've been considering ordering a pair, but I'm unsure of sizing.

Thanks for the heads up man I’ll check it out. If you need any sizing tips I’d be more than happy to help. Flat heads pioneer denim shrinks a lot and continues to shrink for a few washes after new. I’m a 34 in ironhearts or roys and a 36 in flatheads.

Long overdue update on my 3005s. Worn 317 days, I think washed about nine times or so? These should hit 365 days in the next few months.

I feel like these have been slow to evolve due to the (relatively) loose fit on me, but I think with another 6-8 months of wear time they'll look great.

Those are beautiful man. I’d really like a pair of 3005’s. Hoping they re stock soon at SE. I still wear my 3009’s but would prefer a looser fit.
