  1. I thought people might be interested to know that the White's order I placed on August 6th shipped out yesterday. That makes 20 days from order to shipping. I was pretty surprised when I got the shipping notification; Baker's told me it would be 6-8 weeks.

I ordered pretty much exactly these :

Pretty excited for my first pair of White's. I have several pairs of Red Wing Heritage so I'm curious to check out the differences in construction/materials.

  2. I definitely wish they would add an additional larger size. Quite a few Japanese brands simply don't go large enough for my 6' 210lb frame. I have the largest size of the SG indigo hoodie and while it works, I would probably be better off with one size larger (if it existed).

  3. Just ordered the Indigo dyed hoodie. Am I right there's not much if any shrinkage to be expected when washing it?

From my experience with the zip up indigo hoodie, it is completely pre-shrunk when you receive it. It definitely is able to stretch out if needed from there.

  4. Been looking for Type 2 styled jacked lately...I like the Wolf for the most part but the rounded collar bothers me a little. Any other suggestions for a ~46/47" chest and 20" shoulders? Seems like japenese brands don't always make sized big enough for my 6' 210lb frame.

Also, decided to move on from my pair of SR9. Ended up buying some Roy KS1002 which I prefer the fit of right now. Still hoping to see some pictures of the SR9's when somebody gets some wear on them!

My pair (35x34) is only listed on Reddit for now. Let me know if you're interested!

  5. Yeah these are the caribou fit in 35x34. I haven't worn them a ton yet, but here are the initial measurements I took (BiG style).

    Waist - 36"

    Front Rise - 11.75"

    Back Rise - 15.5"

    Thigh - 13.125"

    Knee - 9.125"

    Opening - 8.25"

    Inseam - 34"

I'm probably going to get them hemmed before I start wearing them more...I prefer about a 32.5" inseam so they're a bit sloppy for my tastes right now.

  6. How does the inside of that denim feel?  It looks like it would have the feel of a carpet liner, but I'm guessing the difference on the weft is purely aesthetic and it feels like any other denim, right?

They are actually super comfortable right off the bat. I was a little worried it would feel a little abrasive (like carpet liner haha), but that isn't the case at all. My view may be a little skewed since I've only worn heavier stuff for the past year or so, but these seem to be much softer than the ~12oz Cone denim I've worn in the past.

  7. It's white as far as I can tell. From the product description..."Extra heavy weight natural toned thread is used on the watch pocket, Wing's back pocket stitching and the hip stitch".

  8. I got a pair of SR9 about a week ago. I've been meaning to put some pictures up, just lacked motivation until you guys asked for them!

It's pretty overcast here right now, so these are all shot with a flash bounced off the wall/ceiling. Color seems to be pretty accurate though. Let me know if there's anything else you want to see!

  9. louisbosco, what kind of stretch did you experience with the 24 oz?  The only pair I'd be able to acquire at the moment is a touch large.

I'm sure it would shrink; I'm just wondering about stretchback.

    Hey jyoni,

Here are some measurements I've taken for my 24-007 tag sized 36. The first line are the raw measurements from BiG's site. I can measure them again when I get home today to see how they're sitting today if that would help. I would say that waist/thigh has returned to ~96-97% of raw size.

The wash I list on 1/29 was with warm/hot water by hand. Always hang dry. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  10. Finally experimenting with some stronger springs here and having great success, if either of you (or anyone else who has one of these clips) would like to send it back to get supercharged, send me a PM.  Once I secure a larger quantity of these springs I'll just swap out all of them before shipping.  Big improvement.

Just got the spring you sent me for the clip. It's perfect now...no worries that the keys will fall off anymore. It was a pretty tight fit, but only took a minute or two to switch out. Thanks for sending the new spring my way!

  11. If you're going to cold soak it get the 44, if you're going to hot soak it and/or wash it often get the 46 because they run true to size and shrink down almost an entire size.

Would I be able to shrink the 46 enough to fit pretty close to the BK size 46 I have? The chest measurement is the only one that makes me a little nervous on the 44. If I measure my BK from pit to pit (including the extra material from the back of the jacket when it's flat) I get about 23.75" (47.5"). From the 'How we measure' picture on your site it looks like the measurements might just be from side seam to side seam (not taking into account the extra material from the back).

