  1. I currently have my Flat Head 3009 which i am going to put about 1 month more of wear into before washing and giving them a bit of a rest at the end of June.

My next pair is going to be Samurai 710xx 19oz for the denimio samurai vs oni contest (next 1 year) which will take up most of my wear time (if not all), starting at the end of June.

I will then wash and wear my flat heads whenever i can for a more of a vintage look from where they are now. After that year of samurai 710xx 19oz i will probably get back into my samurai geisha 710xx DMO pair.

If another contest starts up with some cool pairs or if strike gold finally releases a pair of jeans i can fit into I'll get those, as well as keep a lookout for any new collabs that pop up in some interesting denims.

  2. Looks great! Dont look too short at all IMO and would look great with a single cuff (preparing for a flood)

Any chance you could post thigh measurements? thats the most crucial measurement for me :/

  3. @BrownMetallic

How are those derbies? Leather thick or kinda thin a la a dress shoe? Thinking of getting some Viberg derbies as a go-to casual/shit kicker.

It depends heavily on the leather, the calf is supple and thin feeling but its lined so it has some added heft, latigo is a midweight leather that is pretty hard wearing imo. If you want shit kickers I'd go with latigo, its tough as nails and cleans up extremely well.

  4. ^ Very true. I put my Ooe and my Warehouse on a 60 degree Eco-wash and it left creasing and permanent marks across the fabric. Very frustrating but I tell myself that none of it will show much once they are worn in. Never again... You have to get plenty of water in there.

I've made this mistake before, even the "gentle" cycle uses almost no water in my washer. It ruins clothes in my opinion, i have a washer dryer combo and its the worst POS I've ever used

  5. insanity...prices went down to $100 a pair at one point.

Would make it worthwhile for a viberg fan just to fly over for the sale i guess

Yeah pretty crazy, I didn't get in on those deals but I'm okay with that. A redditor went and bought 18 pairs on the last day to proxy out for people. Pretty insane, even managed to snag a few pairs of horsehide that seemed to make it under the radar

  6. I get the impression that the sample sale was not so crazy as it was last year but that the stock was better. From IG, it looked like there was still loads of great stuff to be had when they dropped the prices to $200.

I got that vibe too, a few cool pairs of natural kangaroo, undyed veg tan, and a couple pairs of awesome shell.

I'm pretty happy with what I got even though it's somewhat reserved

  7. BLUNDER ALERT

As some of you may know, Viberg had a sample sale on the weekend.  I had some /r/goodyearwelt members pickup some pairs for me, unfortunately on sunday Viberg began marking some prices down, causing me to accidentally purchase 4 pairs of vibergs

    The hauls are:

Brown CXL 2030 Boot (goodyearwelt) - Size 12

    Dwg6GXB.jpg

Grey Guidi Calf  (confirmed that these are calf, might be dusk guidi calf)) 2030 Boot (goodyearwelt) - size 12

Yes these look like black but i have been told they are the guidi version of grey

Derby Grey Guidi Calf (goodyearwelt) - Size 12

Cinnamon Roughout 1035 Boot (stitchdown) - Size 11.5

All of a sudden i went from getting rid of my vibergs because i sized them wrong to now having 5 pairs...lmao. Cop freeze is in effect. I'll do a full review of the pairs once i have them and add some comments about the goodyearwelt vs stitchdown (including the flat welt vs storm welted pairs)

  8. Seems like Cold Summer is onto something with his idea.

I might just have to go to Japan sometime and look into this.  B)

I'm sure if i tried it i would end up with made to order rubber ducks instead of shirts due to my complete lack of Japanese language skills

  9. ^Lookin good Broark!

