Wow, FLDenim, that is a big rip!

 

Well, my s5000 are starting to give up in the crotch area after 8,5 months of wear. But it seems that most of the wear of the material started after I started to commute by bicycle to work.

 

So, since they started to become see-through in the crotch area I decided it is high get them repaired and fix the cuff at the same time. Handed them in at Unionville at Sodermalm in Stockholm, Sweden, I think they will do a great job fixing them up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Can only talk from my experience, buy I soaked my S5000vx twice in the hottest tap water before I started wearing them. Also after every wash I stretch the legs and waist.

 

For me the wrinkle fades matched up perfectly after wash, no problem there.

A break from all the snowy pictures. Just came back from a family vacation in Indonesia on Gili Trawangan and Bali. Weren’t too many pictures with the denim, except from travelling days I only wore them at night when the temperature dropped slightly. And I wasn’t as moody as I look in the pictures, just a stupid “pose for the camera†face.

A meet up in Stockholm around the time of midsummer would be great. I will most likely be in Stockholm at that time. I don’t know how many of us here are from Stockholm and around but send me a message and we can at least have a few beers!

Thanks Davil. That is a little more than 7% shrinkage from unsanforized state which I don’t think is extreme since I didn’t soak the waist and has been wearing them for 5+ months. On the other hand, there are room for my measuring errors and how much I stretched the waist when measuring.

 

Fortunately they will stretch back easily. My experience is that when I have bought denim in a larger size to add for the shrinkage, they usually end up to big. For me the shrinkage and stretching usually evens each other out.

No problem fit wise J A little hard to button them up this morning but they were never uncomfortable.  Which is nice because I was a bit worried about them shrinking too much. But I must say that the 25oz denim is surprisingly soft and size 30 fit me a bit bigger in the waist compared to my pair of 21oz (the 21oz were a nightmare to put on after the first wash).

Decided to do a wash after little more than 5.5 months. Did a 60 degree Celsius machine wash and got a tighter fit, especially in the top block (expected since I didn’t soak the top block at the beginning). They did hold on to the color surprisingly well, not much of a difference in the overall color.

 

Had trouble photographing them though, when I did the before pictures I had daylight and for the after shots it was just not possible. So I did two after shots, with and without flash. But I do think that the flash photos resemble the daylight photos the best. My photo skills obviously are not the best.

 

Here are the measurements (size 30), before and after wash. Note though, that I stretched the waist and inseam when wet.

Just hope you don’t mess up the sizing since they can be hard to re-sell J

 

And the customs fee would be interesting as well. 

Thanks mmbj, yes, SD1. But the waist was a bit bigger than my 21oz version of the same model. But if that is in general or just my examples I don't know.

Looks great Max Power, beautiful patina. How long have you had it? I think I read it somewhere but I couldn’t find it now. 

Thanks Max Power, it is the Samurai W001 Heavy Curved belt. I know you used to own one as well. I had some concerns on the sizing but went with size 36 (jeans size 30-31). The size turned out to be just right, they do run rather small. Took some time to get used to the thickness but I love it. I have given it 2 treatments with Obeanaufs Heavy Duty LP since September when I got it.
