  1. Sometimes having anxiety makes me feel pretty dumb and insecure.  Took me a while to actually acknowledge that I was insecure, which obviously creates more anxiety, but felt a lot better to actually realize it and it helped me feel less insecure. Anyone felt this way?

  2. Finally close to buying my first road bike. Looking at a few options on craigslist and also an allez on eBay. Don't think I'll every want to race or anything and just want something I can ride pretty casually then build up to longer rides. Do these look decent?

Know I'll also want to get shoes and pedals.  Anything else I should look for/know? A few years ago I was riding a fixed gear non-stop and doing a lot of rides around 40-50 miles so know a small amount about basic maintenance and such

  3. Thread (and sufu) seems pretty dead but maybe people are still around. In the early stages of buying new headphones and wanted to see what people recommend around $200 or less. Listen mainly to jazz and hip hop, plugging into macbook and iPhone, and listen in the library and at work so am worried about leakage a lot. Over ear.

  4. Enjoyed Chicago a lot. Thanks for the recs everyone.

Not sure this is the best spot for this but don't know where else to put it/and asked about this for NYC too.

How realistic is it to get by working some kind of clothing-related job in Chicago? I'm about to finish up undergrad and regretting my degree/career path and trying to figure things out. I've got a background in advertising/marketing and some in photography.  Seems like some guys on this forum work in retail but do extra work with the shop's tuff like marketing, branding, and social media (ex: Woodlands, Four Housemen, Nepenthes, and for Chicago specifically saw Penelope's had some marketing and photo stuff). Is anyone doing something like this? Should probably just look at advertising firms but not sure I want to go straight into something fully corporate/wanted to see what other people here do

  5. Not sure this is the best spot for this but don't know where else to put it/will probably check a few other US cities as well.

  6. Looking for a pair of plain, relatively lightweight black pants to wear almost daily that aren't very slim. Feel dumb for how much trouble I'm having. Honestly don't care about quality and would probably prefer something lower end. Had the uniqlo slim fit but they're heavier than what I need for spring and eventually got too slim after a few wash/dry cycles. What's everyones go to now a days?

  7. I ended up buying the X Max V2 Pro. Seemed to fit the bill of what I was looking for and reviews all looked good.  I liked the idea of a desktop vape but portable fit my needs a bit more.  Planning to get a bike trainer + tv set up in my place next year and vape while I watch movies and ride haha

  8. Buying a new vape this week.  Anyone have a good rundown of advantages between something portable or something more tabletop?  Looking at the Arizer air, solo, and extreme q. Leaning towards and Air/Solo because I need something I can transport/hide relatively easily, but am worried they don't work as well.

@Bruised / @trichrome are you guys stocking these?

edit: friend also offered to sell me his pax.

  9. Also I thought I would pass this on because it's helped me a lot and might be of aid to some of you guys. A lot of my feeling anxious and depressed has been hyper self-criticism of myself that really hit my confidence and self-esteem. It became cyclical because it would make me anxious, I would perform poorly, beat myself up, and then repeat this over and over.

My therapist suggested I keep a small notebook on me and log everything I do well through the day. It felt corny at first but it has really helped me ease my anxiety and with my productivity. I don't always keep up with it, but I try to log everything I do well though the day until I'm so busy I forget.  Anxiety and depression really fucked up my productivity because I would get mad at myself for not accomplishing much then feel bad and then just mope around. Logging as much as possible (small things like "got out of bed without hitting snooze, brushed my teeth, got to work on time) has given me a huge boost and helped me get in the mentality of being able to not fret on my mistakes / feel bad about myself for small imperfections.

  10. Looking for recommendations on a new routine. Started lifting last year and did the typical Stronglifts route and developed a decent base strength (about to hit 225 for my squat 5x5) and want to find something with a similar time commitment that's more aesthetics based. My upper body always seemed smaller in proportion to my lower, which is partially why I started lifting, so I'm hoping to find something with more of an upper body emphasis than SL.  Definitely enjoy trying to continuously increase my weights though and want to keep doing the compound lifts. I tried strong lifts + accessory work but it was exhausting.

    Any recommendations?

  11. Super sick of anxiety. Hit a point it's really affected my self-esteem and lost a lot of my confidence and motivation.  Don't have much of a desire anymore to apply for internships at my dream job or anything because small every day tasks are daunting.

I know a lot of the thoughts and stuff aren't real (a lot of the "not good at anythings" and stuff like that) and I know to not feel anxious, but getting a shaky voice making presentations and feeling the physical symptoms during almost any task are extremely frustrating. Feel like I can't function or make good work.

    Anyone else been here?

  12. Good recs, thanks guys. Don't have a lot of money for clothes and shit right now so I'll probably spend most of my time just walking around and most of my money on food. Planning to stop at the contemporary art museum and check out Independence. Shake Shack worth it or just hype?

  13. Spending a few days in Chicago this week and think I'm going to airbnb in Wicker Park or Logan Square. I don't anywhere I'm set on going and mainly want to just walk around and take photos but want to hit Quimbys, Myopic, and the re-sale shops in Wicker Park, eat in Logan Square, and check out the MCA and walk around a bit downtown.  Can I get a three day pass for the L?

  14. 1) Keep a conscious habit to regulate my thoughts and thinking patterns.  + meditate

    2) Read more. Deleting my social media apps from my phone and keeping a book on me.

    2) Keep exercising. Should probably set something specific but last January I started jogging regularly then eventually started lifting and have been consistent. Don't have any numbers but I want to keep going to the gym 3/4 times a week consistently.

    3) Shoot more film and actually post more of my work instead of sitting on it and hyper-criticizing it.

4)Stop thinking/talking about politics so fucking often
