Any review on J66-GT?
I know you're asking about J66-GT, but my J66-GTV just arrived this morning. Too soon for an in-depth review, but I can say that it's gorgeous in-person. The edges are already slightly fraying right out of the box. As expected, the reverse seams + intense color = brilliant showcase for the detailed geometric patterning. I'm a "Smedium" and I ordered size S and I made the right decision. The pockets don't seem to have that ugly flare out like they do in some of the product pictures. There's just enough room for light layering, but it doesn't look boxy or oversized like it would have if went size M.
Things you can't tell from the lookbook on their website -
- The primary zip is actually an EscapeZip.
- The shade of volt matches the heel of the AVM-007
- Weight-wise it falls right in between GT Pro and WS
- As with the J1A-GTV, there are no internal jacketsling loops

Just for conversational purposes, what are peoples opinions on the raw / frayed edges of the J66?
Somehow this detail (in addition to how the seams are sewn) is what put me over the edge in buying it. I can't explain why either. I think I just really like the aesthetic.

@Voyager Can you take some pics before selling? Curious to see if they added artificial weathering & what not.
Will do later today, but I doubt they did any artificial weathering. It's 5 year old black Stotz and looks like it's 5 year old black Stotz.

I am listing them as 7/10 due to the patina on the Stotz, otherwise they are in great shape. Comes with a military style belt which was also part of the costume. I'm not trying to make any profit here. This is what I paid for the auction.

I think the description nails it completely. Light, fast, transitional. It's thin thin and optimal for small EDC items. Overall, very happy with it.
Sorry if that's too short but those are just first impressions. I'll try to post something more comprehensive after a few weeks of testing.
As far as tariffs go, I'm pretty sure they tacked 6110.30.3010 @ 32% when it should be closer to 6110.90.9023 @ 6% for the S21-DS. I've started the process and have until the 25th to get this reviewed for a refund, as per the UPS agent. I'll keep all my broke boi's posted!
I was able to use 6201.93.47 for the S21-DS and duties dropped from around $290 to around $70.

Try wearing P26! Same deal except more brutal zips.

A Review of the J56-S (RAF)
Just got this in a few days ago and I'd like to share my initial thoughts on it. I specify that this is a review of the RAF J56 because there's a few small details that are unique to that version, and I am of the opinion that the RAF J56-S is not only the final form of J56, but the best jacket that Acronym has released in the past two seasons.
I bought J56-GT when it was released. I liked it. Didn't love it. I liked the design, but I always thought that GT Pro was too stiff a fabric for a jacket like the J56. The J56 design-wise is simply a modern take on the M65. Even the numerical name is like taking the 65 and twisting it around. I may be reading too much into the numerical significance of Acronym's naming of the 56, but my point is that it's a reworked 60's Vietnam-era military garment and GT (at least the GT that Acronym uses) isn't the proper fabric for a jacket like that. Ventile, a classic military fabric that seems more appropriate.RAF tapes - The RAF J56 is the first jacket to employ RAF green forcelock and logo tapes. It's a minor touch, but a nice one since you can use these RAF tapes with all of your other jackets.
The chest pockets - This right here is the jacket’s identifying feature. They are conspicuous and give this jacket as a distinct “Acronym jacket” look. Voluminous, symmetrical and ergonomic top waterproof zip-access pockets. Even though they're detached from the jacket, they're easy to unzip and zip with one hand due to the way they are sewn to the jacket. These are the same style pockets as the cargo pockets on the P24A and the 3A-MZ3. They can hold quite a bit and still not interfere with the lines of the jacket. In fact, the jacket looks better when the chest pockets aren't deflated and have something in them. In addition to the top access, you can access behind the entire detached pocket from the side in the style of a hand-warmer pocket. I find this to be the singular flaw of the jacket. Those side-pockets are awkwardly accessible and you look awkward when you have your hands in them. That part of the chest pockets is mostly unusable, unfortunately.
The bottom two front pockets - waterproof zip access as well and have average volume. Suitable for easily accessible items and suitable for hands (I personally prefer to pocket my hands in my pants pockets when wearing this jacket, but the bottom pockets are certainly an option as well). Overall the jacket has an abundance of storage space that, when filled, doesn't negatively affect the look of the jacket.
Gravity pockets, interops, detachable hood, internal or external jacketsling - We are all familiar with these Acronym staples so I won't get into them in the review. They are all accounted for and certainly add to its appeal, but they are not a unique facet of this jacket. The liner-compatible zip, which appears to be the new standard for Acronym, is present as well.
Cinches - As with J56-GT, there are SpeedLock cinches at the bottom of the jacket, however the J56-S adds an additional cinch inside the back of the jacket at the midsection. I don't think they mentioned anything about this in the pictures or description, so it came as a pleasant surprise.
This may seem a minor addition, but it significantly increases the versatility of the jacket. When cinches are loose and wide open, the jacket is suitable for a liner or warm layering. When midsection is cinched and bottom is as well, the jacket turns into a more fitted and sharp looking field jacket.
Closure - I'm sure that there were some people initially turned off by the fact that this jacket utilizes snaps & buttons as its closure. As referenced in its official description, this is a "contemporary nod to tradition" and I personally appreciate that Acronym approached the snap/button closure in a unique and functional way. The snaps attach by folding the right side out towards the inside of the left side of the jacket, creating a windproof closure. The big buttons close the front. All but one button in between the top of the chest pockets are hidden behind a flap. A nice detail - the fabric that lines the interior of the flap is a soft touch, felt-like fabric. On the RAF version, this fabric is a contrasting black color. I personally don't mind all the snaps and buttons, but I can see how someone would find the whole process annoying.
As with most Acronym garments, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You really must wear the jacket a while to really understand how nice it really is. I really can’t recommend this jacket enough. Grab one if you can.

