Just finished the DWC '17-19 and I'm interested in another competition. Personally I would be looking to spend around or under $200, so I'm not sure if I can necessarily participate ...
Love the idea of same company, same fabric, different cuts.

Buckle up for a short(-ish) representation of a long journey
How many photos is max per post? We'll find out...With my Pointer Brand Chore Coat that made the same 2-year journey:
First gettin' dirty in Montana:
Causin' trouble somewhere in Kentucky:
Crackin' into some brews in North Carolina
Levitating somewhere in Alabama
Lookin' pretty in Arkansas
Soarin' in Chattanooga, Tennessee!!
Just a little lost, somewhere in Nashville
Over a creek in Virginia (first time I saw some real evo!)
En route from one place to another ... not sure where
A mermaid I fell in love with in Florida
Kayakin' with alligators and manatees in Blue Springs State Park, Florida
Almost home at a truck stop in Montana
Finally home, among my mountains
Bein' a goof around my hometown
Jeans lookin' JUICY after about a year and some change:
A costume I wore in one of my last shows of college
Start of the next tour! This one all over Montana
Flyin' in Sidney, MT
After exploring Makoshika State Park in eastern MT
Hugging one of the 4,800+ students who I performed for over three months:
If you made it this far, thanks for reading!
This has been an incredible, formative, challenging and rewarding two years. I'm so grateful for my jeans, which have saved me from nasty bike wrecks, a piping-hot americano spill, and all kinds of frigid weather up here. Cheers friends

Hello friends! Two years, wow. Much has happened. So so so much has happened.
Username: hudsonjames
Country: The US of A
Jeans: Sage 5th Chieftains, 18oz, unsanforized, Indonesian madeThese pants have been on quite a ride:
- Two professional theatre tours - one national, one across Montana
- The rehearsal process of seven separate shows
- Actually worn on-stage as part of a costume for two shows
- The birth of my best friend's child
- The completion of my college educationAll along the way I've been snapping pics, and there are so f*cking many that I love.
BUT, not everybody has time for that (even though it's part of it!), so first, here's just the beginning, and the end:Before the Fades
Pocket Candy & Patch
Initial fit (pre-soak, b/c unsanforized)
After the Fades:
I (foolishly) decided to take on all the repairs myself, here's the crotch after six (!) separate sashiko repairs:
This is the current state of the right knee, with a repaired blow-out (after a bicycle wreck) and a new tear right above it (of course)
Now for the juicy detail shots, including coin and back pockets, and Sage's lovely custom hardware:
(See both the hidden and stealth arcuates? One is in dark blue, another is between the pocket denim and the pocket bag, hence that fade)
Now, if you know anything about me, it's that I love action shots.
These jeans are no exception. Check my post (below) for all that business.

Final few days. Can't believe it's been another 2 years.
This is my first ever fading contest and it really is incredible how it puts time into perspective. I'm stoked to get the final submissions going!
Do y'all have any guidelines for a newbie on what submission should consist of? I'm going to do plenty of detail shots on the jeans themselves, but this pair has also been a lot of interesting places over the last few years (and gathered a lot of stories). Would a follow-up album be appropriate for those interested?
Much love.

Thought I'd take advantage of first snowfall here in Montana, so here are some better shots of my 19 oz Sage Chieftains (5th anniv). Sitting at ~8 washes, all repairs done by me (clearly).
This last shot shows you really how dirty these are at the moment. I've been wearing them as my work jeans on a regional theatre tour, which actually ends just about the same time as this contest! I'm excited to share all the stories that these jeans have collected.

PBJ Sashiko Type3

PBJ SLB-019
Veja V-12This is like the perfect fit in my opinion. I always hope to find pairs that fit me as well as these fit you.
I'm definitely eyeing PBJ for my next addition to the collection...

Hey y'all - just read that we have to keep doing regular updates, I hope I've been posting enough. I have a lot of photos of these jeans, but I was waiting until the end of the contest to share 'em. Here's a few recent ones:
I will of course take detail pics of the jeans ah the end, but these should give you an idea for now! Sage 5th Chieftains 18oz.
Cheers, y'all's jeans are looking fantastic.

Kinda wished the comp was just for one year
Understandable sentiment -- those TCBs are lookin' damn fine right now.
I'm personally quite grateful for another summer and autumn before this thing wraps up! Still got plenty of fading to do...

photo thread for photos only and no discussion
Is there some reason we're not consolidating those posts into one thread? I would be more inclined to participate if I didn't have to figure out where my photo/thoughts go.

I’ll be curious to see that jacket when worn in awhile...
I'm stoked that I got it around the same time as my contest jeans, so I can compare the Sage denim and the Cone denim evo. I'm taking both on a natural tour this spring (naturally) and that's really going to put some wear on them.

Easy to see why you switched, this fit is really nice

Really digging the more relaxed fit of this compared to my UB121s, but the waist is still a little too big. Considering taking in the waist an inch, but that would be quite the project. Overall I'm still pleased with these as they begin to settle more

I really like this colors in this fit. Very vivid, but all coordinated as well. The jacket and the shoes are complimenting each other so nicely.

because it can change the way the bottom pieces are perceived - here it changes the proportions and creates a very specific look.
This right here. @MasonAlexander has proportions similar to my own - most of our height is in our legs, but it's not wildly disproportionate. Tucking in the sweatshirt highlights the jeans in such a nice way, since they sit closer to his natural waist anyway.
So my vote is for tuck!

I'm finally getting started!
19 oz Sage Chieftain 5th Anniversary Edition
One hot soak, going for another this evening. Hoping to get a bit more shrink in the waist, but it's decent.

Sad to see Cone go, hopefully smaller and more versatile operations will take over the mantle
This news made me think a lot about what kind of modern denim industry would be possible in the U.S.? Could small-batch denim makers who purchased some of these old looms actually make a living selling to U.S. jeans companies?
