  1. Burger- Sam's in north beach is amazing drunk or sober (but always a drunk hit) or on Tuesdays only, Rosamundes on Haight street does a burger which is in my opinion the best in the city. Get a drink at Toronado, wait for your burger, come back- eat bliss. Roam is also good if you are looking for something more "crafted", the first two I mentioned are strictly american style, but amazing.

Coffee- Beacon for chill atmosphere (sightglass beans), Four Barrel, Reveille (amazing breakfast sandwiches)

    Pastries- Tartine (dat morning bun)

Dim Sum- Yank Sing, koi palace

etc- Burma superstar (tealeaf salad), Ramen Underground (haters gonna hate, its pretty decent), Lil chihuahua (my fav pseudo-mexican, can walk down the street to get bi-rite ice cream afterwards ), Papalote, Roli Roti porchetta sandwich (thursdays only at ferry building for lunch)

beer/liquor- toronado, beer revolution (oakland), southern pacific brewing co, don pistos (bottomless margarita brunch), hopwater, chambers (for group vibes), monks kettle, rogue

    Awesome thanks mate!

  2. Trouble coffee isnt far from my house... never been there tho... Heard good things? I usually just get four barrel in portola since its walking distance

Yeah I saw something in a magazine. Apparently the girl who opened it was broke as shit, sleeping on people's floor's. Just think fair play to her for doing something.

Think they just do toast, coffee and coconuts. Whats that are like?

  3. Yeah over time prices will drop here. It's kind new money too, people here are getting a taste for it. I don't like moaning about it because I love it here, but yet my English side loves a bitch.

I just want a bank account I don't have to worry about about. Pay money into it and use it every now and then. I could be outa the states for a few months where I ain't using it.

  4. I'm in Auckland, New Zealand. It's a small population with little competition. Now we have I think 3-4 mobile providers (cell phone) not long ago there were two. So it is very expensive to run a mobile phone here. Compared to the UK.

I pay a monthly banking charge, pay to use other bank's cash machines. You can pay to deposit money into your own account. I walked in with cash a while ago and they wanted to charge me $2 to pay it in. Small fee I know, but I've never had that in the UK. So I didn't bank the money.

I once paid in a Canadian cheque and they called to ask me if i faked it or if it was real.

I just put it down to it being a small population with little competition so I feel (not sure if anyone else would agree) that we get ripped off here.

There are a lot of Aussie interests here, banks being one. So all the profit goes overseas. There is starting to be a backlash against Aussie firms. Countdown is a Aussie supermarket here. Was some stuff in the news, I can't remember what exactly, something about pissing off the Kiwi's so people were going to stop shopping there. $4-5 for a bag of fucking salad. Lots of fat people here, Pacific Islanders (poor bastards are big anyway) To eat ethically, clean and healthy is expensive.

But in saying that, I absolutely love Auckland.

  5. slightglass, bluebottle, and jane for coffee houses/cafés.

I'm a fan of brunch at spqr, decent price unless u wanna splurge on dinner

craftsman and wolves, b patisserie, chantal guillon, knead patisserie, anthonys cookies (Jane has really good ones too)

coffee crunch cake at yasukochi in japantown (call to order early morning)

barneys burgers, super duper, roam, brickhouse cafe..I think I'm the only one that hasn't tried umami burger.

could go on if u narrow it down--frances, atelier crenn

Also can't go wrong with food trucks, off the grid happens in diff locations throughout bayarea but the civic center has it on tues/thurs if I remember correctly

Also would be worth it to go up to Berkeley& down over to millbrae and San Mateo for other good eats

Banking wise depends on how you like to do stuff..I have no experience with ally but I love schwab..opening accounts online may be a bit complicated but w/green card and social you should be good

Schwab if you plan to do brokerage, otherwise capital one 360 hasn't been too shabby since it took over ING savings..

Same, no fee for ATM usage, here or abroad, and no foreign transaction fees but you can do a checking and savings account with slightly..teeny bit more...yield then a schwab checking account would.

    Awesome thanks Whitney!

I read about Trouble Coffee, you know anything about those guys? Keen to check out food trucks etc.. I wanted to catch a Football game 49's, but doesn't seem to be one on.

Thanks for advice on banks, was giving me a headache looking online. UK and NZ there are all pretty much the same, although in NZ there is a lot of Aussie banks who try and fuck ya.

Thanks for all the info Whitney!

  6. depends on what's your budget, what you like, etc

j/w why would u need a bank recommendation? for sf or in general? cos ally doesn't have any physical presence I know of and schwab, only has investment locations, I heard they're going a bit of the way of Queens (aussie) with investment boutiques, franchise and such

    yeppp

    miss working fidi

Any budget really. Just after some local gems, not typical touristy, a mean burger, something upscale for a special night. Cool coffee places.

