despite best intentions anything posted around september 29-30th might not have made it over to the new supertalk 8. does that correspond to the time period you are missing posts and dms?

there was an announcement made on 29th to let everyone know to post at your own risk. the explanation as i understand it being there is a time lag between copying the databases over to a sandbox site at a point in time and then switching over to the production servers at another point in time so anything caught in the middle is lost. usually we would have just turned off the site for few hours for the switchover... but in this case the databases on supertalk were so huge that they took 3 days to transfer in the background and we kept the site online. alternatively we probably could have just closed the site for 3 days. sorry about that 😵 🤷‍♂️

  2. Yeah, I never said anything about a pink J1A lol...... but now am actually curious. You're right, I don't know the quantity they've made which is verbatim what I said in my original statement.

  3. No assumptions here, just pointing out that the two freshest jacket designs offered from ACR are not flying off the shelves in a matter of seconds/minutes like they would've in 17'. You're right, you don't survive 20 years on word of mouth, but if you noticed this is actually the first time Acronym is acting as a typical "Fashion Brand" from a marketing perspective. Kitty wore the J115 to the Rick show and E made sure to capture her wearing it for the social media tease, next was the itemized newsletter followed by ACR uploading the entire Drop A photo catalog onto the IG page, AND now for the first time ever we are forced a page upon accessing the mothersite offering the "exclusive" J115/J117 in your face so you couldn't possibly miss them.

This is why I phrased my wording as "wandered too far from the path they were once following to success". Guaranteed if those jackets were instead J28E/J1AS in mothersite exclusive colorways.......they would be soldout.

  4. Either they made 100x J115/J117, or they’re realizing right this minute that they have indeed wandered too far from the path they were once following to success.

J77-am is really nice piece. Recently bought it for myself too.

I guess it’s ironic one of my favorite ACR jackets has zero subsystems? lol.

Feels like Max Mara for Acronym. I can’t begin to count how many compliments i’ve received in the small amount of time i’ve owned it so far.

gonna be honest, i have not used the backpack coverage once and rarely switch the jacket sling. but the j87 has quickly become my go-to for doing literally anything in the rain (from long rides on the bike to quick runs to the corner shop) and is propably my favorite new jacket design of the past few years. i thought it'd be a lot more popular but i guess mothersite pictures make it look a little odd, especially with the hunchback activated.

I'll take odd over boring any day lol.

  7. Let's dive into new designs.

With numerous reiterations of past highly-desired designs, it often feels like truly fresh designs can sometimes get lost in the mix. Has anyone noticed any genuinely innovative designs that stand out, and if so, what makes them stand out?

I'm on the verge of purchasing the J87-WS, and several aspects are catching my attention. Firstly, the fabric choice - WS is a personal favorite due to its excellent functionality, being packable, lightweight, waterproof, and providing year-round comfort. The ability to switch the Jacket Sling from the back to the front is intriguing and something I'd like to test. The addition of back pleated detailing for backpack coverage, while I don't use backpacks frequently, is certainly interesting. The Storm Hood detailing, especially with the collar closed, not only looks stylish but also seems practical for heavy rain situations. Lastly, the chest pockets appear to serve their purpose exceptionally well.

Overall, J86 combines 3 different times in 3 dimensions: Now (fabric), 50s American workwear(silhouette), and Medieval(arm pattern).

    Triangle of Happiness

PS. English is not my first language. I'm making a video for this but in Chinese. If you speak Chinese you might already watch my previous videos.

If you don't, remember these are the most interesting parts so you won't miss a lot.

Thank you for delving into the details of this jacket. Acronym delivering a workwear jacket was something I had been eagerly anticipating for a long time, and right from its initial release, I could sense that it was more than just impressive in terms of patternmaking.