  12. Hey Kiya,

Looking for some confirmation/advice on sizing the SEXIH22TypeIII jacket. I have the SEXIH07IIIBK in a size 46. I'm able to wear a hoodie under the BK without any trouble.

Would a 44 in the IH22 work after shrinking? Do you know how much shrink people have been getting with a cold soak?

    Thanks!

  13. Throwin' up another sweat pant pic!

My girlfriend and I went up to the ice caves on the shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin. She managed to forget to pack a base layer or snow pants, so the sweatpants moved into "snowpants" mode (far from optimal...but better than nothing I guess). She had to tie them super tight and roll up the bottom 3-4 times...but they worked pretty well and kept her warm!

    IMG_4634-2_zps6db4cf7c.jpg

*She's also rocking my Duluth Pack/ Blackblue scout pack. I had on a Left Field work shirt....but didn't get any pictures of myself!

    IMG_4695-2_zps9a2131bd.jpg

We thankfully went early enough that it wasn't *packed*....but it was still pretty crazy. The number of people walking to the caves as we were leaving was pretty insane. It's a little hard to see here, but there is basically a solid stream of people following the shoreline for the entirety of this picture.

Just threw the pants into the washer. Gonna dry them as well to see if I can get them to shrink a little.

  14. Hi all,

I'm Mitch from a few miles south of Minneapolis, MN (one of the many BlackBlue participants). I don't really expect to see a whole lot of out of the house time with mine, but it should be cool to see where everybody's pair ends up in a year! I pretty much plan to wear mine as pj's, as well as my 'get home at 8:00 and don't feel like wearing 24oz PBJ's anymore' pants. Here are some quick fit pics to get things started...like most pants I had to size for the thighs (XL), so the waist and inseam are a bit large, but they're ridiculously comfy already. Most likely going to hot wash/dry them to see if I can shrink them a little more. I'll grab better pics when I can as well...

  15. I grabbed the hoodie version a few weeks ago. I went with a size 5 (I'm 6' ~210lbs) and it's just a hair large. I think a 4 might have worked after it loosened up a little, but I'm pretty glad I went for the 5.

  16. Like I said, last thing I really need right now is another pair of jeans. But the deal was just so good! Plus I went back a couple pages and read Kyle's writeup on the model he just picked up that's essentially the same except for different arcs and back pocket lining on the BSPs and that really sold me. Surprised I was the only bidder honestly.

I was watching them...but like you I really don't need any more jeans. In the past two months I've grabbed two pairs of Samurai's and a pair of Momo's. I still haven't even really started wearing any of these much yet (My 24oz PBJ's are pretty awesome for a MN winter).

Hope to see some pictures when they get there...enjoy them!

  17. I'm looking to get back into the denim game after a few years.  I'd like to pick up a pair of s0500xx and I'm wondering how to size them.

I have a pair of s5000vx from a while ago in a size 35 that don't fit -- they are good in the thighs but too big in the waist/leg opening.  I think the s0500 cut is better for my body type.

Should I go with a 34 or 35 in the s0500xx?  I plan to wash them frequently, if that matters.

I just got my s0500x back from satchelbmoore hemming them. Here's the pre soak/post soak measurements for my pair. I've only done a single hot soak for about 45mins. I plan on doing another hot soak in a week or two since I'm sure there's a little shrinkage left.

These are tag size 36. Measurements are BiG style.

    Presoak/Postsoak

    Waist: 37.5 / 35.5

    Front rise: 12 / 11.25

    Back rise: 16.25 / 15.25

    Thigh: 13.75 / 13.25

    Knee: 10 / 9.75

    Opening: 9.5 / 9.125

    Inseam: 38 / 35.5 (before hemming)

    Hope this helps!

  18. a customer brought a pair of 500XX into BlackBlue for a hem. they made me nostalgic for my 610LX from 6 years ago. i can't believe i ever could stand something so low. that denim doe...

Those are ridiculous. Can't wait to get the 0500xx back from you!

  19. Samurai sizing question!

I'm looking at a pair of 710xx, but haven't dealt with Samurai's at all before.

My PBJ 24-007 measure about 37" at the waist, and 13" in the thigh. I'd like a similar top block fit in the 710's.

According to BiG charts, the 36's measure 37" waist and 13.5" thigh when raw. The 35's measure 36" waist and 13.25" thigh when raw.

How much shrinkage should I expect from normal warm/hot machine washing. Should I go with the 35 or 36?

    Thanks!
