  1. That and if you have any kind of gut you're out of luck. Sadly I'm both tall and have a belly.  :D

Being 6' and 210lbs instantly rules out a huge number of japanese brands for me. Definitely a bummer!

  2. Looking at grabbing a pair of 714's soon, but have concerns about the waist. From every other measurement, the size 36 looks pretty perfect. The raw waist is 39 though. I'd probably prefer a 37" waist all said and done. Doable?

  3. I have several pairs of "nicer" boots (Viberg, White's, Wesco, etc...), but I'm still a huge Red Wing fan. I'm definitely a little biased since I live about 45 minutes from Red Wing, MN. Us locals are also spoiled by having access to their annual fall sale. I've picked up a few pairs for myself and the girlfriend for $100 or so.

These 1907's were one of the sale pickups a few years ago. I love the copper rough and tough leather after it gets some wear and picks up some indigo.

I probably wouldn't spend full price on a pair now, but they're usually pretty easy to find on sale throughout the year.

  4. Bummed to hear about Blackblue, but I'm sure you'll land on your feet somewhere great. Are you still set up to do hemming with your scienceandkindess gig? If so I might need to get a bit more chopped off a pair of sammies!

Those 129's are wicked! I'm almost looking forward to some big blowouts just to send them your way!

  5. Nice. If you could only keep one pair, which would it be?

So hard to choose one. Right now probably the Wesco Foot Patrol or the Viberg Chromepaks. I think Wesco's brown domain is my favorite leather at the moment (both of the IH/Wesco boots are brown domain). The Chromepaks are still only a week or so old, but I think that leather is going to age wonderfully.

I also have a soft spot for Red Wings since I live about an hour from their factory. I've had most of the Red Wings the longest, and a few of them were purchased from their annual tent sale every fall.

  6. Just dropping this here for the record since I measured for d-rew already. This is my pair of 36 0500xx's.

Here are some measurements I just took (Blue in Green style):

    Waist: 37"

    Thigh: 13.5"

    Front Rise: 11.5"

    Back Rise : 16"

    Knee: 9.5"

    Opening: 9" (at a 33.25" inseam")

They've been hot soaked a few times, and thrown in a cold washing machine/hang dried a couple of times as well. My jeans always stabilize around 37" waist so these could probably stretch a little bit more if needed (my pair measured 37.5" when they were raw).

  7. For what it's worth, I've had a Hollows natural belt along with a natural bifold wallet for ~2 years or so. Both are still in great condition. I would definitely agree that the veg tan he uses seems to age/darken at a significantly slower rate than others I've encountered.

  8. Quick question on the tees. I know they shrink but the measurements for the Medium look good as is, would it be worth it to go up one more size or would it stretch out a bit?

Also, hoping not to step on some toes, is it possible to request to put the embroideries on the front for a tube shirt when checking out? LOVING the smoking skull one and would definitely cop one asap if it was on the front.

I picked up a pack of L black tees a week or two ago. After a cold wash + a couple minutes in the dryer just to get some of the water out of them before hang drying, they didn't seem to shrink anywhere near a full size. They snugged up a little, but if I had gone to an XL I certainly would have to try and hot dry them I think. Time will tell if they shrink more with more washes. Hopefully somebody else can chime in!

  9. I have both the SEXIH07IIBK and the SEXIH22TYPEIII, and the BK is by far the softer of the two after a fair bit of wear. I've probably worn the IH22 more than twice as much, and it's still pretty rigid in some spots. The BK is still feels very substantial, but pretty soft now as well.

    Definitely love them both!

  10. Quick question about wallet lanyards. I'm using one by Pike Brothers right now that has a real bulky end loop like this:

    448.jpg?number=P0601-13-0004

This if fine with tucked shirts or shorter shirts but it looks hella stupid when the shirt is longer and there's this weird bulge because of it. I like rounded leather ropes, not a fan of braided ones. What are my options at under € 80 - 100,-? Closed Mondays does a nice one, I'd like one in this style, ideally with a shackle on the wallet end, I don't really care if it's a lobster clamp or fishhook on the other.

Hollows does one very similar to the Closed Mondays one.

  11. Sizing advice for Wesco Boss?

Here are a couple of other shoes/boots I have that fit well:

    -White's Semi-Dress 10D
    -Red Wing Beckman (9016) 10D
-Red Wing Iron Ranger (8111) 10.5D
    -Red Wing 1907 10.5D
    -Allen Edmonds Strand 10.5D

I seem to fall right between 10 and 10.5D on most leather footwear, so it usually depends on the actual individual shoe which size works best. My main concern with engineer is difficulty actually slipping them on. My only experience was briefly trying on some Red Wing engineers and struggling to get my foot into the 10D.
  12. Just grabbed this mid-wallet from Hollows and decided to take a few pictures while its still unused. Needless to say, it's pretty gorgeous! It's Bison on the outside, Honey-Tan saddle on the inside.

Also took a group picture of some other Hollows stuff...it's all top notch!

  13. Gotta give another shout out to Danny and Junior. I emailed Danny back and forth a few times about sizing the IHSH-107, and received multiple responses instantly. They measured a few of the same item to find one that should be perfect for me. Thanks again guys!