My primary question now pertains to the user experience. I've noticed that this jacket sold out almost immediately, despite its high price, indicating a significant demand from ACR fans for GTB I presume (Based on P38 in GTB selling out immediately vs. the GT iteration now sitting). However, since the release of the J86, I've noticed a substantial number of them being resold, and when I say 'many,' I mean 'NG-4 many.' This leads me to believe that despite the jacket's initial appeal, it may fall short of expectations when actually worn.

  9. I second J61-WS, perfect all year round for So-Cal.

J54-LP would be my grail, bummed it's never come across my table even as an opportunity to grab. The hood structure and pocket layout are incredible.

You're right, WS lined with AD

Ah, there we go, that makes much more sense. And, wow, they're using Polartec again?! The P38 was such a disappointment...Personally, I know two people who've owned P38 and had issues with the Alpha Direct. Their experiences ranged from the material tearing outright to excessive pilling and even the material falling apart on its own. Not to mention the price....

Yes, it's an innovative way to implement the Acronym feature on Nike, from another point of view they don't want to let you spend 400 retail but get the same feature with acr,  so they made this sling which is implementing the acr feature but poorly functional lol. J115 is not the only item that they cue the design from the Nike collab, I think they do the same thing on P53-DS also (FW2324).

This is essentially the exact same design as the last Nike x Acronym Woven pants..... I actually have no words other than I'm shocked. Also, this looks nothing like DS to me..... more like WS?

  12. J115-GT is just throwing me off at this point, i’m shocked at this new jacket sling design choice in all honesty. The best part about the jacket sling is usually being able to decide if you want to wear it on the outside or inside of the jacket, or just not at all. Also i’ve always very much enjoyed the visual aesthetic of the jacket sling when positioned on the outside….this just seems unnecessary to me. Why change something that already works so well???

I was exited for a new vehicular escape zip when I saw this. Maybe in the future?

J23 was cool in theory but the actual functionality of the escape zip down the back felt useless unless showing someone to impress them about the feature.

I'm particularly intrigued by that insulator; it appears to be the J77A-AM? it's giving me vibes reminiscent of the J77-AM. I'm really enjoying the practicality of the snorkel zip hood feature, which happens to be one of my personal favorites on the J61-WS. Also, curious as to what that WR zipper is crossing over the left shoulder but I'm assuming its the new Jacket Sling design as seen on the J115. Only downside to this design imo is that you can't switch it around to the right side to accommodate left-handed users.

Interestingly, I just received the J77-AM from Bodega for only $392, including shipping - big shoutout to Bodega for the low price. The AM fabric does feel somewhat itchier than I initially anticipated when I first took it out of the bag, but I'm hoping it will soften up over time. As for the shoulder pockets, they seem a bit redundant, especially with their zipper-less design. I wouldn't trust them with my Airpods like they were advertised in the product photos. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the unique flair they add to the shoulder design, almost evoking a medieval aesthetic. Another intriguing feature is the placement of the zipper tabs on the right side, which caught me by surprise, but I don't foresee any difficulty getting used to it. Also really enjoy how the hood is skin-tight almost like a balaclava when zipped all the way up. Overall, I'm satisfied with the design and for the price I plan to actually wear it and put it to good use vs. babying it.

what the fuck is this monstrosity lmao?

I never thought to look that closely at this video, good eye @Davidwyh1998 Not sure how i feel about the zipper/jacket sling concept and cringy reflective sleeve tho. I remember someone sharing fw23 leaks w/ me before and i must say. J115 is more attractive here in motion on Kitty than the product photos.

Agreed, the 43gt is heavily underrated. I love the aggressive stacking when zipped up.

