  1. I've been wearing my first pair of raw denim now for about 3 months... just a cheap pair of Levis STF. But I'm on the hunt for a second pair. Since this is an expensive way to buy jeans (once beyond the STF), I'm trying to take my time to find the right pair. So I have two questions: 1. Are there any other Raw denim offerings in the Levi's stable? It looks like there may be, but at the same time, I'm new to it all... so maybe not? 2. If I were looking for a pair of jeans with a lower rise than the 501, what might you recommend? I'm not looking for skinny jeans, but a straight leg is fine. I like it a little more relaxed in the legs. Any ideas? Trying to not break the bank too hard.

I would recommend stepping up to Unbrandeds if you're trying not to break the bank. They'll fade pretty fast and they're pretty easy to grab a pair. It all depends on how much money you're will to spend of course. Or, you can always go on something like grailed and keep an eye out for something at a deal. also, try rawrdenim scout.  scout.rawrdenim.com might give you some ideas

  2. Denimio is pretty standard to deal with, just takes a little longer than getting something stateside. As far as working with a proxy, I've never done it, but there are multiple services. I haven't ordered with Rakuten but I know that some stores are supposed to be shipping international now.

  3. Hi guys any idea why Denimio prices are so much cheaper than BiG for xx-011? (After conversion of currency)

Denimio is a reliable online shop to buy from right?

Denimio's prices are fixed at Japan's retail price. They are not allowed to sell them at a higher price.

  4. For all who own the 20oz secret denim (specifically low tension)-

How stiff is the denim initially, and how much does it loosen up with wear?

It's not stiff at all (relatively speaking). Before I soaked them, I could see light through a couple of spots. After the hot soak, they shrunk up almost exactly to the OW measurement.  I've found my pair have continued to shrink a tiny smidge past one wash measurements after giving them two legit washes. As far as how much stretch, I'd say they stretch only a mild amount. I wish I had hard date on it but I've never taken the time.

  5. I recommend the tailor measure out the jeans to the length they would be without any cuff and then add an inch, inch and a half to the length before cutting. That's what works for me anyways

  6. No contest pair and no shipping info! I'm getting a little disappointed with how the contest is being organized actually.

I'd give them a little benefit of the doubt. Denimio is a small outfit and PBJ has never really done a contest like this. Considering it's just one or two people shipping out 200 pairs of jeans to different addresses, not to mention some needing to be hemmed, that's a lot to ask.

  7. Can someone tell me whats up with the comp? Will there be a thread on sufu , or another site showing progress? Which cut has been chosen for the comp etc. I emailed deminio and they told me its not too late to be involved, i just cant find a webpage with details.

    Thanks in advance.

Email [email protected] . Mahoto is the one who deals with PBJ and is in contact with them. They are in the process of setting up the website for posting for the competition as we speak. As far as getting involved in the competition, there's no guarantee that your size will be available. However, I'm sure that if you contact Mahoto with your size, he'll be able to give you a pretty definite answer soon. They're supposed to be getting the jeans in the next week or so. Ken-ichi has said he's putting the final touches on them this month.

So I had to give the jeans another wash prior to sending them in to denim therapy for some repairs. My big ass thighs combined with the rough nature of the denim caused the warp to get ground the hell out. Figured i'd take a pic with my cell while they were still out drying. I'll get some more HQ pics in after the repairs have been done. Cheers

  9. Thanks for the input guys, pulled the trigger and got the one wash. Sized down and just a little tight round the waist, should gave in with a bit of wear.

Quick question whats the difference between the 527 & 527zr?

I've wondered the same thing myself but I think 527zr is the full technical name for the indigo version of the jean. the 527OR for instance, is the olive version of the jean. I could be wrong though

  10. I am think of getting the one wash 527zr, is there any further shrinkage in the length? Also I want a slimmer fit i am normally a 32", is it worth sizing down.

    Thanks in advance

I would recommend getting the raw version of the 31 personally, that way you can better control any shrinkage plus they're treated less. While they have a rough texture, I actually contacted gordon to make sure I had gotten the raw instead of the one wash - they're a real easy break in. They shrink down to pretty much the exact amount the one wash model is measured at. I will say that after the first machine wash they felt like they had shrunk a little extra, but that could be that I had gotten fatter from when they had first been soaked :P.

Whether or not you go OW or Raw, you won't regret getting them, it's a great cut.

  11. I'm trying to corrupt my wife to be into the world of raws. She's always appreciated nice clothing but she's had trouble getting past the rough nature of a new pair of raws. So I'm getting her her own PBJ hoodie to introduce her personally to the quality.
