Bought a pair of one wash 55’s off eBay for $90 that were practically new. They’re made in turkey and have already ripped in multiple places and tbh I reach for my new pair of STF’s that I bought at Macy’s a month ago.

The V2 1966 looked absolutely identical to the older Cone models. Impossible to say that these were not made of the same denim in the same factory and sewn by the same person on the same day.

Origin of clothing is also a consideration for me when I buy it but can't say I think to much about it in the long run.

  2. @Broark I have the Woodstock in espresso with leather soles. Superb shoes. Also have the Burford in espresso and two pairs of Stows which I don't wear a lot anymore. Maybe again next winter. I like them a lot for their rounded front. Leather quality is A+.

I prefer darker browns but among those two definitely the marron ones.

I would think it's pretty much impossible to see differences in the fabric raw, we'd need to see how it ages to really understand it.

I agree, but I wont be the one to let this age.

There are obvious differences between the cone denims when raw. I also have a 1976 in storage. This denim looks the same as cone but feels just a little bit softer. Maybe due to different amaounts of starch.

  4. So Levis Germany did send the 1966 V2 ("Rigid") to me anyway. I still have 2 Cone 1966 made in the U.S. of A. with tags attached in storage and compared the new V2 to them.

    - Denim looks indistinguishable. Maybe a bit softer and less starch on the new one. Not sure if it is shrink 2 fit.
    - Quality of craftsmaship is the same.
    - V2 is made in Bulgaria.

It is a quality piece but I'll send it back. I originally thought I had ordered one of the last Cone 1966.

Waiting for experiences with the new denim.

  5. I'd like to know that as well. I'd buy another 76 or 66 in 36/34 but they are sold out for weeks. I still have one pair of each model with all tags attached in their LVC bags but want to keep them in this state as it's the last American denim.

Some evolution pics of my 76s shot on iphone.

The denim seems slow to fade. This is around five months worth of wear and two washes, one soak.

I find them to fade medium fast. My oldest 1976 is from last November and gets worn about every second day (office job) for the entire day. In the current summer heat I wash them after 8 or 9 wears. They have developed a nice bright blue base color with contrast fades on higher friction points like the front pockets, some belt loops, crutch and the fly. The hems are beginning to become slightly threadbare in the back. I'll wear them cuffed when that effect becomes stronger in two months or so. These trousers seem to be good for almost another year.

  7. Yes, I meant Jeans like the Lee 101 S and Z and Edwin Nashville, ED-55 etc. which you can buy here in Europe. DA only produces these Jeans. I don't think they own the brand or licensed it. For the true japanophile connoisseurs Edwin Europe also sells some models made in nameless Japanese factories. I thought that was the only connection the Edwin brand has to Japan nowadays.

Have a look at these Lee 101Bs, made by Edwin, they’re a full cut. I had the Lee Cowboy 1936 in a 30w which started at about 33” and shrunk to 32”. I’d imagine these may be similarly oversized.

Lee 101 are not made by Edwin (Europe). They are made by Denim Authority which also makes Edwin and some Nudies. If you compare 101 and Edwin side by side, it's obvious they are from the same manufacturer. Good quality Jeans.

  9. ^ Same situation in their German shop. I would go by the description and not by the pictures. The 1969 has the pictures of the 1976 and all sizes but even the US shop has only some sizes of the 1976 left.

Recently I read about EU tariffs on "typical" US products (Levi's, Harley Davidson etc.) as a reprisal for possible US tariffs on steel. Might be another reason to get a pair now.

  10. Many models at the Levi's online store are no longer available or only in certain sizes. Maybe these are their last pairs in White Oak Cone denim.

I just ordered a 1966 with a voucher I received for signing up to their newsletter. The voucher said it would give 10% off but actually reduce the price by 20 %! German Levi's store, half an hour ago.

Some have requested fit pictures of me in my '76s, so here they are. Sorry for the bad lighting, but hopefully you get the general idea. I am approximately 170cm/72kg, and am wearing a size 31/34. My first time wearing these since like September of 2017. (Yes, I'm wearing Crocs haha)

Very good fit on that jeans. On me they look much wider due to my fat waist. I'm 184, also wear a 34 inseam and mine has more break. Either you have superlong legs or the inseam just kept on shrinking. After a very hot and long soak and a cold wash my inseam is now at 79 cm.

Can you measure the inseam, please?

You guys have definitely sold me on the 1976's!

I'm looking for a slimmer fit though - does anyone know if this will go well if I size down one?

The waist ist exactly TTS but the legs are cut somewhat relaxed. If you want a slim fit, that's not the right model IMHO. After years in slimmer fitting jeans I enjoy this cut a lot. Already have two and will get another one as soon as I find a voucher code.

  13. No, I wasn't complaining at all. The one I already had is quite a loose fit so a tad trimmer leg would not have bothered me. But I probably didn't measure hem and thigh right. After a very long, very hot soak it now has exactly the same measurements as the first one after soaking. If I can find another voucher code while Levi's still has them on offer with the White Oak denim, I may get a third one.

Do you know who makes the trousers? Levi's doesn't own factories any more as far as I know.

  14. Yes, I got the 1976 501 in 36x34.

I'm a bit above 6 feet. Probably it just takes some time getting used to such a rise. They do fit well around the belly ("waist") but I need to lose some weight. Belt at this height is also a new experience. I'm warming up to this cut and will wear them tonight. Not sure if I'm ready to wear them to work, though.

I wonder how this jeans fades at other people who spend the most of the day on a chair. If it fades as fast as it got reported here, do you get one large fade on the butt and everything else remains near raw?