I understand with GT not being an ideal fabric choice for pants. Ended up pulling the trigger on them telling myself they would be my go-to pants for snowboarding and also getting them for 60% off was the tipping point for me (Personally, now my favorite part of MiC and larger production quantities). But that aside, I must admit they have grown on me immensely. Right, the aggressive stacking when zipped up especially from the back is something I've never experienced from ACR let alone any other brand. I feel like zipped up is perfect for certain shoes with slimmer silhouettes, while unzipped works perfectly for bulkier shoes with how it drapes over the shoe reminding me of Balenciaga cargo pants. Pocket layout is phenomenal, especially with the 3D design of the hand pockets allowing for an insane carrying capacity + the interior phone pocket. The detached entry front pocket makes for a great place to store my card holder and mezzanine for anything I might need to keep handy. The trough openings are perfect for accessing whatever I might be wearing underneath them during my snowboarding trips, but equally convenient for ventilation when wearing them in warmer climates. While the two wr zippers running parallel with each other on both sides is just a very different and unique look I've grown quite fond of. Nothing really to dislike besides the poorly thought-out waistband. Would prefer something like a fidlock buckle instead imo.

    idk looks different to me

I 100% agree with you that these look like p43-ds. Very easy to tell imo based on the stack not only from the front but especially from the back. I own the p43-gt and they look absolutely nothing like this in person. Maybe they are E but…… the first thing i thought after getting my pair was “Damn I really hope they make these in DS eventually”, so let’s hope and see.

Also on a side note p43-gt have been my favorite pants from acr since ss19.

Also, if you really are Lamborghini's interior designer, then the hexagons everywhere are played out, hiding the start button underneath a flip-top switch like it's a fighter plane is the automotive equivalent of wearing an Ed Hardy t-shirt, the UI on your infotainment system is utterly hideous, and those toggle switches were shit when Mini started doing them, they're still shit when you do them.

Signed, a man who gets paid to drive and write about Lamborghinis.

I've only been with Lamborghini for close to a year now, and I am very soon leaving for a competitor. I will agree with everything you just said, it's actually why I was brought in. To help speculate where they were failing. Also, big things in 2022 from Lamborghini with ByBorre for all you shit talkers.

So no, I wasn't claiming I work for Lamborghini with a Lamborghini assplug lodged deep in my anal crevice the same way all you ACR diehards do I'm sure. (Only available on Subnet)

FlipFlop, I'm sure you'll gain more insight for Lamborghini interior once your dad dies and his full bank account is at your exposure. I'm assuming you still have a monthly credit limit until you're 50 years old?

@mariahscarry if you don't think the J1e adds any type of innovation, then I'm sorry to say you don't have the "eye for technical attention" you think you do.

I'm an interior designer at Lamborghini..

"The pattern-making and articulation is what really sets ACR apart, but these are technical details that are largely "invisible" to the naked eye, and even more so to the consumer that has no idea about garment construction to begin with."

"I guarantee most people don't even understand half the words he used (ThatSlapz), let alone why changes to them make a garment better, worse, or different. The devil is in the details for any hobby--garments are no different."

    I'll quote these two parts.

The pattern-making and articulation does NOT set acronym apart, there are actually many brands that execute exactly what ACR achieves. And almost all designs used by ACR are not original, they are inspired by past military/workwear garments which continue to inspire many other brands as well. So to say it "sets ACR apart" is naive. And also to say it's naked to the eye is obviously apparent, isn't that why we're all on this page in the first place? is because we share the same eye for technical attention that E does.

Something I didn't put in my first post, but you basically just highlighted it perfectly for me to touch on, is that the J1E has no new innovation(Hat excluded but...LOL). It's literally an update where E is attempting to just expand further on where the J1A design fails. And that being said, it's still the same pockets/zippers/systems maybe arranged in a more accessible and convenient way, but that somehow took almost 20 years to finally figure out? and oh also costs over $2,000...

My statement is this, I'll pay $600 for any recycled ACR piece any fucking day, new fabrics, new colors, new bags, the detail is unparalleled. E could literally start a membership service for $2,000 a year where i'm guaranteed a couple pieces and I would sign up immediately.  But with $1,000-$2,000 pricing, I want some new innovation, I really don't think that's too much to ask. I guess i'm just asking for more than the normal consumer.
