got the opportunity to buy P23Q-DS at 40% off

Extremely hard to give advice like this but fwiw: I'd jump on this. I use mine FAR more than my P23A-DS. The Q has really grown on me and I do intend to pick up a second pair. Pockets are great, far more useful than A. Cut I think looks better on me than in most store pics, maybe because I'm 185 cm / 95-ish KG (6'1"/ 210 lb) and most models are far skinnier. If you have a lot of room in P10E then P23 might look ultra baggy on you.

DS is my fav pants material of all time, something you'll find others agreeing on through the history of this thread (but of course no universal consensus). I am personally not a fan of E, I have P10-E which I can't really fit into due to thigh girth (also had to retire 3 pairs of P10-S for the same reason) and P24A-E which are fantastic pants but I'd much prefer DS (missed all opportunities to buy those, sadly).

One thing I’m really interested in these shorts for is whether the FC3 can dock into the little loop for the belt fly. Can you confirm this works okay? Also how are they as swimming trunks given the mesh pockets

FC3? The hat? I don't own one but struggle to see how you'd attach that to the belt loop. And I don't see any scenario where I'd like these as swimming trunks; I'm sure the material works OK and the pockets should drain somewhat efficiently but it just seems like there ought to be 90000 better options ahead of these.

  3. Spent a week in Sardinia with SP29K-M. Hot and humid. Also worn them elsewhere but figured scorching Mediterranean weather was the real test.

They're... OK. Certainly as well ventilated as cargo shorts are likely to ever be, and despite being black I never felt they were warm or otherwise problematic. The length is certainly not too short; I'd feel weird wearing anything below my kneecaps in this kind of weather. But put anything heavy in the pocket and it peeks out through the leg opening which is... not a great look. The flimsy pocket material has held up well despite looking super fragile. Sharp keys etc have not messed anything up for me yet.

The belt fly works, but offers no real advantage over a regular fly. The little loop to put the strap through is a bit stupid since it's hard to tighten through that loop (I feel like I'll tear it off?), so I end up taking the strap out, tightening, and then often leaving the strap hanging more in the front. Threading it back through the loop feels like letting a mediocre design dictate my behavior.

The material is very easy to brush or wash off if you spill food or whatever, and remarkably they didn't pick up any smell over a full week of intense groin sweat. But not sure how it'd feel in longer pants, definitely feels like something primarily for shorts.

Are they worth the cost? Unless you desperately need this exact pocket configuration, I think not. I don't really regret buying them but could live without them. Probably using my veilance stuff more for the rest of the summer, but keeping these in rotation.

Curious about the waistband. Weren't there complaints about that design on recent pants?

Works really well on P23Q-DS in my opinion. It's better than the old 2017 P23A-DS, but even that version works quite well for me. I seem to recall a lot of the complaints are from S and XS dudes, so perhaps it relates to physical build somewhat?

the non-Q P23s afaik are slightly longer than the Q

I don't have the re-release of the non-Q but Q and original P23A-DS are the same length.

    P23’s are too short

Worn like this, I agree. Looks to me like they're sitting too high up. I'm 5 cm shorter, granted, but they sit on my hips more than my waist and that looks like it could buy @thehumanreisberg the centimeters needed.

  7. P24A-E arrived but no spec sheet, somehow. As I hoped/guessed, E seems like a great material for this model alhough I missed out on DS so leaving that comparison for the more fortunate. FWIW, 185 cm at normal proportions and size L seems like ideal length, if you're 190+ I think you might want XL or these will look weird. If you're sub 180 but very stocky, be aware that this is not as generous of a waist as many other Acronym pants. I can also second (or third?) the comment that cargo zippers are easy to operate one-handed, almost magically so. Buttoned smaller front pockets/pouches require quite the tug but can very easily be closed one handed, and perhaps they give a little with time.

I hope the lack of stretch won't mean these tear in the groin, as they're clearly not cut for doing head kicks in.

  8. Jesus christ there was no chill on the P24's, and here I was certain they'd be SS22. Thankfully L was the last size left so at last I'm getting these, and I expect the resale value will be rather pleasant in case I change my mind. But the price hurts and makes me reconsider keeping the P10-E's...

  9. At long last received my P10-E from mothersite. A little bit less claustrophobic than S, but not by much. Really hope they stretch a little in the long run, because the thighs look absolutely painted on right now. Waist is generous, biggest difference with S. I definitely need a belt at 185 cm / 96 kg. I have two still-in-their-original-box DS pairs that I will definitely not sell now that I've compared with E. But keeping both (sold most of my pairs in S.)

I think P24A-E, which I guess is now destined to be a SS22 item, might be a perfect use of this material, at least for me.  P10-E is probably a really great choice for people not attending the church of squats.

  10. The Hotoveli accidental reveal indicates that P10-E is still on for FW, though isn't that more of a SS material? But if there's a third drop, what else are we expecting? P30-E, P24A-E, J3-HY, J93-GTPL, J99-WS, and J1W-GTPL, right? Correct me, nerds

But back to P10: I had to stop wearing my P10-S due to thigh girth (squats 4 life) but DS still fits perfectly. Can anyone report on P10 sizing of S vs E? I'm E-curious but might need to bump to XL if they fit like S and are non-stretchy.

  11. WTS:

These are also on Grailed under the same username (1, 2, 3):

    P24-S Raf SS17, size L, mint/unused with bag + sheet, $650
    P10-S Black SS18, size L, mint/unused with bag + sheet, $900
    P10TS-DS SS17, size L, mint/unused with bag + sheet, $1100

All items in Stockholm, Sweden. Shipping method & cost depends on your location (always tracked).

Forgive the obvious question, but wouldn't non-cargo P10A-DS just be...P10-DS?

Yeah I just wanted to be extra clear of which model I meant. I have like 8 pairs of P10 and still don't keep track of all the names.

Thanks moneytalks for the verification! I have a pair of the enfin leve clones incoming but now I'll be able to stock up on the real thing.

  13. J82-WS pics show what looks like non-cargo P10A-DS, which I really hope will make a comeback. Is it reasonable to expect that to be the case? Not sure how often Errolson wears stuff from several seasons back in these pics.

  14. Some more data points. 185cm / 6'1", 95kg / 210lbs (weight mostly in legs because squats are life). All are size L:

P23-S: Can get tight around the calves if they ride up (like from taking big leaps up stairs) but otherwise fit great.

P23a-DS: The stretch means there's no calf tightness ever. These are glorious.

P10-S: These are mega tight over my thighs, like I painted them on. But I often still use a belt for the waits (though honestly optional.)

P10-CH: Best pants in the world. Everything is perfect. (But I use a belt.)

Bonus round: Nosucism P10 copies: Larger, cut sags differently around knees (in a slightly negative way) and ankle zippers are further in front which is awkward. But I dounbt I could use M. A skinnier person my height should go for M though.
