I explained above why MIJ products are so expensive from Western storefronts. Taking everything into consideration, MIJ denim is the same price, if not substantially cheaper compared to quality US products (let's say 3sixteen). The price difference is purely a logistical one. The unfortunate thing is that people equate this high price that we pay over here to paying for a higher quality product than MIUSA brands, which most of the time is true, but it's not that simple. I think the thing that makes us stop and take a look at what the market is like in the US is the fact that we can get japanese products for cheaper. That's making brands like Left Field and 3sixteen seem 'not worth it' to them, while in reality they're priced accurately in the market for their quality.

LVC is a bad example. They produce marginal quality goods with cheap fabrics then use an obvious mark up for "heritage". The recent influx of American brands aren't making as much as you think they are. It's pretty damn expensive to cut/sew in the US with custom made Japanese fabrics. 3sixteen and others are aptly priced at in the $200's.

more character than the 5105?! I'm not familiar with mcoy's, was actually interested in the 991xh, but my pair of 5109s (which I've unfortunately exercised my way out of in the thigh) have some of the most interesting denim I've ever seen...Self Edge's description of being "almost like a persian rug" is quite apt.
I do admit the 51xx's have a very interesting fabric- I meant more of the overall feel of the pant. I don't know, I just get such a different vibe from the McCoys that I liked better than the SGs.

In the end, they were just too big in the waist. I just want some pants that fit for once.

Unfortunately I had to sell my ONI 512xx's as the fit wasn't what I wanted. I know the denim is one of a kind, but are there any slim tapered denim that has anything close to that texture? I'm probably just going to end up proxying some 527's, but just wanted to weigh my options.

Been into heavies too much lately, so switching it up to something lighter in the 15oz range. Narrowed it down to these 2.
Jmc 991xh
Or
Sg5105
Just having a hard time deciding which one to go for. Thoughts anyone?
Man, as much as I love TSG's, I think the McCoy's have more character. I love those.

Looking to get a SG zip up, what size should I get? I Measured 20.25" across on a decent fitting button-down, so 40.5" chest. Large right? Same with their flannels?

What about American made brands which cost just as much as imported Japanese brands.
Production costs are a lot more expensive here, and most MIUSA brands are relatively new and don't have their costs as low as possible.

I was window shopping today (tax time whoo!) for some new denim. I was looking at the Fullcount 1101's or 1108's. I noticed they are significantly cheaper on OD than on BiG - just wondering if there is a difference I'm not seeing that warrants such a big price difference between the two shops. I've bought from Gordon in the past, and he's a great guy who I would love to do business with. But for almost $100 less, I think I would have to go with Okayama for this purchase. Any input from the experts?
OD/Denimio/Rakuten/proxy services are all based in Japan where FC is based. These shops don't have to pay import fees, VAT, other taxes, and then make a profit on top of all of those, so the price is cheaper. I support buying straight from Japan for these reasons, but a lot of people like to buy from BiG/SE/BO so that we can have shops like that in the US, and because they generally provide a better customer experience. It's just up to you whether the price difference is worth it. In the end you're getting the same product.

Spin cycle while drying, not washing. Tumble dry is what I meant. Anyways I was just looking for the thread in which the photos were posted.

Anyone remember who posted a few pics of the aftermath of a spin cycle on some denim? The guy had a few pairs hanging outside and one was machine dried and had some vertical streaking. I've been wanting to archive it to show examples of what happens if you spin cycle. I think it was in one of the stickied threads, but I couldn't find it.

Maybe better to post that in the 3sixteen thread than WAYWT, no one here has any idea how those fit.

Excuse the lighting, it started to rain while I shot. I'm 5'11 140lbs for fit reference.
Imperial SExI14BK- size 30
N&F 32oz, size 28, stretched waist.
Oni 512-XXBE- Size 29 (1 up), a bit too big in the upper thigh.
The Imperials are by far the best fit here IMO. I do wish they were a bit more interesting fabric wise, and some added starch would be nice, but they're super comfy. The 32oz were about half an inch too small in the waist when I got them post-soak, so I stretched them out with a volkswagen jack for a bit and they fit pretty nicely at the moment, but I would like a tad less taper to the legs. The Oni's are kind of a mess really. They're about 1.5" too large in the upper thigh, giving me some serious crotch bulging. I soaked them and it alleviated a bit, but not all. I'm hoping they'll relax and that'll go away. They're also about half an inch too large in the waist. Other than that, I really enjoy the straighter fit. The denim is obviously one of a kind and is the reason I'm keeping these. Love 'em.

Howdy Sufuers,
I'm after some mid or high rise slim fitting jeans.
It seems to be most modern cuts are low rises.
When sites show low/mid rise, does that indicate
the measurement of front and back rise?
Thanks
Left field greasers, bybeatle vol. 1, oni 527, TFH 3102. Whenever you see 'rise' mentioned, it's usually front rise.

Even their 'normal' model looks terrible

^arcuates..it's arcuates
Yes, yes it is. My phone autocorrects to 'arculates' for some reason.

Just got an email back from Hinoya- they're confirming it's the same fit and everything + arcuates.I didn't go back too too far in this thread, but what does the BE model name represent? I just ordered some 512xxBE from Rakuten, I'm guessing just the same fit as the xx but with arcuates?