I have just got a green card, so will be opening up a bank account. Staying with friends in SF, not totally sure where I'd settle. So just want a free account etc.. Tons of bullshit on internet so maybe some real Americans can help.

  7. Gonna be in San Fran from July 4th for a week or so. Any food places to check out, burgers, Asian, mexi, whatever really?

Also bank recommendations? Ally Bank, Charles Schwab seem to have good reviews!?

  8. could you provide more detail on how the shit ended up on the wall?

I get explosive ass at the best of times, but when I used to do drugs I'd get it times a billion. I was hovering over the toilet in a position I thought would nail it, turns out I was wrong, the angle of my ass with the proximity of the wall, u-bend etc.. led me to shit anywhere except the toilet. Toilet bowl was spotless. The rim, wall, plumbing took the brunt of it.

To note I had everything intention to clean it up, but it needed more than toilet roll.

  9. Around 9 years ago I was back packing and was on a night out. I took a pill and developed pill belly where I really needed to shit. I was in a club where they didn't have toilet seats and the toilet was covered in piss (just a metal toilet).

So I hovered over it and dropped my guts. Turns out I missed the entire toilet and shit all over the back wall. I was to wasted to clean it up so I dashed to the next cubicle to clean myself up. Some guy had then walked in to my old cubicle, saw and smelt what I had done and spewed his guts up.

  10. I just want to add that even though i'm a huge supporter of tinder, nothing really beats approaching women in real life. You know exactly what they look, sound and move, nothing beats that. Unfortunate revelations might come to you when you meet someone on Tinder and they turn out to be completely different from what you imagined (hasn't happened yet though). Funniest thing so far was telling a girl i wouldn't have internet available so she would need to text me when she was ready to meet me that day, and...she sent a whatsapp message. She obviously turned out not be the smartest person I have ever met to say the least.

    She get it doe?

  11. Ignorance about oil drilling.

A guy I know constantly complains about the need to drill for oil. He collects cars, takes overseas travel and drives for a living. He once drove his car to a oil drilling protest, to protest about the very thing that made it possible to drive his car there.

  12. my ex-girlfriend just texted me asking if we can talk over coffee. We last met in January, in similar circumstances. A couple of days later she had found out that Ive been seeing an acquaintance of hers the last year (my current gf) and asked me to go to hell. So confused. Also, have not stopped thinking about the ex during the last year...

Jokes on her, hell don't exist

  13. no luck with women. chat with them, get their numbers but they never seem keen enough to follow-up. feel like i'm the only keen party and it's tiring. what am i doing wrong

*not keen on just banging doe / just need someone on that same wavelength deep-shit kinda thing

Find a girl who wants to do E with you. Or maybe try meet a chick closer winter time, read somewhere people are more inclined to have relationships in winter. Xmas spirit or some bollocks, not wanting to be alone.

But if you are looking for deep meaningful shit you are probably creeping bitches out.

  14. its my birthday but i have no friends to celebrate it with and my dad didnt even say hbd so i got stoned alone and played league of legends and now im waiting for my mom to come home so i can order pizza because i don't make my own money and i sit on my ass all day

    You happy with that?

  15. I guess is it ever a good idea to rekindle an old flame, or am I better off continuing to pursue new people?

This is a very relative question, and in my case the girl is a former coworker I hooked up with a few times but we never gave the relationship a real go because of the work situation (same team 20 Feet away). that has since changed and she left the company, and it's been over a year, I just don't know how good of an idea it would be to reach out after all this time. probably a better idea than going after a current coworker I guess, and the sex was really great so there's that. I'm just getting burned out on all these first dates with strangers and wouldn't mind a shot with a person I've already connected with on a certain level at least.

advice? good idea or dumb idea?

You sound lonely, the only reason you are considering an old hook up is because you are getting blown out on first dates. Possibly getting blown out because you are coming across as needy, where as the beezies just wanna have a fun time without serious relationship talks.

  16. well, my 2yr relationship is officially over and i was dumped via skype...a first for me. i guess at least it happened now and not when i was about to board a plane to the US. she said i was too much of a 'realist', becoming too negative and that religion was becoming an issue for her (she is christian, gives 10% of her salary to her church etc whereas i'm agnostic bordering on atheist). i feel like a truck has hit me. :(

Don't worry about it. She is in the States and you Aus, pretty hard to maintain a relationship. I kind of get the impression that she had more control of the relationship than you. (you are more invested than she is) Take the break up as a chance to work on self esteem issues you may or may not have.

Also my bro, you don't need to drink to meet chicks, drinking is so 1999. The age of cross fit and shit like that means there are plenty of places to meet woman in a social environment.
