Hmm... did the the details change. When looking at these today on OD and 2nd, I only see kakishibu weft.

It seems the original report on the release was worded wrong and the gx-t was always going to be kakishibu. Unfortunate, as I for one would have liked 710 cut in indigo-indigo. :/

I went size 33 although I'm 31/32 in almost every other brand. It is slim tapered but definitely not carrot fit. I got half inch or so shrink in the inseam when washed.

    Fit pics in WAYWT thread.

    Excellent, thanks!

Did you order through Okayamadenim? Did you ask them to confirm the measurements / did you find the charted measurements to ring true?

Got some new PBJ chinos, the 1148 model not the new 12oz selvedge chino as I didn't want a 5 pocket design but a true chino cut. The fabric is lovely. Loads of texture and vertical falling. The seams developed a great deal of puckering in the first wash.

Great pair of summer pants, will get loads of wear.

How did you size for these, anything particular to pay attention to? Is the cut very carrot-y, the measurements suggest it could be but in what few fit-pics I have seen it doesn’t really look like that.

    Fit pics? B)

Corlection has PBJ chinos on sale; the model is not 1148 and also not the latest 5-pocket one. It looks like I could be a 31 in those, yet 33 in 1148... Other than that the fit should be very similar, judging by the measurements.

...GX-T was part of the Elements-Series.

probably the same denim and dying technique.

That seems likely, thanks. Do you remember what weight were the Element-denims? My Google-fu comes up short trying to dig up related facts.

  5. The 32oz Weird Guy is back in stock but I'd like to propose a moment of silence for these measurements:

I'd love to hear from anyone who have copped a pair... Or thinking about it... I sure was looking forward to this but "painted on -fit" is not really how I roll.

    Hi everyone,

I am brand new to this forum and I am a denim fanatic I just wanted to post my favorite denim jacket. It's a pocket less orange tab that's made in Canada. It was in unbelieveable condition when I got it, still is. I pair it with doublewood narrows.

    Thanks all!

Looks like a boss combo, thanks for posting!

Anyone have the S710MOG from a couple of years ago? I used to have the S0500MOG, and they were my favorite pair, but are now too big due to some weight loss. Considering the 710's, but am concerned they'll be lighter in color than I desire. Would love to see pictures, and/or hear from anyone who owns this pair.

+1 to this! Also, how did they measure, anything special to consider compared to other models in this cut?

Has anyone seen or purchased the S511SJC AI home grown jeans from Samurai? I see that Okayama Denim has them in stock. Any ideas who may else stock them? May be my first Samurai purchase!

    @SparhawkJC did.

Rakuten has fair few sellers stocking these... Having said that, Okayamadenim is a good choice as you might want to engage them in English, to confirm the measurements before shipping.

Edit: Also, shipping from Okayamadenim is free, you’d be paying extra for that on Rakuten... Not that it’d be a huge additional expense considering these are 800€+/pair anyway.

Is it just me, or is it nearly impossible to find a boot that you entirely like?

The vintage boot that Ive always worn has lived a hard life and is in desperate need of retirement.

The only boot that Ive seen in any of my recent memories or hunting that strongly appeals to me is one by Sanders Japan, but I think it was only available at ClutchCafe and is sold out of my size.

    Any suggestions?

How about the S&S x Wesco Axe Breaker in horsehide:

Apparently, the "Denimio x Samurai Russia Collaboration" is ready, available sometime soonish? S710 cut and Yamato denim, which sounds nice but too light for my preferences.

Is it possible if you guys give me an input on what is the main benefits of this new relax tapered cut? Is it to allow a bigger build westerner to have a comfortable topblock while able to rock a sneakers game?

    Thanks

    H

    Salam takzim masbro ZoaldeycK,

I think you nailed it otherwise but the same potential benefits apply for other ethnicities as well... Not skipping the leg-days easily leads to a situation where you find yourself ”sizing for the thighs”, which for many cuts means having to go up several tag sizes. ”Relax tapered” cuts let one bypass the hassle of aftermarket alterations that have always been a popular answer to this particular question.

It’s also worth noticing that the extreme carrot is not the only possible variation of the theme; Iron Heart’s 888 cut is a fine example of a more ”adult tapered” cut, with a nice and clean yet subdued silhouette.

you would have to go a couple of pages back in this thread to see if anybody actually bought the S5000KA24OZ.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem that anyone did.

The old fit-guide suggests ”down 2 sizes” on S5000 for a slim fit, but I guess these bad boys in tag size 30 are not entirely likely to sport 12” thighs post-shrink? Further, I could imagine that sizing down too much on light coloured pants might not lead to the most flattering of looks.

Yet I do remain intrigued by this. I love persimmons and Samurai’s 24oz. :/

Any reason to go for those over the double-black Sugar Cane Type III jeans? Need the extra thigh room? (If you need the extra thigh room, why not go for the Momotaro 0605-B or some Left Field Black Marias?)

Mainly fiscal considerations but I realize stocking up on things "cos they were cheap" is a surefire way to fill your cabinets with crapola.

Left Fields are sadly not readily available on this side of the big water, unlike, say, Rogue Territory.

The abovementioned price for the E7 was at Cultizm as they had -20% on all the pants yesterday, so the offer is gone now and I don't regret not baiting.

  14. Actually I got it wrong the first time around, apparently it's "heavy duty sewing machines" they are buying for this project.

I think that the heavy weight stuff some brands are releasing is rediculous.

It's pretty much just N&F taking the silly-route to Bonkersville. The commonly available 20-25oz. fabrics from Samurai, Iron Heart et al. are very wearable and for some, like me, greatly preferable when pitted against their lesser brethren.

Vote for the next Denimio x Samurai collab.  Survey closes November 18.

And now the voting is open for the "European" model:

Sound like 20oz zipper versions of the 3002 and 3009 cuts respectively so if you can find the descriptions/measurements of those, that should give you an idea of the heavier versions.

Derp, don’t know why I assumed they are the same cut. For my defense, though, these 2 cuts do appear very similar, with mid-rise, room in the thighs, some taper (one more than the other).

    Thanks!