Can you go number 2 in it without slipping down the waist?
Nah man. ThirdLeg access doesn’t go beyond the taint.

P26 came in yesterday and I'll share my initial reactions to it.
This thing is more fun than functional. There is very little utility here. The exposed wide shiny zippers and elastic cuff are what this pant is all about and you're either on board or you're not. Not gonna lie, the pocket situation is abysmal. There are no back pockets. Strike one. The front pockets are actually usable until you realize that if there's something in them, the bulk in the pocket makes it difficult to access the phone pocket under the detached pocket flap. Strike two. In addition to the phone pocket woes, the exposed shiny metal zipper makes putting your hand in your pocket a dangerous activity if you're not too careful. The teeth of the zipper can be abrasive. Use caution. Strike three.
Despite the pants striking out as a utilitarian garment, I still love the way they look, fit, and feel. They are unexpectedly baggy and move quite well considering there's no articulation. I will be keeping them because I bought them for the shiny zippers and not for their utility.

There's also no zipper closure on the J56. Definitely a fake and a bad one.

Anyone wash PB yet? It’s probably the usual thing where I'm being blind but don’t recall a care tag on my 63.
Haven't had to wash my 63 yet but my 62 probably could use a wash. The care tag instructions are harrowing (care tag on 63 hidden behind one of the holster pockets). Machine wash 40 degrees and apparently these beautiful and fragile garments are supposed to be tumble dried? Not even "Tumble dry low". Just straight "Tumble dry". My guess is that heat doesn't really mess with the fabric and my experience tells me that if you let water droplets air dry on the face fabric, little faint circular marks are left behind. At least that's been my experience after wearing it in rain. I'm assuming tumble drying it prevents those dried water marks.
inb4 just shake dry.
Will report back after I bite the bullet and wash one of these beauties.

When did they release NG4? I recall a similar looking NG3, but I'm not sure the NG4 ever had an official release.

Has it been confirmed somewhere that they're doing just the bags and modulars?
I don’t think it’s been confirmed yet, but I’m all for it if it means FW18 will be filled with fresh designs.
Plus I’m assuming everyone’s wallet needs a break.
Then again I doubt a season devoted to bags and modulars will give wallets a break.

where was the ng4? makes no sense to be in the video otherwise
This is just how it goes, unfortunately. How many J64TS-S jackets were sold? Quite a few. How many modulars were released to go with those? Zero. They frequently tease future accessories, which is both exciting and frustrating. Mostly frustrating though.
I may be in the minority, but I’m not exactly thrilled with this season. Tons of jackets, but no actual new designs other than the two new liners. And the liners weren’t my cup of tea. The flagship GT and S jackets were all rehashed designs.
I’m more impressed with the pant releases this season, which were also mostly rehashed designs besides the polarizing P26 and the P23A to some extent.
Maybe taking SS18 off from garments and doing a “bag & modular” season is just the thing E needs to get some fresh new designs cooking.

The texture gives it a unique feel. It feels much like the inside of a GT shell with added texture.