Sorry to continue the Alden discussion, but agreed; I wear them more for daily casual wear and office work and don't think they're nearly as durable or hardy as say a pair of White's but when it comes to daily use in normal conditions, I've come to realize that I just don't need that level of robustness. I consider Alden's my "sneakers" since I don't actually own any sneakers lol

Aho...you may say that now but check out my customizations. These are pretty much at or above the durability/robustness of Whites! haha

  10. Picked up my Alden x JCrew PCT boots from the cobbler today...1 year later and they are pretty unrecognizable from when i initially purchased them

I initially got these from ebay, they looked like they were a nice lighter shade of #8 so i jumped on these. Lo and behold they fit me perfectly and are officially my most comfortable boot

I have a trip coming up to LA and i needed some new heels on these, and I've been really liking the stuff comign out of Dr. Sole and Role Club, but the shipping and time for the resole would take me a bit too long. So i measured my soles and heels are decided to place an order for some raw corded half soles and heels from Dr. Sole, paid for express shipping, totalling $47 USD shipped to Australia. They arrived 4 days later

I took these to Rogers Shoe Repair in Sydney after not being satisfied with some repairs i had done elsewhere (my last heel replacement left the heels a about 0.5" too low in my opinion). Roger had these done in 3 days time, i picked them up today. He asked for $40 for all the work he did (topy installation, heel replacement, edge refinishing, nailed topy, and then restitched my tongue up).
I had the brass eyelets installed a month or two ago (pretty rough work by my old cobbler but it looks good from the outside).
All in these have aged pretty damn amazingly and have been all over the world with me. I love raw corded soles and the addition of some viberg leather laces has really increased the workwear/badass aesthetic of these boots

Thanks! If anyone has any questions about the soles, eyelets, or anything please let me know!
  11. I've gotta stay away from Yahoo japan auctions, I've bought too much camera gear and denim related stuff recently

Last denim pickup was a Flat Head 7010w in size 46 which fits me absolutely amazingly, been wearing it 5 days a week for the past month and the combs on the arms are starting to take off fading wise. I'll probably give it a wash some time in the next two weeks

Flat Head shirt sizing was the most difficult thing for me to nail, I'm still not convinced that a western flat head shrit will ever fit me properly unless i find a 44 WR, the 46 just looked too sloppy, the work shirt 46 looks great tho

  12. I'm heading over to LA for a week near the end of june and I normally travel in my Alden shell boots but they needed a new Topy and my cobbler put a heel that, IMO, was too short and ruined the balance of the boot

So...I ordered some heels and raw corded half sole from Dr. Sole and dropped my boots off along with the supplies to a new cobbler near my office who had some pretty damn good reviews and came highly recommended on Styleforum.

I'll just have them cemented on the sole, with some brass tacks for added strength. Pics incoming when i pick them up! I have a feeling these will be epic!

The inspiration for my customization is this....truly amazing

  13. Ed, I'm sorry to phrase it like this, but grow the fuck up dude! I totally respect all that you've done for this community, the passion you have for denim, and the relationships you've developed over your many years of involvement in this scene. But inclusivity is a fundamental component of a group like this, and it's clear to me that you have a very particular vision of what this community should be—one that discriminates by gender, sexuality, race and national identity; one that sexualizes women, uses "gay" as a slur, suggests that the women of a person's country are all whores, and denigrates anybody who might think otherwise—in short, a community that seeks to make anyone who doesn't agree with your politics feel unwelcome. Much of the reason I buy jeans from denim retailers is because I have a great deal of respect for the folks I've met in this industry—Jay and Kevin from Blue Owl, Kiya and Tyler and Young from Self Edge are all great guys and combine a passion for denim with an appreciation of all the people who might be interested in it. Honestly, though, I would never buy a pair of jeans from you because of the way you treat people, and I'm sure there are others that feel the same way. Hopefully there are some reconciliations you can make in the future; the community would be much better off for it.

Chicote, I understand where you are coming from but one thing you have to realise is that this is an online public forum that is pulling people from all over the globe together. Ed is a dude that grew up in probably a fairly racist environment with a slew of other issues (i find most Asian countries to be some of the most racist and backwards places on earth), which means he will carry those thoughts and ideas elsewhere.

Is it a big deal in the grand scheme of things? No. Phrases like this don't bother me at all, maybe some people are pretty up tight about what they read on the internet and how people elsewhere in the world think but I feel you may need to take a step back and just see that Ed is all around a good dude. He's polite to everyone (never seen him say anything hurtful to anyone), he gives back to this community, I get a pretty damn good laugh at a lot of Ed's posts, just like if I would if i was to go see Jim Jerreries or Bill Blurr doing some stand-up again.

The world is a big place, the internet connects people from all over together, your ideas of what should and shouldn't be said on a public forum come from your more than likely Westernized view of the world.
