  1. This brand looks interesting. And the prices are extremely competitive. Maybe worth having a punt on a pair.

I know I've spent top coin on some high end Japanese brands, only to be disappointed.

  2. Just taken delivery of the Truman 14oz Red Line Selvedge, (small batch). The Cone Mills denim is really nice, firm but soft.  The construction is top-notch. Room in the top block, (I hate jeans that mangle my meat & two veg). A slim-ish profile in the thigh/knee/hem. Washed em straight off the bat @60o spin-dry and air-dried. And they fit perfect. I personally don't believe in this: "We recommend wearing your jeans for a good while before the first wash for the most character & natural looking fades."  I wash em to get rid of the starch & shrink, then start my journey.

I lost about an inch on the inseam and 3/4" in the waist. A little snug in the waist, but this eased off in about 20 minutes. Really like them.

They remind me of my Ande Whall Caribou's.  I would guess they're in between the Mustangs & Caribou's.

  4. Thread resurrection.

I can tell you that these are quality lighter weight jeans.

I have both the Earnest & Trumans.

I have a pair of the Truman 14oz Red Line Selvedge, (small batch), on the way.

  5. So that new FH dobby shirt that SE has looks really nice.

Maybe the 48 would work for me. The fabric looks incredible.

If that was long-sleeved I woulda pounced on that. Very nice.

  6. Also to actually contribute, I flattened out the toe box of my Real McCoys N-1s yesterday (dip the front in hot water for 10 mins, then smooth down with your thumb).

Worked a treat, much lower profile now.

edit: about 1.5 years owned, probably 6 solid months of wear.

    Aries.

Thanks for that. I did just that and the toe profile is much, much better. (I hate those bulbous toe profiles).

For the record, these are kicking my ass at the moment. Have to man-up and break them in.  The sole is super rigid. Lovely boots though.

  7. This is not good news. But I respect Ande's decision. Good luck mate.

I've said this before, but AW jeans are the best jeans I own. Caribou Indigo Standies, SR12 & 15.3OZers. (Wish I had jumped on those Black SR15's).

AFAIC you can keep the vast majority of those popular Japanese brands. I have found them to be ill fitting from the get-go, (there are 1 or 2 exceptions granted). Since moved them on, for a good price, to some other poor unsuspecting soul.

  8. …………..It is the taper on my Ande's which makes the fit golden and puts them above the rest as far as I'm concerned, they have a sleeker, more modern feel than my repro cuts.

Way above the rest MF. I'm not prepared to spend good, hard-earned coin on a pair of denims that are going to cripple me. And I don't care about whiskers or combs. Also, if my denims need washed after a week, they get a wash. Wear 'em, enjoy 'em & don't believe the hype. Cheers.

  9. Got a pair of the 13.5 oz Standies, SR12's & the 15.3 oz-ers, all in Caribou. Some of the best denim I've ever worn. Period.

I've had countless pairs of high-end denim from "cool" Japanese brands & sold most of them on. Most of them don't stand up to Ande's attention to detail and construction. Ande's customer service is nothing short of exemplary.

My AW's are my go-to denims.
